Completed CE game 5 hours (including CE Bonus Chapter & all puzzles) Demo only Standard Edition
When Prince Gradlon from the Lutetia Kingdom first met Princess Tehda of Y's, they fell hopelessly in love with one another. Their bond united the rocky relationship between the two kingdoms, but jealousy reared its ugly head dooming Y's and all who lived there. The mythical city of Y's has been swallowed by an unforgiving sea, decaying past the point of no return for centuries. Y's is nothing more than an Atlantian tale now, lost and all but forgotten, until today! The Myth Seekers have discovered an ancient artifact that could shine the light on the city and all its glory, or bring with it all the darkness of its seedy past!
Bravo Sunward Games! I loved the storyline, puzzles, and Hidden Object Scenes. I do feel this Standard Edition version is a better choice because honestly, the Collector's Edition version didn't have a lot to offer. There were no morphs, and not very many re-playable games, etc, the only CE bling offered were Collectible Ysian Masks, and they weren't very challenging to find. They didn't even have an option to return to the scenes to pick up any Masks you may have forgotten to look for, so I really think you won't miss what's missing in this Standard Edition version!
The Hidden Object Scenes are awesome! I rarely find HOP's to be challenging nowadays because the items are never hidden, they are just laying amongst a junk pile, but I found myself staring at more than one scene as I tried to find some of the objects because they were blended so well (the rat took me forever!) Although they are mostly Interactive Listed Item Finds, there are also Progressive~Interactive Silhouetted~Shape Finds, Fragmented~Shape Finds (frogs) Multiples of the same object Finds, and Pictured Item Finds. There are only 10 HOP's offered (+2 in the CE BC) not including the 3-4 Story Progression, Keywords in Sentence Finds because they are considered Mini-Games here. There is an alternate Pair~Matching mini-game available that's actually kind of fun.
The Mini-Games are all doable kind of puzzles. There are 26 Actual Mini-Games (as listed by Sunward as mini-games, not Hop's) Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorites in this game:
1-Rotate hands/pipes to allow energy to flow from the bottom to 3 crystals on top. 2-Slide gargoyles until each row matches the gargoyles on the left. 3-Move the silver ball thru every point only once. 4-Move triangle puzzle pieces by rotating diamond-shaped sections.ღ 5-Use directional arrows to navigate according to the landmark clues. 6-Place colored wires into each partial symbol to recreate the color-coded symbols shown. 7-Swap & rotate circular stone tokens to recreate a picture. 8-Click up to 16 Musical notes to guide the bird to the Soul Amulet. ღ 9-Flip over 2 tokens at a time to find matching pairs of symbols.
The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter wasn't very impressive, but prequels aren't my favorite, I'd much rather continue with the main story or delve into the detail of a missing link scenario. You play as a Baker's apprentice in Y's along with his Ferret Miffy. There's a lot of "Find this, place that, go here, go there's" but there's only 3 Mini-Games and 2 Hidden Object Scenes in the entire fairly lengthy bonus chapter. You will complete the Collection of the final 5 Ysian Masks as well.
The Collector's Edition version has 8 Wallpapers (yeah! no character's to ruin the beautiful scenery) 8 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Movie Video Cutscenes, 8 Re-Playable Hidden Object Scenes, 8 Re-Playable Mini-Games, 18 Story-Based & 10 Skill-Based Achievements, 27 Collectible Ysian Masks (7~8~7~5 of each type) 6 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

I love solving puzzles of just about any kind, and I especially love Mosaic puzzles as long as they are solved logically rather than making you guess or use a bonus of some kind. I usually enjoy World's Greatest Cities/Places Mosaic games, so I figured this one would fit the bill as well. After solving several puzzles my mind began to wander, and I had to keep trying to focus on the puzzle, so I figured I was just distracted and I quit the game, determined to revisit it a little later. The following day I tried again and realized they were really easy to solve and didn't require a lot of thought. By the time I finished the demo, I had no desire to purchase the game even though the demo ended mid-puzzle as usual. I play Mosaics for relaxation, but at the same time, I still want a little bit of challenge, so my opinion of this game is just a personal preference and others may very well love it.
The main feature of this series is that they take you to the World's Greatest Cities and tell you some interesting facts about the city you are visiting. You can play in a Casual, Normal or Expert difficulty mode, or you can customize the difficulty mode by choosing if you want to play in a timed mode, if you want bonus points as a time bonus, whether you want numbers crossed off one by one or only when the entire row has been completed, and you can set the number of mistakes allowed from 1-5 and how long it takes for the hint feature to recharge from 30-120 seconds.
The controversial Segment Length Checker feature has returned. You can turn it on or off, but when it's on, it shows you how many cells there are in both the column and row (with directional arrows so you won't get confused) some reviewers loved it, others hated it on game number 7, but you don't want the intrusiveness, you can always turn it off.
There are 3 different types of Mosaics offered in this version:
*Traditional (multi-colored) which has different colors to switch between to help you solve the puzzle. In some of the puzzles, some sections may be locked, requiring you to complete a different color to unlock those sections.
*Mystery Lands which fills in each cell with 3 different kinds of pictures that when complete forms a beautiful scene, often with swimming fish, turtles, boats and even ants and bugs crawling around on the lawn.
*Labyrinth Game is similar to Mystery Lands, but after completing the puzzle, you guide a ball through the maze from point A to B by clicking on intersections of the maze.
The filled-in cells on some of the Mystery Lands and Labyrinth style mosaics are very similar and it can make it difficult at times to tell where one color left off and the other begins, and it's easy to make a mistake. You can choose between 10 different Tilesets, but I didn't notice any new features this time around.

Being a Mall Security Guard working alone from sunset to sunrise can get pretty boring, but the guards at this particular mall have literally gone insane! The last two security guards were so traumatized, they had to be transferred to a mental facility Both guards mumbled the same thing in a catatonic state, the mannequins are alive! After losing two guards to the same odd phenomena, they decide to bring in the expert, Rick Rogers the Paranormal Investigator. Get 'em shopping!
Bravo Elephant Games! I can't remember the last time a Collectible was this challenging to find. I probably could have wrapped this game up in half the time it took me if I hadn't spent so much time staring at each scene to "see" the Hidden Eye. This is how it should be folks, it's meant to be an extra challenge, unlike the other dev who places a giant white turtle in the middle of the scene to click on (I say click on because you don't have to find them, your eyes trip over them, you click on them to get them out of your way!) The Statues and Morphing Objects were well done too, but those eyes had me stumped in most of the scenes, a love-hate relationship lol. I loved everything about this game, I especially loved that Elephant strayed away from that old habit of adding so many cliche tasks, however, the story about a Mask that possesses the person who wears it has just been used so many times, it was just so unoriginal, and for the lack of storyline creativity, I deducted a star. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that there are NO GADGETS>>><<< doing my happy dance >>><<<
There are 10 Hidden Object Scenes and 5 smaller Zoom Zone HO Scenes (+6 in the Bonus Chapter) Elephant Games does a great job with scene location selections, most of the locations are interesting and make the HO's more appealing, in my opinion. The first one takes place within the CCTV monitors, using arrows to switch camera views and one where you Find and Replace objects using a button to flip the scene over were really interesting, but my absolute favorite scene was a two-part Saltwater Aquarium scene finding Matching fish by selecting plants and decorations they were hiding behind. There are also Interactive List Finds, Finding Items with a Flashlight, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Multiples of the Same Object Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, and Progressive, Interactive Listed Item Finds. The items are nicely blended into the scenery and the scenes are very clear with items that are easily identifiable. In this CE version, you can unlock 3 Bonus HOS by finding the hidden Eyes.
There are 16 Mini-Games (+8 within the Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter) I enjoyed several of the games offered because they were actually problem-solving or mechanical type puzzles that required you to put a little bit of thought into them. These are brief descriptions of some of the games I enjoyed:
1~Navigate a maze using directional arrows and selecting buttons to open gates. 2~Choose the number of moves & the rotation to enter the correct codes. ღ 3~Use directional arrows to pick up 2 beads to swap their placements to arrange matching beads on both ends. ღღ 4~Replicate the pattern on a key by selecting buttons to drill the shape & depth shown. ღ 5~Use directional arrows to move cubes until all are destroyed when they touch. ღღღ
The Collector's edition Bonus Chapter takes place one month after the Shopping Mall incident. Detective Griffin arrives at Rick Rogers house to inform him that they have finally wrapped up their investigation. Unfortunately, Detective Griffin receives a distress call when the Shopping Mall experiences more Paranormal Activity. Rick punches the clock once more to do some serious ghost-busting shopping. This is an average length chapter with 9 scene locations containing 8 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes. You will pick up the remaining 3 Character Statues, 9 Morphing Objects, and 9 Hidden Eyes, which unlocks the final (3/3) Bonus Hidden Object Scene within the Secret Room.
This Collector's Edition has 10 Wallpapers (not very interesting and only 1 w/o a character) 10 Concept Art Pictures, 1 Screensaver (horrible scene choice) 5 Music Soundtracks, 13 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 13 Replayable Mini-Games, <another # discrepency> There are only 17 Achievements To Earn (*note that one achievement has 5 categories, another has 3 categories) 27 Scene Morphing Objects, 27 Extremely Well-hidden Eyes, 12 Character Statues, a Secret Room with 3 Bonus Hidden Object Scenes (unlock by finding 6~14~25 Eyes) 5 Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

Ahh, the life of a movie star, everyone wants the life of a famous actress, but William Gladstone wants more than Virginia's Hollywood lifestyle, he wants her soul! It's time to solve another paranormal crime mystery, but hey, at least you get a free cruise.
There is a Gadget, your smartphone allows you to make an otherworldly call to the spirit world to speak with the dearly departed (data rates, messaging, and roaming fees may apply) It may be annoying, but it's megabits better than those stupid glasses featured in the earlier Mystery Tales Games! Now apparently, I can see the ghosts without the aid of my geeky glasses, but I'm still trying to figure out how all of the ghosts, not only know how to contact me via cell phone but how did they know my otherworldly phone number?
Once again, Domini has made a game toooo loonnggg, and filled it with useless, repetitive, repetitive tasks. (yes, that was on purpose) Domini has slipped into a bad habit of throwing in everything but the kitchen sink to make their games longer. They put in so many mindless, and repetitive, repetitive filler tasks, which doesn't have anything to do with the plot or its progression until it becomes mind-numbingly boring to the point that you just want it to end! I get it, it's a fine line between quality and quantity.
Some of the Hidden Object Scenes had clever concepts or were located in interesting scenes. There are only 13 HOP's in the main game and 5 in the CE Bonus Chapter, which pales in comparison to the over-abundance of Mini-games. There are several Keywords in Sentence Finds, Pictured Item Finds, Interactive List Finds, Vertical & Horizontal Slider Finds (match missing silhouettes) Combination Silhouetted Shape Finds, and Multiple of the Same Object Finds. A few of my favorites: A very unique scene where you choose the correct answer to the Joker's Riddles (Multiple Choice) and then find 3 Silhouetted Objects related to the answer. Finding 4 Objects relating to each paragraph's descriptions. Finding Multiples of Symbols (one of which morphs) on leaves filled with hieroglyphs. There is an alternate Match 3 game available, and one of the CE Achievements require you to opt for at least 1 HOP as the alternate M3.
There are a ton of Mini-Games, 29 in the Main Game and another 8 within the CE Bonus Chapter. Domini always gives you the option to choose between an Easy or Hard Mode, and you can also choose which difficulty mode is presented, in the Custom Setting (you can always manually switch per puzzle) Below are brief descriptions of some of the games I found interesting:
1-Drag a chain of colored tokens onto their matching colored squares on a grid. 2-Examine the clues and select the facts that match the photo. 3-Adjust the timing of gauges so they will push the ball past the holes to the end.ღ 4-Use directional arrows to guide the token to push the yellow ball to the end (gr8 "push the box" concept but way too simple even on hard mode Domini!) 5-Arrange flowers so the connecting flowers have related patterns.ღ 6-Slide skeletal hands to their color-coded columns. 7-Place Dominos to match either end to capture opponents pieces. 8-Play a card of the same color, larger cards beat smaller cards. 9-Rotate Skeleton head, arms & legs to align with each token. 10-Place all of the stars on the grid w/o intersecting rays. 11-Collect 3 of the same cards, collecting 4 of the same cards gains 1 point, 3 points to win.
The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter has us back on the case when Virginia's Soul is once again taken while filming her latest film, Puppet Witch (that's gotta have some long-term effects) There are 8 Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes and you'll pick up the remaining 4 Morphing Cards, 4 Cocktail Drinks, and 10 Zoom Zone Casino Chips which allows you to purchase the remaining VIP Room items.
The Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 24 Movie Video Cutscenes, 15 Re-playable Mini-Games, 18 Re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Achievements, 14 Morphing Playing Cards (with origin descriptions) 15 Collectible Cocktail's (yum) 60 Zoom Zone Casino Chips (used to buy 15 VIP Room items) 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

World-renowned archaeologist Alvaro De Lucca has asked Dr. Ann Walters to join his excavation at Pompeii where he believes they have discovered incredibly important artifacts. Seismic activity stemming from Mt. Vesuvius has been hampering their progress, but as luck would have it, Dr. Walters hits the jackpot before even lifting a shovel! Neptune's Trident sends the good Doctor on a worldwide adventure from Pompeii to Egypt, France, and Sicily, searching for 3 Shells that adorn the Amethyst encrusted Trident. (reminds me of the movie Demolition Man & the 3 seashells in the bathroom) Completing Neptune's Trident is the only way to discover its true potential, but someone went to great lengths to prevent this from happening. Centuries have passed, the gods have been long forgotten, does Neptune's Trident wield otherworldly powers? Should we tempt fate on yet another Hidden Expedition?
Gadgets...get your Gadgets! We have so many Gadgets you're gonna wish we didn't have so many Gadgets! Clearly, Eipix didn't think this one thru, it's like I always say, a gamer won't specifically search for a game to play because it HAS a Gadget, but gamers WIIL opt to PASS on a game that has a Gadget, so why would knock out half of your gaming audience from the get-go by purposely adding a Gadget? Not to mention the fact that the Gadget has no curb appeal, and then take it one step further, to throw in a whole kitchen sink worth?
Worthless & Annoying Gadgets (each time a tool is used it requires you to slide a button to align the image. Why? Did I miss something? Are these tools from a different planet?)
*Examination Kit that contains 3 ordinary tools: (or are they?) COMPASS: Detects Amethyst...duh~used 3 times +3 slider games. FLASHLIGHT: Helps brighten dark areas~used 8 times +8 slider games. MAGNIFYING GLASS: Makes small things appear large~used 9 times +9 slider games. LATIN BOOK: translates ancient parchment that somehow survived the Pompeii "incident"?~used 7 times, doesn't require slider game (& always located at the far left of the inventory bar...scrolling) HIEROGLYPHIC DICTIONARY: translates gobblygook ancient Egyptian drawings, that also survived for centuries, into words that make sense, get the picture?~used 4 times (no slider game required)
There are 16 Hidden Object Scenes (+4 within the Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter) I will admit that some of the objects are cleverly hidden, but sometimes it was because of a lack of clarity within the scenes making it difficult to identify the object. You will use the Magnifying Glass from the Evidence Kit on 3 of the Hidden Object Scenes, which of course requires you to slide a button on a bar to align images before it can be used. There are several Keywords In Sentence Finds which helps to progress the storyline, but there are also Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Finding and Replacing Items, Pictured Item Finds, Fragment Finds, Multiple's Finds, and Combination Silhouetted Shape Finds (_+_=_) Most of the HO Scenes are multi-layered and offer 2-3 different types in each scene, and in this Collector's Edition version, each of the HO scenes have a fairly well hidden Morphing Object. You can re-play the Hidden Object Scenes in the CE extra's menu to pick up any Morphs you may have missed.
There are 17 Mini-Games +20 Tool Kit repetitive slider puzzles (+4 in the CE Bonus Chapter) They range from super simplistic to medium difficulty, and most can be solved on the first attempt. As I said earlier, there is a repetitive mini-game associated with the Examination Kit which was super annoying, requires no skill, and is a complete waste of time. To play this particular so-called "puzzle" you simply slide a button across a horizontal line until 3 disk sections align together. If someone can't slide a button, I'm pretty sure they won't be able to play this game in the first place, so why have it? This is repeated 20 times!
These are some of the mini-games I did actually enjoy: 1~Rotate reels using directional arrows & drag letter tiles to match the clue. ღ 2~Jump tokens to swap their positions. 3~Eliminate the enemy tokens by trapping them between 2 tokens. ღ 4-Set numbers until all the bonds between pentagons have identical numbers. ღღ 5-Place triangular puzzle pieces until all partial edge images align. 6-Use buttons to rotate & change patterns on disk sections.ღღ
The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter rewinds the clock to 200-BC playing as a Roman Emissary named Agrippina. Disaster and chaos don't take long to catch up, and we soon find ourselves shipwrecked and at the mercy of a crazed Captain Cornelius who desperately wants to become a god to controls Neptune's Children. The is a fairly short Bonus Chapter with only 8 Scenes, 4 Mini-Games, and 4 Hidden Object Scenes. There are 8 large & obvious Stone Turtles remaining (after completing the BC you can return to the scenes to pick up missed Turtles) There are only 2 remaining Hidden Object Morphs (you can pick up missed Morphs by playing the HOP's in the CE "extra's" section, as well as earning Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medals, and missed HOP Achievements) There are no Fact Cards remaining within the Bonus Chapter.
This Collector's Edition version has 8 Wallpapers (only 3 have characters on them, yay) 4 Concept Art Pictures (with before/after sliders) 9 Music Soundtracks, 12 Movie Video Cutscenes, 14 Re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 16 Re-playable Mini-Games, 13 Achievements To Earn (5 achievements have 3 categories) 21 Fact Cards, 14 Morphs (within the Hidden Object Scenes only) 39 so large you can't miss 'em Stone Turtles (Hidden Signs) a Souvenir Room (search 21 Scenes to find a souvenir in each location) 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide. If this game had an option for playing in a Timed Mode only, I would have immediately purchased it, but I rarely enjoy a Limited Moves Match 3 game. There is, however, an Expert Mode of difficulty which is maddeningly challenging, and incorporates both Limited Moves AND Limited Time! There is also a Relaxed Mode (unlimited time and moves) and a Casual Mode of difficulty with Limited Moves, but you won't earn Stars in either of those modes.
There are 4 Pyramid locations and each Pyramid has 20 Match 3 Levels which can be replayed as often as you'd like. Halfway through the levels, you get to play a really creative three-part Match 3 Bonus game where you must remove all tiles. The tiles don't regenerate so you have to use strategy to and anticipate the pattern of the falling tiles. (there are unlimited moves and time in the Bonus Game) Completing Level 20 gives you the Key to unlock the next Pyramid. There are 13 Achievements to earn as well. I was a little disappointed that it doesn't allow you to switch between difficulty modes, I started out in the Expert Mode and then switched over to the Casual Mode to see the differences, and had to start over from the beginning. When playing in Casual or Relaxed Modes, you get unlimited Time, but you have to meet the Level Goals (removing a specified number of specified tiles) within a specified number of Moves, and they don't give you enough moves in my opinion (relaxed mode has no limits) In the Expert Mode, you are required to meet the level goals within a specified number of Moves, and to make it even more challenging, there is a Star Time Meter that winds down very quickly. You can earn 3 Gold Stars, 2 Silver Stars or 1 Bronze Star, so you can actually have moves remaining but only get 1 or 2 stars if you don't complete the level at break-neck speeds!
Large Matches will award you with Bonuses on the board, but unlike other M3 games lately, there aren't a ton of large Matches available, so you do have to work at finding large matches. I was also a little disappointed that you can't make consecutive matches quickly because you have to wait for tiles to finish dropping before making the next match. I also noticed that in Expert Mode, the timer keeps winding down when you make the final match until the tiles stop falling!
Bonus Tiles (color specific) ~Match 4: Horizontal or Vertical Line buster. ~Match 5: Pharoah to remove all of the same tiles as matched with. ~T Shape Match: Bomb to explode adjacent tiles. ~L Shape Match: Removes tiles in an X formation. ~Combo Bonuses: Swap 2 Bonuses to combine for a larger explosion.
As you progress you will use the coins you earn to Restore and Upgrade Egyptian God Statues. They can be used to help you beat the levels, but they must charge and recharge after each use.
~Houus: destroys selected tokens and several random tokens. ~Osiris: changes the color of tokens. ~Anubis: destroys selected tokens and several random tokens. ~Hathor: destroys a row of tokens. ~Isis: destroys a column of tokens. ~Tot: swaps a regular token for a combo booster. ~Ra: swaps tokens even if they don't match.

I was rather surprised to see my full name entered on the profile when I opened this game for the very first time, to be honest, it kind of creeped me out. After the initial shock, I moved forward with the game and searched for the so-called "3 Modes of gameplay" but the only settings I could find were for the sound and windowed mode so I can't comment on any mode but the Timed mode. Personally, I'd prefer to play Mahjong in a Relaxed Mode because that's the whole reason I would choose to play Mahjong, for relaxation!?!
The mahjong tiles are quite large as one reviewer stated, but there aren't any options to choose other tilesets, or they could be located in the same place as the "3 modes of difficulty" The Mahjong itself has the usual Mahjong features of removing matching pairs that aren't blocked by other tiles, Flower tiles can be matched with any other Flower tile, and Season tiles can be matched with any other Season tile. Some levels have special Red tiles that must be removed to beat the level, even if other tiles remain.
There is a Hint, Shuffle and Undo feature available in limited numbers, more can be purchased with the gold you earn playing the Mahjong levels. The Multiplier will increase your score when you make matches quickly, and also decreases when you don't. You can earn up to 3 Gold Stars per level, and you can replay levels to earn more gold. Each time you replay a level, the Mahjong layouts will be different.
With each level completed, you earn a section of an Artifact that must be dragged to the correct artifact outline within the Photo Album icon, located on the bottom left. There are 8 Artifacts in each location, across France, Italy, and Greece. (Provence, Marseille, Cannes, Venice, Rome, Naples, Athens, Santorini, and Crete)

I'm still not a fan of the Limited Moves Match 3 games offered by this particular developer, but I will give them credit for adding some really challenging obstacles to this game. I liked the Crime-solving scenario of playing Match 3 levels to earn Stars which are used to "Investigate" the crime scenes via a Hidden Object Scene, but there are only a handful of Listed Items to find, just when you start to enjoy finding Hidden Objects, it's over!
The Match 3 levels are still the same Intersol "sticky-sweet" Match 3 games. I have never been a fan of M3 games that gives you so many large matches that you are constantly getting Bonuses on the board. With all those bonuses, nearly every move you make causes an explosion of some sort which really plays the game for you, some levels require a handful of strategic moves and the explosions do the work for you!
You are given a specified number of Limited Moves to obtain the level goals, usually removing a specified number of specified icons, as well as removing all tan colored cells, some levels require you to drop items to the bottom of the board A Match 4 will give you a Horizontal or Vertical Line buster, a Match 5 will give you a Police Light that removes all of the same element, a T or L shaped match will give you a Burning Tile which explodes a bomb. Most of the bonuses have to be included in a match of the same icon the detonate, and you get to choose which power-ups to use at the start of each level.
The Shifting Columns or Rows have returned, an Intersol Games feature included in all of their M3 games, and this game includes a challenging Burning Candle and Coin feature, where more are added to block cells by multiplying every time you don't remove one by making an adjacent match. I thought this feature was really interesting.
The feature that annoys me the most is that you can't make fast consecutive matches because you have to wait until all the tiles stop falling. They did speed up the scoring process where the computer continues to play through all of the remaining moves.

Completed CE Game approximately 5 hours (including CE Bonus Chapter & all mini-games) Demo only SE version
Speaking of the dead, this game is a perfect example of why the Dark Tales series has run its course, it's like speaking with the dead, they don't have a lot going on and neither does this game! Amax has obviously run out of ideas for a new storyline after 10 years. Yes, I understand that these stories are loosely based upon Edgar Allan Poe's original poems and stories, but these loose interpretations don't translate well as a game. The gameplay is monotonous, the tasks are painstakingly boring, the storyline drags and there are hundreds of uninteresting diary pages and notes to read, after a chapter or two, you just want to join the dead, it's gotta be more interesting because there's certainly nothing here to keep you on the edge of your seat. I've always said that it's difficult to tell the difference between characters from one game to the next because they all look the same, this time, they actually are the same characters!
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes in the Main Chapters and 10 Zoom Zone Hops that are quite frankly boring and unappealing. The scenes lack clarity, color, and creativity. I found the first HOS to be ridiculous on all levels. There's a fire (because there's always a fire in every Amax Interactive game) and the Fire Extinguisher is not only located in an odd place, inside a locked cage but also secured to the cage with 3 more locks! The 3 Keys to unlock the fire extinguisher are bound with 3 separate Chains! (surely the fire has burned out of control by the time I finish this HOP?) Most of the HOP's are either Listed Item Finds or Interactive List Finds, but there are also a few Silhouetted Shape Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Multiples of the Same Object Finds, Matching Pair Finds, Replace Items into the Scene Finds, and 10 Zoom Zone HO's where you are tasked with finding a handful of objects. The only one I found to be remotely interesting was finding 12 Keys and then use the correct key to unlock each of the decorated locks. It was only interesting because the locks and keys were colorful and intertwined with green thorny vines.
There are 29 actual Mini-Games, most of which are back-to-back There are mini-games within Hidden Object Puzzles, and even within complex Inventory Items. Most of the time I would be elated because I love the puzzles, however, there are just too many of my nemesis puzzles, where clicking on one will affect others, I like skill based puzzles, not puzzles that seem to have no rhyme or reason. I found myself wanting to skip puzzles the second I read that "one affects" others direction, and I usually love and anticipate the puzzles in most games! I was also disappointed that only a couple of the games had a Reset button to let you start over. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games I did find interesting during the entire game:
1-Fill your board with more water tokens than your opponent's fire tokens. 2-Arrange beads on each of the rings so they align within the grooves after clicking the start button. 3-Track the movement of the Green Card & select it after the cards shuffle. 4-Use directional arrows to set the Roman Numerals to 12 o'clock. 5-Select directional arrows to turn on all lamps, once lit they can't be unlit. 6-Place shaped puzzle pieces correctly. 7-Spot the difference between a Photo and a Sketched drawing. 8-Use + & - buttons to adjust the size & rotation buttons to align 4 partial images.
The CE Bonus Chapter is more creative than the entire Main Game. It rewinds the clock to take you back to the Courtroom during Dr. Brian's trial. You'll have to examine the evidence and decide a verdict. There are 8 Hidden Object Scenes and 10 Mini-Games and you'll finish finding 7 Morphing Silhouette Shadows and Complete the Rave Feather Collection with the final 7 Feathers remaining.
The Collector's Edition version has 9 Wallpapers, 7 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Screensavers, 4 Music Soundtracks, 10 Movie Video Cutscenes, 14 Re-playable Mini-Games, 14 Re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 12 Achievements to Earn, 26 Collectible Raven Feathers, 26 Morphing Silhouettes, 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

Completed Game 4.5 hours (twice!) (including all mini-games no skips or hints)
The world can sometimes be harsh and unforgiving. We try to organize the chaos, we search for answers to questions life burdens upon us. Our lifelong journey pushes us forward, step by step, day by day. Our adventures introduce us to joy, and sometimes pain. We bear witness to the miracles life has to offer, we find true love, and sometimes our hearts are broken. As our journey continues, our hearts create an unbreakable bond the moment a child enters our lives. We would move mountains for them but soon discover they can move them on their own.
But My Brother Rabbit isn't really about the ups and downs of real life. This is an incredible adventure borne from the creative imagination of a loving brother, to help them both escape the frightening uncertainty of real life. (All I will say further is that you definitely need tissues!)
I actually purchased and completed this game from AM, in September, but I purchased this Collector's Edition today as well. This version has a Hint button available as well as the ability to Skip the Mini-Games. I will say that I felt more of a sense of pride by not having those crutches to tempt me the first go-round
Rethink the way you play HOPA games and you will have no problem playing My Brother Rabbit. You won't get a slip of paper hung next to the problem you are trying to solve, but don't overthink the solutions! Every task has a clue, you have to look for the clues to see them, and by that, I mean that clues can be easily overlooked or even interpreted, and it's easy to overthink the solution, but in reality, it's a fairly easy game to master.
There are no words spoken, characters may have things to say, but the thought bubbles are just that, thoughts in the form of pictures. If an icon with a Lightbulb appears, that requires an inventory item, and inventory items are almost always in multiples, such as 10 spiders, 7 feathers, etc. The icon for those items will appear on the top Right, if the icon box is Gray, that means there aren't any in that scene (check the boxes each time you enter a scene) If the icon is Blue, it means there is at least one in that scene. Sometimes the items are out in the open requiring a single click, sometimes they are partially hidden behind something, sometimes they require using the ole noggin to figure out how to get them...but trust me, those are the ones that are fun, and those items show how incredibly ingenious Artifex Mundi is! For example, you may have to search for clues to show you which symbols need to adjoin to open a vending machine, or which position to place levers to open the correct glass displays.
Once you have collected all of the items shown on an Inventory icon (click the tab at the bottom of the icon to see where the items are used if you forget) you will complete a Mini-Game. These puzzles aren't necessarily difficult, but some of them are more complex than others. They are probably puzzles you have solved before, but some of them are more complex than they are in normal HOPA games. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter to give you an idea:
1~Drag a loop to attach matching colored gears without crossing paths. 2~Swap square tiles to recreate the image. 3~Tap buttons to replicate the pattern of dots you saw earlier. 4~Rotate triangular tiles with pipe sections to create paths for Red, Blue, Green & Orange. 5~Rotate disk sections to align columns of identical symbols, rotating 1 disk may affect others. 6~Rotate groups of 4 spiders to replicate the correct color pattern. 7~Repeate the color sequence of Crystals that light up x3. 8~Click on microbes to reveal and match identical symbols. 9~Drag picture fragments to complete the photo. 10~Swap pipe sections to connect from beginning to end. 11~Push all mushrooms out, pushing one may affect others. 12~Rotate 2 circles to swap positions of colored sections to align with the matching outer colors.
There are 5 Chapters or realms, before moving to the next chapter you will have to complete a Hidden Object Scene where you find and replace missing items that are highlighted on a Diagram. The items are cleverly blended into the scene and I loved every one of them!
This is the most beautifully illustrated Adventure game that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. I can't tell you how many times I was in awe of the cleverness of the interactions, tasks, and puzzles. It's a journey that must be taken to appreciate the ingenious creativity!
