I enjoyed this HOG more than I expected to like it. The graphics are good but not great, and the story is fantastic. It plays like an old Murder, She Wrote or Matlock episode - murders, suspects and a need to find answers fast. Good fun.
Pros: Map takes you around the city and lets you know when something can be done in that location. (Critical cause there's a lot of "back and forth"). Voice overs and cut scenes are well done, even though the graphics have that "heavy breather" look. Items are intuitive and the HOG's are interesting if not challenging.
Minigames: Easy to Med, varied, some a little redundant but not bad.
Cons: The story is great - but as you close in the end - the game degenerates into a "go here, get this, take it there, use this" kind of sequence. It plays like they made the story too short so they just elongated the game play at the end. The "Why" isn't sufficiently wrapped up either - but there is a nice sequel seed for a second try.

I really didn't want to like this game. The graphics are old school and cheesey, the voice overs are awful and the HOS are ludicrously easy. BUT - I would play for a while and get lost on the story and game play over and over again. Eventually, I just had to admit I liked the game - flaws notwithstanding.
Pros: the story is interesting and the add ons (over swamps, dragons, druid forests) keep you guessing as to what's going to happen. Mini-puzzles are Easy to Medium and don't distract from game play. Excellent map and transport system.
Cons: Graphcs, voiceovers - horrible, HOS scenes are silly and easy, toward the end the game degenerates into "Go here, find this, go there, use that."

There's no such thing as a perfect game, but this one is close. Story writing puts this game over the top with clever puzzles, intriguing characters and a good ending.
Pros: The puzzles and puzzle-story that carry throughout the game give a bunch of depth. The portals take you to different locations so you don't feel bored or trapped in one setting and the effects (helmet breathing, beanstalk, etc) really help. They took their time and did this right. Graphics, sound, movement all work.
If you wanted to start someone with casual gaming - THIS is the game to start them with.

Looks beautiful, Wonderful music, - but boring game play and a simplistic system made this game a drag. One of the few games I quit before the end. Maybe good for beginners.
Pro's: Music is Majestic, Graphics are Pretty.
Cons: Interface is slow, games are easy and dull - 8 out of 10 are match 3 but they click instead of roll so they are slow. Junk Pile hidden object scenes with no interaction (random clicking will clear the objects). Story line is dull and walks you through every step. Childish and repetitive.

I have liked all the Grim Tales - this one is the least personal in the series, but the most complex and best looking. A fun journey - low on story but high on adventure.
Pros: Graphics are beautiful, puzzles are varied (not just HOG) and easy to Medium. Locations around the house are also varied and not just one room after another. Mirror world adds color and adventure. Music is good, and voice-overs are effective. Things are intuitive (you don't have to ask what to do with what) and you don't have to drag stuff around forever.
Cons: Each "chapter" goes through the same cycle - get in a room, meet demon, fill tasks to get rid of demon, open clue to next room. Although demons are different in what repels them - its the same pattern and toward the end it made the game seem to long. I was ready for it to end. Story is good but not developed. We see Mary but never really learn why she is haunting the school or what she has to do with mirrors. We learn the kids stories randomly.
Overall, a fun entry - light on story, large on things to do.

I loved last year's nutcracker and was excited to see this year's turn at Scrooge. It was amazing. Clear, beautiful graphics, fun game play and inventive story. God Bless Us, Everyone.
Pros: Graphics, music, voice overs - fantastic story - with an inventive twist so its not just the same old scrooge story. Puzzles easy to med, objects intuitive, map small and manageable.
Cons: Nothing - there is not one thing wrong with this game. It's amazing.

It is a shame the game has a glitch in chapter 5 and I could not finish the rest. It is a old school game, but was an interesting story until progress stops.
Pros: story was good, HOS and minigames were good - Easy to Medium, wll explained.
Cons: Screens where choppy and characters have that dead-eye breathing thing that makes them look weird, Screens pause between changes so its a slower game.
When I went to the forum I saw many people had the same glitch where a game is supposed to give you an object but it doesn't so you can't go further. It is irresponsible this game is still for sale.

I love the Awakening Series, but this one feels like the story has nowhere else to go. the entire saga just involves the Spire and doesn't advance the tale much at all. Still, it's beautiful to look at and fun to play.
Pros: The owl and Dragon are always fun, and the time the dragon changes throughout the game. Graphics and sounds are great. Activities are logical and you clear your deck between each chapter so you aren't dragging stuff around. Nice characters (Ironhoof).
Cons: NO MINIGAME EXPLANATION - There were a lot of mini-puzzles I skipped because there was no explanation as to the how the game was played. Some are easy to figure out; others didn't seem worth the effort. The hint shows you a move - but that's it. Story lacks. It's very much a "go here, do this, do that." Game. The parent flashbacks don't move anything forward and you're pretty much in the same place at the end of the game as the beginning. Grimble is more annoying (might be a pro if you like hating him).
Overall, a solid game with a lackluster motivation.

This is a solid Entry in the Echoes of the Past franchise - not too amazing but not terrible either. A fun game, nice interplay and decent graphics.
Pros: Map, generous hint button, distinct rooms and puzzles, good graphics, Puzzles med to hard. Good length - not too short, but I was ready for it to end when it did. Fun, new challenges then normal HOS. Sly humor.
Cons: More of an adventure than an HOS, back-and-forth between rooms makes it hard to pick this game up after a few day's break, abrupt ending, Story lacks a strong narrative. Each area has its own small story but there is no thread tying them together with the larger story.
Functional and fun, but once you're done - you won't think about it again.

I enjoyed Final Cut a lot so when this came out I picked it up - and wow - this is twice as good. Amazing graphics with the projected images, nice voice overs (not too much talk, but enough), and interesting story.
Pros: Graphics -wow. And the Art direction with the art deco style is fantastic. Fun gameplay. You can switch HOS for Match 3 if you start to burn out on HOS. Great Map to go from place to place. Puzzles Easy to Medium. Good story AND an ending that isn't abrupt. Plus it has some "crazy credits" at the end. Fun all the way.
Cons: (little dumb things - not major cons). The actress/cuts of the sister make her look like an angry lunatic even when she says stuff like "I'm here to help." The soldiers are a bit wooden. Some stuff you have to carry around a long time.
