Being new to games in general when I joined having liked all the ND Books and not knowing what games came first and not researching them, just reading reviews.. I bought "Message In A Haunted Mansion" months ago Uffda! Needless to say I never made it out of my own hallway before I gave up! I assumed all ND games were like that one and was so disappointed I wouldn't try another one. I've been so bored with the same games new titles on BFG nothing but.. Ghosts, Demons, Sci-fi, Symbols, Relics, Tombs, Ancient History etc! I was ready to cancel my BFG membership when I watched a Youtube video, accidentally of "Alibi In Ashes" and it looked entirely different than my first purchase, it looked FUN so I decided to give BFG one more try! Not that when I run out of ND games I like I'll stuck around if the Dev's don't stop making the same old stories with new titles! About Alibi In Ashes: I read a review of many ND games saying "Have a notebook ready" I didn't think they meant it.. Oh yes they did!! My floor was covered in notes and paper scraps with codes and roughly drawn diagrams.. But, I thoroughly loved every minute of it.. Big plus for met in this game is all the "Character Interaction" which for me, made so much more interesting and such a blast I couldn't stop playing!! Loved having the whole gang there passing tasks via Cell Phone to them was a huge plus! Hanging out in "River Heights" was another plus.. I thought the entire story was well done, excellent graphics and voice overs were some of the clearest I've ever seen! No puzzles were brain sizzling-ly overwhelming but I really could do without so much MATH!! I did have to stop and refer to the walkthrough several times but didn't mind the break! This is now by far my favorite BF game! So with all that said Of Course...

It’s been awhile since I played this but from memory you won’t get much! Ha! I didn't put it in my “JUNK” file, it’s in my “Play Again” file so it must have redeeming qualities! It’s a very fast paced game from the start with a Map showing your tasks! You play a Mom/Wife looking for your 2 children and Husband all lost in different parts of the huge Cruise ship “Neptune” that is sinking fast! Some things are silly, like you wouldn't stop and play a Slot machine in the Casino when your looking urgently for your missing family.. Well, I wouldn't anyway LOL. Besides the occasional “Why did they put that in here” it’s a pretty intense game that makes your pulse race and you feel like you have to hurry up or else your all doomed!! You need to think it out when at times nothing makes sense. I was stuck a few times and had to close out and look at the Walkthrough. The “Aquarium” fish puzzle is one that comes to mind and how to climb out the window and up the side rails! Musical score is excellent and other sound effects such as your sons screams for help and you coughing and sputtering like you really went under water! The creaking breaking ship were well done as was the Coast Guard and visual helicopter! Graphics were very clear and realistic looking! Then there is that pause and reflect time when you can’t help but think, If I was a Mom on a family cruise, no way would I have MacGyver like skills! Example: When she finds her Son the water’s rising fast so she has to shut of the main valve.. How would she know how to do that? There is a lot of that in here but the over-all game is more like your in a disaster movie you’re the star and will prevail as a hero!
I recommend this game!

Same review for both “Special Enquiry Detail” games.. I love these! If you've been searching like I have for games where you get to be the detective? These games are exactly what you play! The team is made up of 2 detectives a Boss and the head of the forensics lab! It's male/female so everyone can step into the shoes of their choice and feel part of the investigation! No old mansions, scared kids, ghosts, knights with swords, sci-fi or back to the 1800's! Straight forward here and now engaging investigations with endings! HOS and puzzles are important to the games and not just random fillers! Sound track must be fine I can't remember it right now so it didn't bother me.. Negative: There’s only 2 SED games, I really hope they make more! Or someone dev catches on that a lot of us like that kind of game! Not for kids, mine anyway!
Lots of Fun. Be The Detective, Female or Male! Finally!

Strange game to say the least! I thought I was going to like it after the "Trial" so bought it. Had no idea it was just going to keep repeating the same things I had already done over and over! Just when you think you're going to move on you get a letter telling you you've missed some things at the previous locations so back you go but it's just a way to make the game longer! All HOS in the same locations with written blips of true trivia about the Real Titanic! About the first 3/4 of the game there are simple puzzles then they seem to fade away for awhile, come back towards the end. There are no real people in this game just drawings of head shots of 5 crew members and a reporter who's pictures show up and a few lines of true trivia. Don't let the beginning fool you into thinking it's going to be like the simulated news, that's the only action there is! It's a still game, no motion as you would expect with a game about the sinking ship! Locations don't have anything to do with the letters you get. It's completely dis-jointed and boring! It has a little history if you don't know the story at all.. The story they used to make this game in my opinion is silly!! I finished it as fast as I could because I just wanted it to be over!
Narrator is great! Very well done! It's dark but you laugh!

Penny Dreadfuls: Sweeny Todd Game is based on (in my opinion) the horrible play (Sweeny Todd) but it’s a good game! I did skip over the actual Singing parts in the cut scenes, once was enough! The scenes are pretty clear and interesting! The locations are graphically very nice, and you don‘t travel and walk endlessly. It has a transporter map with pictures of where you are and places to go! As you are finishing tasks the places on the map turn black and white (closed) letting you know there is nothing left to do there! All come back in the next chapter. It has the funniest British narrator that insults you constantly, it was my favorite part of it all. I told him to zip it so many times and really did laugh out loud at him! He’s what makes you want to play onward! He gets bored when you take to long and hums! Or tells you to move along. If you use an inventory item in the wrong place he says things like (And you really passed P.I. School? Or While many crimes are happening all over London you tried that again) and so on!! It's dark in more ways than one, some HOS objects are hard to find! And some scenes are just gross, keeping with the play that spawned the game very well! Slow hint re-fill, and I found I needed it quite a bit during the HOS. My favorite part even though it’s a good game is still the snaky voice from the narrator. Without sound I don’t know if I would have enjoyed it! He does such a good job you find yourself wanting to please this cranky faceless voice and finish the game! When you do something right he does say a quick “Good Job’ or “Well Done” but his sarcastic remarks are plentiful and caused me to not be able to stop playing! This a short review because I forget fast what all is in a game and did not take notes while playing. I can say it‘s a good length and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Love this game I've played it twice..Ditched some I bought and regreted it real fast! Not this one!! Fairly long game for me but I start and stop a lot! Starts with a cut scene 20 years in the past then jumps to present! You are headed to your fathers mansion/movie studio you grew up in as a child after hearing your father passed away and your brother disappeared on the same day! No CE or SG needed to play very helpful journal/diary and quick hint refill. It has a map (not a transporter) the kind that fills in the rooms/gardens/movie studios/ movie sets/passageways/tunnels and so many more places as you find a way into them. The Map has the something to do/activity here hint. Voice over’s were a little off but didn't take away form the game, there aren't very many.. When you arrive you are greeted by the maid who is in tears about your fathers passing. She lets you in then pretty much isn't around anymore. There are only a couple people you encounter, one is odd as can be LOL! Not the over-done going back and forth to the same rooms! Hint button is very helpful and refills quick. They packed a lot into this game and for me nothing seemed to get repetitive like a lot of HOS and puzzles except towards the end I came across 3 HOS in a row! Other than that everything was spaced out just right. You know Who dun it.. pretty quick because they tell you who, not because it's easy! There are 2 additional kind of objects you find in your searches and nothing tells you to look for them, It's finding them all in the colosal mansion! Not telling what they are! No spoilers.. You reach levels and get achievements for not using the hint button in the HOS or skipping puzzles! There is one actual task the game is about that you have to complete to find your brother. It’s a flowing story and most everything follows it.. Not much of the why did they stick this in here? The typed comments can get a little silly but ignoring reading them is easy! Ha I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I did! I do suggest trying it out first! I hope I can find more similar to this one! They set this one up for a sequel.. Wish they would come out with one!

This game is easier, shorter and not much of a challenge! But I loved it and found it so refreshing for a change! You do have to explore a lovely mansion from the 1800's and help figure out how to escape and prove who the rightful heir to the Castle and fortune is! Maybe I enjoy it because I'm a pastel flowery girly girl (adult) and keep accidentally buying for me, Bah Humbug games! Don't get this if you're looking for a long intense, creepy, dark, sword yielding move from one world to another world game! It has none of that.. But, if you are looking for a bright cheery change of pace with searching, puzzles and HOS buy it on sale like I did! From my taste, which is usually realistic "Crime Scene Investigations" or "Realistic Mystery Adventure Games" and I love the ones that take place in Mansions.. This is a nice little YES

I almost skipped a gem of a game, at first I thought it was going to be simply going from East wing hotel rooms to West wing hotel rooms because that does go on a little long, then you are all over the grounds you see on the map. So many places you can't get bored! It takes place in close to current time! Great graphics mix of voice overs and typed conversations you pick what to say! Not too many HOS or Puzzles! The HOS are unique, their not in color shapes in circles and once you find them all you don't just get an item thrown into your inventory, it zooms in then out on an area but you still have to find what you need in the HOS it's not that easy at times and I play in casual mode! Excellent sound effects lots of rain, thunder and lightening! You play the Dr. (that swears haha) sent to the Grand Opening of a Hotel to tend to the owner who has fallen ill but you can't find him? What you do find is a group of invited guests dropping like flys! No need for a strategy guide or CE. The hint is always ready to tell you what direction to go if your not sure so you never get stuck! List of tasks, journal, guest list with bios and very useful map! I haven't finished yet.. I decided sleep was necessary. I really think anyone would enjoy this game as much as I am! Only Cons I can think of is it's more 2D than 3 but the graphics are so clear I got past that quick. And I could do without the wolf head that shows up and howls over the arrow every time you use the hint button. Other than that, no complaints!!

Again, I seem to be in a minority here… Boring and repetitive!! Up 6 down 3 up 10 one object complete puzzle. Repeat that through the whole game and bonus chapter! Nice cut scenes with real people, but that wasn't enough to make me enjoy this game! Never thought I would be happy to see a HOS for a break! You know what they say “about repeating the same things over and over”? Well, I finished it and feel like I lost way to many brain cells!! Great graphics, colors and pleasant looking HOS. But, I really don’t care if the games are graphically exceptional if they annoy the daylights out of me!! I will never ever play it again and am so sick of all the games being way to much a like? I need to stop buying this type thinking they will be GOOD! I saw it compared to Dire Grove (Which I did like) so thought I would like this! But repeating the same things so many times for ONE object and multiple puzzles isn't what I find enjoying! The soundtrack was all but silent most of the time and when it did kick in, the music didn't fit the scene at all, everything was off, odd and repetitive!
Pros: Graphics Cons: Way to many puzzles and repeating the same things over and over!
