Ashley Clark detective that has been called on a case involving the disappears caused by an amulet. As Ashley investigates cases going back to the 1700s she is whisked away to the past. As she explores a castle she meets a variety of ghosts that she helps as she moves forward with the case: finding out what has turned the once noble and kind lord of the land into a hideous skeleton monster.
The story is great! The graphics are a bit grainy but I liked them because they gave the game a "noir" sort of feel. The voice over is good and the music good for this type of game. The puzzles are great. They are not that easy even in easy mode. The HOPs are interactive and some of the items are a bit of challenge to find. There are hints but limited but this can be solved by finding the red gems throughout the game to add more hints. There is a map so it make traveling easy because you can transport to the area. And Ashley's Journal is a big help because it collects clues she finds.
Many might not like this game because it doesn't give you any bells or whistles. You have to search each scene thoroughly to find items and remember where things are for later in the game. Though the map makes traveling between scenes there are not any indicators that tell you what is in that scene so you have to figure out everything on your own. So, my advice try the trial before you buy.
I recommend this game if you are looking for a good mystery set in a medieval castle, like challenging puzzles and don't want all the bells and whistles.
Completed CE: This is one of my favorite series and have played through all 7 games several times.

Complete CE: I enjoyed this game tremendously. The story was captivating all the way through. I found all the charming characters voiced well and applaud the use of famous story book characters.(Sorry no spoilers here. You have to play the game to find out who they are!) The graphics are exceptional and the scenes beautiful . And I loved the music score. The variety of puzzles was very entertaining and interactive HOs, a nice change from the old change of point and click. And there was a couple of twists really added to both the story and game. Plus, the extra bonus' with the CE were a nice touch.
I recommend this game in CE or SE. It's worth having in one's collection. This is a refreshing story with no doom or gloom, creepy or witches. Just a good old fashioned fairy tale with a blend of old and new mixed together for just the perfect, captivating game!
I recommend this game for ages 10+. I say this because places get a little dicey because of the medieval type of slaying, which did catch me off guard for such a game.
