I really enjoyed playing this game. Oh, I've played better, but I have played a lot worse. It is a bit on the dark side, but nothing an adult or even a teenager can't handle. All in all, I enjoyed playing this. DO NOT judge this game by the demo. It was only 45 minutes long and that isn't long enough to judge it.
The graphics were very good. We are all use to the sparkles to show the hidden object games, but this is different and goes right along with the theme of the game. The sound is extremely good. The voice overs are well done and the music is eerie, but so is the game.
I liked the challenge. The hidden objects were very easy. I think I used the hint once and that was to see how long it takes it to recharge. The mini games were my kind of games. They weren't so simple that I got bored, yet it was hard enough I had to think some. I just don't have the patience for some of the mini games that come out. It was a good balance. I mentioned the hint which does a good job, but there is also a map, which shows where there are things to do and transports you wherever you want to go.
The story is dark. The warning is true to what it says, but again, it isn't all that bad. Didn't have but two nightmares about it last night. No, just kidding it was a fun scary. You are lead up to what appears to be the conclusion, and then... AND THEN.... to be continued popped up for the fall of 2014. Not long to wait, but darn, I'll have to buy another game to see how it ends.
This is a good game. I bought it and am not sorry I did.
I recommend this game!

Nightmares from the Deep: Davy Jones Collector's Edition
Escape the cold incarceration of Davy Jones' brig and discover the otherworldly origins of his galleon in this thrilling Hidden Object adventure.
To say this was a fun game, I can't. It wasn't horrible, but it was very easy to stop instead of pushing right along until I finished it. I got to the point I just wanted to get done.
The graphics were great and the sound excellent. Both clear and easy on the eyes and ears. The music went along with the actions and wasn't boring or repetitious. The graphics were in cartoon form which was funny at times.
The level of challenge was divided for me. The hidden objects were extremely simple, but the mini games, let's just say I didn't do a lot of them. They were long and boring to do. I like a fighting chance when doing them and I was knocked out before the bell even rung. There are the usual hidden object lists and the shadow. Toss in association placement and they kept me interested and challenged enough. However, I disliked the mini games more than usual.
I finally got into the story. It did take a while, and for the life of me I can't figure out the ending, but at least it had one. This had some great possibilities for a wonderful story, but they didn't take it where it could have gone.
All in all it was an okay game. I don't regret buying it, but I'm glad I got it on sale. You might, of course, enjoy this more than I, because I seem to be in the minority with the other reviews. So, give it a shot. You might just like it.
When the CE came out, I was on pins and needles waiting for the SE. Although by playing the demo, I was a bit surprised at the lack of what I was expecting. Expectations, you know. However, I purchased the game and except for a few exceptions, I enjoyed playing. Although not a five star game, it kept me busy for a few hours and was fun.
The graphics were really good. The hidden objects were in most cases very clear and the backgrounds were extremely nice. Now for the sound quality, I felt it came up lacking especially so far as the voice over scenes. The ghosts were almost impossible to understand. This is one time I am glad they had the captioning for the dialog. The music when well with the action in the game and wasn't one that I wanted to turn off.
There was nothing really new in the game. The same types of hidden objects with a nice twist, but the mini games were about what you see in all the games. There are so many different kinds of hidden objects, which is fine, because that is why I play these games. There are the usual hidden object scenes and mini hidden objects. Those were difficult simple because it was hard to see what you needed. Some were a composite of a list and shadow objects. The shadow objects were a bit more difficult because they were drawn and not particularly a replica of that hidden. There are a ton of mini games and what the hidden objects offered in simplicity, they made up for in the mini games. Not a fan of mini games, but played most. Some are pretty long and I just quit and went on with the game. Some will challenge you. You have a journal which will come in handy occasionally, but Mr. Map will be your best friend. It does a good job getting you where you need to be. The hint likewise does a great job if you get stuck or can't find something. Recharge time is very short which bodes well for the designers.
The story flowed. It was easy to follow and didn't jump around. It did have me guessing what was going to happen next and kept me going to see what that would be.
All in all, it is a good game and something I enjoyed playing. You need to give it a shot. I did and don't regret it one minute.
I have played all the Mystery Tracker games and while this was a good game, it did leave me a bit wanting, especially the ending. It was a shorter game than I remember the others being, but that didn't seem to bother the fun of it. I did enjoy playing and look forward to the next time.
The graphics were excellent and the sound fantastic. The voice overs were very clear and the music, while repetitive wasn't boring and went along with the scenes. Just an amazing job by Elephant once again.
The challenge was not really difficult. The hidden objects were clear and fairly easy to find. The mini games were surprisingly easy which if fine for me, because I don't normally care for them. Don't get me wrong, they weren't push overs, but at least I had the patience to complete them.
You have Alf to assist you along with a fantastic map. You will find that it's help is both necessary and informative. The only disappointment I had was the hint. It refilled quickly, but in the other games, the frog would go through antics while recharging and I would use the hint just to watch him. This time there didn't seem to be any of that, but he helped just the same, telling you where to go and opening a location allowing you to click and go to that place.
The story is explained by Big Fish and it follows along quite nicely. I mentioned I was disappointed in the ending. It did just that, ended. I hope this does not spell the end of the series.
I do believe you will enjoy this game. I sure did.
This borders on fun and boring. I say that, because parts of this was exciting, fun, and then there were times I just quit playing because I was bored out of my skull. I had played another in this series and found it really good, but this one lacked some of that excitement.
The graphics and sound were excellent. I can't say too much about the music, because I always turn the music down on my games, but the effects and the voice overs were very good. Just once I would like to go to a studio and see how all this is done.
The challenges ranged from pulling your hair out to recalling what you did learning numbers in grade school. I do admit I skipped several, not because they were too hard, but that I had seen them so many times in previous games. Several of the mini games were repeats. The hidden objects were of two kinds. One the regular find the object and the other find one piece to get to the next. That to me was the most difficult of all. There is a map which you will need to find your way around to the next part of the game. I suppose you could go without, but you would be playing this game forever and a day doing so. The regular hidden object scenes were very simple with clear and clean objects.
So far as the story, it was run of the mill. Big Fish does a great job explaining it so read the description. There was a beginning a middle and an ending with just a hint of another game to follow.
I am not sorry I bought this game, but there seemed to be a weak link between the story and what was going on. There were times it just made no sense whatsoever. I must have missed something in the beginning that explain part of game, because I caught myself wondering, why in the world did they do this or that. That's one reason I don't put a lot of faith in the demo versions.
I hope you enjoy this game. I did, kind of, sort of.
I was foaming at the mouth waiting for the SE version to arrive and bought it the day it became available.
This, like all the Dark Parable games, was a wonderful game. It had just enough differences from the other games to know that Blue Tea wasn't just resting on their laurels. Different twists to the hidden objects gave it a five star for me in fun.
The graphics were awesome. Clean and clear. The voice overs and cut scenes were extremely well done and the music was the best I have I heard in a long time, if ever. It went along with the scenes and that beat... that unique, upswing beat keeps going in my mind as I write this.
I mentioned that the new twist to the hidden objects. I didn't expect that whatsoever and was kind of taken aback when I ran into it. No spoiler here. You play and you will know what I am writing about. The mini games were different also. Not the same as before yet familiar enough that it wasn't a total new experience. There is a map, but like the other DP games, it really doesn't give away all that much. You do need to use the hint button, which recharges quickly, to find your way if you get lost. That however was not often.
The story too is a twist on an old tale just like all the other Dark Parable games. I was happy to finally have a male as the hero instead of a lady heroin involved in the story line. The story held together all the way through. I was confused about what was going on until, like all good novels, the ending showed to what this had been leading up.
I have but one regret. That I couldn't play the game through in one sitting. I swear I shall next time I play it.
If you enjoy unique hidden object games and rather challenging mini games, or if you have never played one of the games from this series, you owe it to yourself to do so. I would almost guarantee you will like the game and buy it. I didn't think they could improve on the other games, but this one is really good.
Oh Man! I waited so long for this to come out in SE, and now that it has, I can't play it in wide screen. Everything is so small, but that information is for the forums.
It was beginning to get fun when the time ran out. That hour passed like a bullet. I was catching ghosts left and right and was on the track to settle the whole thing. I was having fun. There were several each of the hidden objects and mini games. So, had I been able to see them, I would still be playing. There is a hint button which re-charges quickly and a map I was just getting the hang of when time expired. The journal did help fill some gaps.
The challenge was decent. I didn't skip any mini games which is an accomplishment for me, but they did offer some degree of thinking. The hidden objects were well done and concealed very well. The music was good and the voice overs were excellent! The sound effects were well done also.
I didn't get far enough into the game to actually gauge the story, but it was shaping up to be pretty good.
Were it not for the screen problem, I would have purchased this game. Be sure to try it out, because if you like hidden objects, mini games and a decent ghost story, you will like this.
This is a really difficult post for me. While some of this was enjoyable, others were very boring. I actually lost interest in the game along the way and would go back to it just to finish it up. To say this was fun to play is a bit of an over statement. I made it though, which I enough.
The graphics were really good and the voice overs were fantastic. This game had such potential, but somewhere along the line it left me. The Hidden Object Scenes were clear and relatively easy to find things. The music while not exciting didn't get on my nerves like some. It did go along with the story.
I did find this a challenging game. There are a couple types of hidden object scenes, the regular and the one where you put things into the scene by association. That was tough at times. You have the option to switch to a match 3 if game if you wish, and it just dawned on me I never did use it. Oh well, next time.
The mini games were very difficult for me. I either could not understand the instructions or just couldn't do many of them. I made good use of the skip button. I'm not the brightest bulb in the box and I'm sure there are those who just dashed right through them. Not me.
Your best friend in this game will once again be Mr. Map. I don't think there is anyway one could just find where they needed to go next. The map is extremely helpful. There is a journal which quite honestly I did not use very often. It just didn't seem to offer the kind of help I needed.
The story was the usual. No surprises there. It was interesting, but the only complaint I have was the ending. Talk about anticlimactic. They could have saved a few Mbs and simply put FINI across the screen and been done with it.
This is not the best game to come around, but it wasn't the worse. It was a middle of the road game with tremendous possibilities that weren't met. I'm not sorry I bought the game. It's a game and that is all there is to it. Give it a shot. You may really enjoy it..
I had played the original 4 Elements, but never got to finish it. I just couldn't get past the last puzzle. However, I saw this and decided to give it a try. After placing the game in relaxed mode, I had a ball! Even my granddaughter who was spending the weekend with me got into it. That's saying something for an almost teenage.
The graphics were awesome, the explosions explosive, and the sound fantastic. There really aren't too many voice overs and it is drawn in a cartoon style, but it is cutely done.
Before I switched to the relaxed mode with no timer, it was extremely challenging. I ran out of time so many times, the game suggested the relaxed mode... LOL So you have your choice to run your fingers to death or just solve the puzzles on your own pace. That is a great concept.
The story is rather juvenile in that we are dealing with fairies and the elements of the magic kingdom, but they too were fun. I don't like this game because of the story, but there is one and it presented very well.
I hate to cut this review short, but I need to get back to the game again. The fairies really need my help!
I rather enjoyed this game. There were parts that didn't seem to make sense to me, but all in all, I'm glad I bought it. It is full of dark horror, murder and revenge, but that's what the game is about. I did get bored a few times, but then something would catch my attention and off we would go again.
The graphics were good, and the voice overs and cut scenes were well done. The various voices depending on where you were in Europe were funny. I know they were to be serious and they did go along with the game, but I got a tickle each time they spoke.
Level of challenge is rather difficult to determine. The hidden object scenes were at times rather difficult to complete and I was forced to use the hint button more than I would like. Where I had my most sever challenge was the mini games. Half of the time, or more, I could not determine what I was suppose to do and would end up skipping them. The instructions were the challenge. I will play this again sometime and I'm sure I will understand them better, but for this I just did not understand. There are mini games I haven't seen before and some odd items in the hidden objects. Kept me on my toes.
There is a wonderful hint button which recharges quickly and an interactive map which is just marvelous. There are times when the story just doesn't let you know what you are suppose to be doing or where, but the map will save you most of the time. There is also a journal uniquely written as postcards. Going back to them helped quite a bit and made the journey much easier. Keep an eye on the lens which will be given to you at the beginning. It will show you the dark sides of the scene and give you and idea of what is to come.
The story is pretty much explained in the details of the game, but I have to admit I did get lost in the story line. It begins in a rather confusing manner, but alas at the end it all comes together. It appeared to me that perhaps the designers ran out of some things to do and started making up the story as they went along. It was a decent story with new characters I haven't seen.
I am not sorry I bought it and look forward to playing it again in the future.
