I wasn't able to play the last game in this series because it didn't adjust to fit my large screen so I thought surely they have had plenty of time to address this issue since the first game in this series. Wrong! Once again, the screen was all jumbled with the outer edges showing portions of windows & icons in reverse on both sides!
When I select to disable the Fullscreen mode absolutely nothing happens, it doesn't take me to a windowed mode, it doesn't change anything so0 why bother to have the icon folks? Yes, I could, in theory, adjust my computer's resolution for this one single game...but that's not my responsibility, it's the developer's responsibility to make sure these games are up to date, surely I'm not the only player with a large screen monitor?
Honestly, I can play the Match 3 levels because there are no icons at the bottom or sides of the boards that I have to click. The problem is when I get to Catherine's Ship where I have to use my Map pieces to open the treasure and then battle pirate ships for the booty. I can barely see the icon to shoot my cannon because 99% of the icon is chopped off, but enough of the icon was showing that I could click the button. After the battle, however, I cannot see any exit icons and I get stuck because there is no way to get back to the Match 3 boards.
My only option at this point is to click ctrl/alt/del to pull up the task manager and exit out of the game. If this game were more exciting I would jump through these hoops every time, but it's basically the same concept as all their other Match 3 games with the exception of shooting a cannon at a pirate ship several times and having to endure lengthy downtime while I wait for the pirate ship to fire back after each of my shots, not to mention the fact that unlike the first game, Catherine Ragnor and the Fury of the Flying Dutchman, it doesn't give you an option to play in a Timed Mode, sooooo....

8FLOOR Games brings you the newest spell-binding adventure in the Royal Roads series! (?????)
Surely, there's a mixup because the synopsis doesn't match the actual gameplay?? "No One said running a kingdom would be easy", they should have added a warning about how hard it will be to make it to the end of the demo...and trust me, it ain't cuz the game's challenging!
The soundtrack was like fingernails on a chalkboard, the tall and lanky characters looked odd running back & forth, and why does it take 2 characters to remove a tree log on the path? Why do I have to pick up stones in the field if they are nowhere near the paths, and why are there wheat fields everywhere that aren't used? If I have to pick up rocks in the middle of the field wouldn't it make sense to harvest those crops while I'm there? Why do I need crystals to upgrade the worker's houses? Are they magical, is this a fantasy game?
Every time a popup window appeared, the screen would go staticky like Aliens just invaded Earth and took over all broadcasting outlets once I clicked OK and then a giant black bar would appear on either the left or right of the screen depending on where the popup window appeared. It was as if the game was constantly switching resolutions?
There's no spell-binding adventure here, the story is dull and you can't even skip through it! The tasks were repetitive and the resources to collect were ordinary, how many bridges must we repair and why do we have to repeat the same tasks at every level? The only thing that changes level to level is how many of the bridges we are punished to repair! By the time someone gets to level 50, they will be tasked with repairing thousands of bridges at this rate...I say "someone" cuz it ain't gonna be me!

This Collector's Edition version has 14 Achievement Trophies (one of which should be for enduring the game in 1-minute increments) 6 Music Soundtracks, (best of luck listening to these) a whopping 3 Concept Art pictures (probably for the best, seriously, what are you supposed to do with unfinished art sketches?) 50 Main Levels, 11 Bonus Levels, a built-in Strategy Guide, and a whole lotta boring game content.
Ya know what's NOT boring? Taking a stroll through The Woods Forum! If you miss chatting with fellow fishies from the Big Fish Forum days then grab a thermos full of coffee, throw on your favorite jeans & t-shirt, and lace up your hiking boots...ah who are we kidding...just come as you are...keep your comfy fuzzy slippers on, and come chillax with us by the campfire at thewoodsforum.boards.net

Delicious Solitaire cleverly combines popular solitaire gameplay with fun palate-pleasing themes from the kitchen.

One of my favorite Solitaire games was created by this developer (see link for the current favorite) After introducing that game they have tried to recreate the "magic" with all preceding games by simply changing the graphics while offering the same solitaire levels in every game, in other words, they only changed the graphics and the theme.
Although they did change the solitaire levels slightly in Delicious Solitaire, they are really basically the same, they just offer fewer cards to remove from each pile. That's a BIG problem for me because that was the single feature that made Magnussoft Solitaire games so fun! What I am referring to is the fact that you never knew if a pile had just one card or 50 cards hidden underneath and your first instinct was to go after the piles that show multiple cards spread out which always had less than that single suspicious card pile!
The fact that there were massive amounts of cards to remove in Magic Cards Solitaire on each level also meant that I could make huge chains (remove 20-30 cards in one draw) The result was a lengthy level that seemed satisfying and challenging at the same time, which wasn't the case in Delicious Solitaire. They give you a decent amount of Deck Cards and very few cards to remove from the board, so the end result is a game where each level can be completed within a few seconds. This is what I refer to as Speed Solitaire, the level goals are achieved almost immediately and it was rare that I had to replay a level to earn all 3 stars.
You can choose from 3 different Card Fonts, a traditional card, a themed card with large font, and a themed card with normal font. You can choose from 6 different Card Backs (use the arrows to scroll through them) and there are 5 different Rewards that can be earned in tiers from 0/10 to 0/50,000. There are 4 Types of Solitaire available starting with a traditional Golf variant and each variant has 42 levels.
Jokers and number-specific Wildcards are uncovered while playing, and they can be purchased in the Shop with the coins you earn. You may want to save your money, however, because every hint or undo you use will cost 100 coins! At first, I thought a hint feature was worthless but then I thought it could be useful in some of the other solitaire variants??

I loved Photo Puzzle HD so Puzzle Box was an immediate purchase for me. In Photo Puzzles there were different variations of photo puzzles such as Square Rotations, Strips, and Swap Squares with a few other puzzle variations. In Puzzle Box you get a huge variety of puzzles. This is the perfect type of game to keep the ole brain firing on all cylinders while having a blast!

Puzzle Box has such a variety that surely everyone can find a variation they love. This is the type of game that can be played and replayed several times and never gets old because there are so many game variations, not to mention categories and difficulty modes to overcome. I love Word Games which are hard to find nowadays, and this game includes several variations, it's well worth $6.99 in my opinion!

They couldn't bother to change the Christmas music? This is a clutter type of game but it doesn't even compare to the original Clutter series. There are several oversights as kerith90angel mentioned, I'll add that when removing objects in the "Flower" category there are several Cacti variations, including ones with blooms but nothing with a cactus counts?
I also hate those Sun Hint icons, most of the challenge in the game comes from the fact that there are a gazillion suns that are literally the size of a golf ball so they clutter the board and cover everything you are supposed to be trying to find. You are left with no choice but to click to remove them just so you can see the clutter objects! I can understand having 5-10 on each level, but there are more sun icons than actual objects...at a bare minimum make them smaller (take notes from the real Clutter games if need be!)
There are only two modes of difficulty, Easy Mode which has no time restraints, and a Difficult mode with a time limit that gives you 500 extra points for not using Hints, and 10 extra points for time remaining. There are 140 Clutter-type levels that can be replayed if you want to earn a better score and there are 20 Puzzles available as well.

Most of the puzzles are simple square swap variations with complicated mechanics, such as swapping adjacent squares, and each time you swap a square the orientation changes. I hate these types of puzzles because they are frustrating and annoying and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to play games for relaxation so why not have mini-games that are simply jigsaw variations, spider solitaire. word search...better yet, add a Spot the Differences variation. There's a big difference between a challenging game and one that is challengingly frustrating.

First of all, this is the kind of game where you can earn all 3 stars on each level without having to speed-click at a break-neck pace. The goals are completely doable, requiring organization, multi-tasking, and of course, Time Management skill versus frustration and and a bunch of random mad-clicking, which is how a Time Management game should be!
I also loved the fact that each chapter had a completely different theme, for example, in the Historical Society setting I was selling magazines, notebooks, stamps, and even making copies on the copy machine. The next chapter was a Resort where I was issuing keys to a room, and then delivering coffee & newspapers, etc...I just have one question... what the heck were all those single lumberjacks doing in that 5 minute room?
Some levels have "Challenge Quests" where you are tasked with doing something above and beyond the normal goals, such as completing several full orders, reading papers, making copies, or having full hearts on all customers. Those levels are shown with a Crown. After the first few levels a pop-up Raccoon appears briefly and needs to be clicked on to catch him for extra diamonds and those levels will have a Raccoon Face icon as well.
The Diamonds earned are used to collect resources and upgrade the locations. Some of the items require a combination, some require multiple copies, and some inventory items need to be restocked. There are 24 Achievements that have several categories and I loved the fact that when you earn an achievement it shows up on the icon and when you click on the achievement icon, it automatically takes you to each individual achievement, one at a time.
I'm getting bored with the same old diner-dash TM games where the goals are basically the same, they just take place in different restaurants. With this game, each chapter was a completely different theme and I wasn't just serving snacks to customers who get angry and refuse to leave a tip! Well done Square Root of Tree, well done!

I did enjoy this new HOG, some of the items were very challenging to spot, there is a nice variety of HO styles, and I was somewhat interested in the story about a blogger from Dayton, Ohio who has been asked to promote a failing Hotel business in Paris.
I get it, everyone wishes BoomZap would go back to its roots and create the HOPA masterpieces we fell in love with, but the truth be told, they make a bigger profit on HOGs, not to mention the fact that they didn't have much of a choice in the matter (long story)
First Time in Paris can be played in an Easy Mode (Hint recharges in 15 seconds-Super Hint recharges in 30 seconds) Medium Mode (Hint recharges in 30 seconds-Super Hint recharges in 45 seconds) or a Hard Mode (Hint recharges in 45 seconds-Super Hint recharges in 60 seconds)

Each scene has ? (question marks) to find with an associated Fun Fact, and the levels can be replayed to earn a better score but the objects to find each time are different. Each scene usually has an interactive task (Drag item to the logical source) and once the interaction is complete, the object becomes a zoom zone with more Hidden Objects. The HO's vary with Listed Item Finds, Multiples of the Same Type, Scrambled Words, or Matching Pairs where you must find the object and the matches.
After completing the HO scene, you will play a mini-game such as a Jigsaw, Matching Pairs, Cycle Through squares to find the correct picture, or Drag & Swap squares to complete an image. The mini-games can be skipped once the skip bar fills.
The CE version has a Story Mode, Unlimited Mode (scenes unlock as you play them in Story Mode) 6 Bonus Chapters, 16 Achievements in the CE and 15 in the SE, 38 Photo Journal Pictures in the CE & 26 in the SE (unlocks as you play the mini-games) 13 Music Soundtracks, and 12 Wallpapers.

Again, I mean no disrespect to this developer but there's no comparison to the other Art By Numbers game. These images are boring and most of the paintings are just a single small simplistic design in the center of the page. It's a painting game, who doesn't want to paint the entire picture??
What really makes this game unappealing is the fact that the colors are ugly and drab not to mention the fact that there are basically no color variations from area to area they are just separated by huge black lines. The end result is a flat 2D image of basic drawings that one would expect to see in a toddler's coloring book. An artist would use several color variations to give the image depth and these colors neither represent a true-to-life color palette nor an abstract painting with wild and vibrant colors...I'm telling you the colors are dreadful so the game has no curb appeal!
The black lines are way too thick and because of that, some areas are practically non-existent. How many times have you searched for that last area in Paint By Numbers and finally found an area the size of a pencil nib...usually after giving up in frustration and using the hint? Now, how many times has this scenario happened in the "other Art game?? ZERO is the answer!
This may all sound brutal, and I realize there are still a few diehard Paint By Number fans out there but these are all facts and I urge this developer to buddy up with someone who has an artistic flair to at the very least figure out what colors to offer for each image. I get that there is a Freeplay section to allow the player to select their own colors now, but that doesn't do a thing when the images are unappealing and still have huge black lines!

Thank you Casual Arts, you have always taken me to a special place every time I play Vacation Adventures but this trip to Pinecreek Hills National Park was a journey I will treasure forever!
What other game series instantly gives you that warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling? I have purchased every game by this developer before even playing the demo and have yet to be disappointed. There's just something about the atmosphere, the familiar gameplay, the fun little puzzles, and the infamous music that puts a smile on your face. Smiles are priceless and I'm grinning from ear to ear today!
You can play in a Casual Mode (untimed-faster hint recharge) a Challenge Mode (timed-normal hint recharge) or Extreme (timed as to how long it takes to complete the scene-all wildlife & recyclables must be found) There are 20 Achievements to earn for completing various tasks such as finding Wildlife, buying souvenirs, or finishing a mini-game quickly. You can purchase 16 Park Souvenirs which are stored in a Display Case tab at the top of the screen.
There are seek and find puzzles in scenes all around the park, and even scenes where you find multiples of similar or related objects, Riddle Clue finds and clever Spot The Difference HO's.
Each scene has several Wildlife Animals to find that are shown as silhouettes in a box to the left of the word search bar and when all the animals have been spotted, the doors will close. There is a Wildlife Notebook that allows you to see illustrations of all the wildlife you have found.
You will also Recycle cans, bottles, and paper found in each scene, and when all recyclables have been found, the recycle Can icon will be displayed as full. Some of the trash items are located within Zoom Zones as well.
There are 16 Photo Op scenes that allow you to take a photo for your Album whenever you see the Camera Icon so don't forget to keep an eye out for those Photo Ops.
You will earn an Eagle Eye achievement if you don't use either the Hint Magnifying Glass that shows the location of a single random item or the Mega Hint feature which shows the location of all available items from the list. You'll earn a Bronze Star for completing the Search, a Silver Star if you find all Wildlife OR all Recyclable Items, and a Gold Star if you find all Wildlife AND all Recyclable items.
Words listed in Blue are Tasks that require an interaction of some type, and words in Red are hidden inside or behind things. Most of the scenes have at least one Zoom Zone (indicated by sparkling stars) that has hidden items and sometimes includes Recyclables or Wildlife. Levels can be replayed at any time to better your time/score or pick up missing recyclable items or wildlife. and the items to find are usually different each time you replay it.
After each Search Scene, you'll play a variety of Mini Games such as Placing Map Shapes, Spot The Difference, Word Search, or several different types of Jigsaw Puzzles (Rotate Squares, Swap Tile Sections, Flipsaw's, Slider Puzzles, etc.)

This is a simple little Hidden Object Game with some fantastic features and if you take the time to stop and smell the roses, so to speak you will see that this developer has really worked hard and is always striving for perfection! I have played every game by this developer and game after game I see vast improvements and wonderful "extras" offered. This is just an old-fashioned HOG but it has all the bling one could possibly desire and in my opinion, the entertainment this game provides to HOG-lovers is well-worthy of its price!
The HO scenes can be played in an Easy Mode with no Timer or Misclick Penalties, a Normal Mode which is Timed (approx. 14 minutes) but has no Misclick Penalties, or a Hard Mode which has a Timer and Misclick Penalties. You can earn up to 3 Stars, one for completing the scene, one for finding all of the collectible Hearts, and the third for finding all GPS Icons.
There is a Zoom +/- feature (click to zoom & drag the screen around) as well as a Hint Feature AND a Morphing Object Hint which is a fantastic addition! In the Timed Mode, you are given approximately 14 minutes to find 15 Listed items. You can also enable a Scrambled Words variation (levels 21-40) and/or a Missing Letter variation (levels 41-60) Each scene has a single Zoom Zone location that contains the final 3 objects, or the first 3 objects, or quite possibly the middle 3 objects, depending on how you look at it.
Each scene contains 5 Golden Eggs which is way better than a single giant gold coin! Each scene also has a Morphing Object that always morphs slowly and morphs into a similar object to make it even more challenging...the "big guys" should take lessons on how a morph should be from this developer! If you give up, there's always the Morphing Object Hint button!
Each scene has 3 Hearts and 3 GPS icons. Finding all 3 Hearts will unlock 3 new animal pictures (180) in an album. Finding all 3 GPS icons will unlock a new picture of the HO scene location (80 total) You can also purchase 18 Gift Shop Souvenirs with the points/money earned. You can improve your star rating by replaying the scenes, but the objects to find are different each time you play.
