A good story, but a bit vague: nightmares about Chestnut Lodge send a guy to scope out the place. No resolution of what the dreamer got out of it. HOS dim (you can brighten the screen). Some VOS. There is a really creepy kid who talks funny and has strange teeth. Built in strategy guide. Good puzzles. Never did get into the elevator shaft and still had the tool at the end of the game. Time: 4 hrs. 42 minutes.
More for the adventurers, the HOS are spaced out to the point where you hope for one to get things you need, and they are very clear and interactive, with some ingenious little tricks. Some are "put backs", which are really cool. Storyline was great: a witch has cast a spell on a city and stopped the clocks. You have to travel back in time to save the cursed. (Kind of like House of Doors). Great VOS, appropriate music, and some new and interesting puzzles. No overclick penalties. There is a diary, which is after the fact, so not that helpful. Superb graphics. Doing these in reverse order, so hope the first two are just as good, tho reviewed as shorter. My time 6 1/2 hours causal.

Not a long game, but really engrossing. A crew is sent out to find out what happened to the previous expedition members and is confronted by a supernatural being. Great graphics. No VOS. HOS clear and simple. Music is ok but a little edgy. Good storyline, exploring myths and trying to escape. You can scroll the screens, but I didnt care for that. I did get caught up in the escape and was saying: "go, go, go" without realizing it. Good for a daily game splash. My time: casual 31/2 hours.

This is mostly a HOG, and very well done. Excellent graphics, great VOS. HOS are clear and large, but still some are hard to find. The storyline is good: detective investigating a millionaire's murder. A number of good suspects. Hints are only good in the HOS. Otherwise, you are pointed to the task list. Got stuck a couple of times in the few puzzles there were and had to use a walkthru that I found on the web. You have to backtrack quite a bit. There is a map but it only shows the locations of the scenes. Nice music. Good conclusion, but there are inventory items left (?). My time: casual about 5 hours. Enjoyable game.

Great storyline: a woman wakes up from a coma after 3 years and finds she has no memory and is in an asylum. She has to regain her memory but also help other patients. Great characters and VOS. HOS clear, some very well hidden. The map was great to show you where you were and where to go next. The tapes were helpful, too. Puzzles were good, mostly hard. Very realistic even down to the muzak in the elevators. At the end, I actually felt a little anxiety for her escape! I was like, hurry up, hurry up.Not scary or eerie, but definitely absorbingly interesting. 4 hours casual.

And hard ones, too. Skipped most of them, as there were no instructions on most of them. No HOS in this game. Be sure to look carefully all around the areas as the items you need are in very obscure places. Cursor kind of slow and clunky. Story good, humorous. No VOS. A lot of reading. My time: casual 4.5 hours.

Beautiful graphics. Great characters and VOS. The little boy and girl were adorable. HOS interactive and mostly clear, altho a few scenes needed a magnifying glass. Great story, nice music. Puzzles not too hard. My time: casual 6.5 hours.

Found myself smiling a lot and laughing out loud a few times at the little twists in the HO scenes and the interesting puzzles. Great story, wonderful characters and VOS. Most of the HOS were clear, but a few were hazy and hard to see. The cursor was a bit slow and clunky. Otherwise, a really enjoyable game. My time: 6 hours casual.

Rating 4 for this one, as the HOS were really hard to see, even with a magnifying glass. Otherwise, the graphics were good. Excellent story line, and the VOS were equally good. You can play match 3 for the HOS, which I tried, but couldnt get into. The puzzles were somewhat hard, as there was not always instructions for them. Great characters, especially the hotel manager. The eerie music is spot on. My time: 5 hours casual.
