The trial was the best part, then it seemed more of the same. The trial was good, not a MCF, more like a Haunted Hotel without James. Lots of nice more complicated puzzles, at least in the trial.
I don't recommend this game.

Another subpar one-up-one-down solitaire game. And to make it worse, one of the world's most worshiped deities (Ganesha) is used as a cartoon character to teach us the rules! Ignoring that (which I feel is extremely disrespectful), I saw no way to skip the tutorial. Really, how hard is a one-up-one-down? With all the same "extras" and upgrades?
Usual extras, bombs that take out several cards (look at the "help" feature to see just how many and what others do), jokers, reverses. Your goal is shown at the bottom. For some reason it looks like a negative thing, with an X over it. Earn coins. And, how do we use them? I clicked around and found no store access.
The deck has a tremendous amount of cards! More than a deck would really have, and it makes the hands too easy. It doesn't seem like it's for children any more than any one-up-one-down though, the game play is exactly the same.
The hero warrior is named Isha, which means "woman" in Hindu! The developer is based in Brazil (if the scant info about them online is correct), but still, if I could find out the meaning of "Isha" so could they!
I HATE fake leader boards! This game has one. Right off I'm the "master," with more points by far than Emma, William, Elizabeth, James, or Sophia. Names right out of a book, from a middle class, middle American library, "Popular Baby Names."
Didn't play quickly. A bit out of focus. Boring to the utmost. And, as I suggested in my first paragraph, the inclusion, as a cartoon character, of a world religion's revered icon is just wrong.

I agree with the rest of the reviewers about this series, and how great they always are.
They are fun, fun, fun, and lots of variety. Play a few HOS and then a puzzle of some sort. Collectibles include trash for the recycling bin, and wildlife shown in silhouette. I do those first, so I don't forget!
Earn stars for using no hints. There are regular hints, for one item, or mega-hints that highlights them all! That isn't really necessary unless you don't like the game, and you wouldn't buy it if you didn't like it! You can spend as long as you like, so why hurry?
You can "buy" souvenirs, and earn badges too.
It's fun to just look around the scenes. Real photos of real people, and for the most part, correct proportion. The items to find are often not realistically sized, but once you find all the items the scenes usually look like a postcard!
Unlike other reviewers, my reaction this morning on seeing this game was not excitement, but dismay. I want a Vacation Adventure game ONCE PER YEAR, like a summer vacation! Only one other time were two released in the same year, in 2016. But, since 2013 we've been treated to one special summer-time game per year. As it should be! Summer's over, the kids are back in school (these kids are not home schooled!).
Great game, but should be summer fare only. I recommend it because it's good, it isn't the games fault it's been released at the wrong time (like in 2016)!

I'll admit, I have never been a fan of Witches' Legacy, and don't, as a rule, even demo them. But, I read the friend-turned-ferret is missing in this game, so gave it a chance.
No, still not a fan. I dislike the completely overused story line. I disliked the plain ol' same ol' graphics. I disliked the ease of the puzzles and HOS.
HOS: Finding items that are highlighted in a story usually make for fewer items to find. That's true in the first two HOS here. The first was one page in a book. Just one page.
We get a gimmick, a book where we learn spells. Learning these spells mean playing simple games. The first (a fire spell to get rid of a fire monster) was just to move a lens around and locate five (yes, just five!) symbols. After learning spells, we either use them (the first was a puzzle), or use them in some task where we have written instructions.
PUZZLES: Wow, I find they were so uninspired I really can't remember the first, even referring to my notes which say "4 flames!" So, moving on, after the first spell lesson success we move fire balls so none connect. Then move "spirit rays" so they cross over all the "dark spirits." Oh, how simple that was, four fixed ziggy-zag shaped lines, just rotate them to where they highlight to show we got it right! Then swap a few tiles to make a portrait of the head witch lady.
We found a stained glass ring, which is missing from a stained glass circular piece. But, what a shock, we do NOT rotate the rights to match up a picture, the underlying item just opens up automatically. I would have to say this was going to be a puzzle and they changed their minds!
31 morphs 31 tarot cards
I guess those caught up in Anabel's life will enjoy the game, regardless of the recycled story and ease of play. But, I didn't like it, even without the ridiculous helper (not because if was a helper at all, or because it was specifically a ferret, but because it was a transformed person and acted it!), so I can't recommend the game. I didn't "hate" it though, so it gets two stars!

I really enjoyed the 38 minutes of the demo I played! I didn't play more because I didn't want to "spoil" anything for when I play after purchase.
The story is nothing new when you get right down to it. Mist, kidnapping, masks... But, I like it nonetheless. Great graphics and realistic items. Really nice.
Yes, many inventory items are the same things as always. But, I didn't mind putting fuel in a lantern and lighting it, because that is what you really do when you are camping, and that is the setting of the game, camping! We find an axe, and it is NOT dull! That was new. Yes, there is a broken zipper pull, but hey, it's well done, on a tent flap, and that happens more than one on a purse! So, I'm okay with the same things if they make sense.
HOS: They make sense. The first was a bit junky, but only in the way a mess would have formed in the bed of a pickup after driving on dirt roads to a campground! It was well done. So was the other I encountered, where you have to refer to the diagram to know what to find next. Very interactive. PUZZLES: Not hard, but they didn't seem like time wasters either. Maybe because they were more part of the story than some. Press buttons in the right order. Rotate symbols to show related images. Press buttons, pressing one affects others. Jump a horse over obstacles (here I was so glad the perspective was different from the usual!). COLLECTIBLES: yes, but I forgot about them! I did find a few figures, which say "collection" of 12. There must be more?
If anything was negative, it was the text whenever there was dialog. I can tell there was laughter! I could tell the woman was crying. I could tell the grunting was "unintelligible speech." I even recognized "flirtatious" laughter! I am not sure why this was included, but it was a bit off-putting.
I like the game. I like the story enough to overlook it not being terribly original. I'll remind myself it's a campfire ghost story, being told by the "boys" to scare the "girls." There are only so many ghost stories to tell around a campfire!

I love Zombie Solitaire (and I am not "into" zombies in the least!), by the same developer as this game. The intro to this game tries to tie that story line (contaminated tofu) into this game. That might have worked if this game was as well made as the solitaire ones. This game is far inferior to them, and is a subpar match-3 game as well.
Why?
How about the boards themselves? So small they leave more than 50% of the background showing, and at first, probably a good 75%! Too small, as fitting a phone app.
Yes, what seems to be another phone app on PC. They rarely come off as quality.
The play is simple, fast (good), but no challenge (bad), so no fun (super bad). You need to fill "sugar levels" by making matches. You need to build a resort when you get enough resources by playing match-3.
When you complete a board, you do not move on automatically. EACH and EVERY time you have to either click on "repeat" or "map," which means you have to then choose to play another board! EVERY TIME!
Perhaps the solitaire games thrown in will please Zombie Solitaire fans, but why not just make another quality solitaire game (not Zombie, come up with another clever, adorable, catchy theme) instead of this poor release?

I will preface my review with a mention that I do not thing anyone who likes it, anyone who buys it is "stupid." When I say the puzzles are "stupid," it's because that is what I thought when I played them, my first reaction to most of the game and its tasks.
OK. This is one terrible game!
I am always put off games when I have to be listen to a "Previous on...." like this is a weekly television drama. In this case, it really isn't necessary, but fills time.
As a HOG the demo falls short, as there are so few hidden object scenes compared to puzzles. It's been the norm lately to be 1:2, for puzzles, but here we have more like 1:4. In fact, I noted exactly that ratio of HOS to puzzle. The puzzles came one right after another, literally.
And they are "stupid" puzzles. Either numbingly easy or confusing due to poor instructions. * align holes in a whistle * locate and identify prints with a magnifier, then * match print from the previous puzzle to one on a diagram, dragging to size it to fit * drag "fist" to gather power orbs so we can punch the bad guy out * from that "knock out" puzzle straight into crossing the street without getting hit * scare wolves by watching their ear movement. Use whistle or fire depending on ears being up or down * press buttons in order * control your anger! "Cut" neural threads" so anger orb can't get us! The anger control has three parts, progressively harder. The three are for three paths we "choose" from. No, we don't, we just play three puzzles and go the way the game goes. I got gobs of achievements on these puzzles, because "I'm so smart." No... because they are so simple I could do them within seconds. So can you. We are all "super achievers" in this game.
HOS - absolutely ordinary. The first had no relation to the story or setting whatsoever. What happened to this developer? There's a list with some silhouettes. The storybook-find-objects-highlighted one was probably the easiest HOS I've ever done! Few objects, and HUGE ones! A blind-folded player could have randomly found the items first go!
Need a grappling hook? Of course you do! Use a power cord with light bulbs, but only pull up on it when the bulbs are out so we don't get "burned." Because, don't you know, an unplugged cord still can light bulbs.
Oh, there are collectibles. The game was so bad I didn't really look for them though. Signs (34), which seem to be paw prints, and morphs in the HOS.
At times it seemed we have to do things in order for them to make sense. I was in the pet shop and a paw print diagram hung in my way until I'd done another task elsewhere and came to use it.
And really, a guy with a metal lower jaw, and coati on his shoulder?
Poor game play. "Stupid" puzzles. Inane story. Felt like I was in a beginning game programmers class, trying out some kid's final project. Yes, it is that bad.

I played the survey game in July (by invitation, and I gave my feedback) and marked my notes with a big read star and a plus sign. So, obviously, at that time I loved the game! I'm not sure what happened between then and now. I liked the demo, but it wasn't a fall off my chair kind of game.
The best part are the collectibles. Collectibles are why I buy a CE, and how I base whether a game is worth extra or I can wait for an SE. This game has very good collectibles. Quite hard to find. I appreciate that there is a pull-out tab letting us know how many there are in a seen, and how many are left as we find them. Because, otherwise I would be leaving some unfound as I left scenes. There are not the same number in each scene either, so be careful! * morphs - not sure how many, lots though! More than one per scene * glass figurines - 60
HOS: interactive lists, find the highlighted words in a story, put items back into images. Normal stuff.
PUZZLES: more normal stuff. Twice as many as HOS. * rotate circles to form image - super easy * press roses down, pressing one affects others * move chips to correct slots * make all tiles gold, turning one affects others (give this kind of puzzle a break please, we see them too often) * press gems to match symbols - super easy * move bat so many times to avoid arrows * move tiles to make path - a bit confusing * move bats to empty slots to avoid wolves (hey, bats fly, how hard would it be for them to avoid wolves?) * shoot sunlight at matching bats, a concentration game. Thank you developers for making it so we "shoot" sunlight and are not harming the bats! I love bats. That little bat we help is adorable. The bats in the game are not scary, most look like fuzzy fruit bats! * other stuff with no skip feature, so not counted as "real" puzzles, like put together ripped pages.
The best puzzle/HOS combination is an entire room! Find pieces and put in proper places within the scene. Find inventory items to put in place. A beautiful HOS. A simple quiz about vampires.
We get a bracelet that holds "power" crystals, which are actually vampire tears. We hear about the vampire that used to own the powers, then we can use them. Nothing much to this. Need to move something, use a strength tear. Want to fly, use that one. The dragon, Oberon, consumes the vampire's power to give his "master" those powers, and since we saved him, we are his "master.'
I think we get the tears when we "save" a vampire? From the vampire hunters? See, it's the story that confused me. The first vampire we meet needs help and we give it to him, even though he's the one who kidnapped our newly-dead-vampirized fiance. Then the family we meet... they seem to have been hunting vampires to study them, and the vampires died? I thought they didn't die? Anyway, we seem to free their vampire "souls" or something. Like I said, just for me, the story was not clear.
One thing I've noticed in games lately, and could do without, is showing a silhouette of what piece we need to use in scenes. Like, an outline of a rose token we will find on the carriage. We can see the shape, we don't need glowing silhouettes when our cursors hover over the area too!
I like this series, but this isn't my favorite of its games. A nice solid CE worthy game though.

It plays well, the tiles fall smoothing and quickly. You can make match after match and the game keeps up with you.
Good things.
Chose between Easy, Medium, or Hard modes. The differences are how long it takes for hints and skips to charge, and how long for the timer, if any. On hard the timer does run out fairly quickly, but that is the only way the game can be considered challenging.
Otherwise it's a basic Match-3. The problem is the tiles are not quite clear, they are a big foggy and fuzzy. If they had been crisp and clear I would have rated 4 stars.
This series is actually one of the better playing Match-3 available. For some reason, I found it utterly boring after the first two boards.
Worth a try if you like Match-3 games, in case the less than crisp graphics don't bother you. I won't be buying, and if I won't buy, I won't recommend. There are lots of others with crisp graphics along with the fast game play. I don't need to settle.

Don't tell us we'll enter an "entrancing world" and explore locations connected with "Howard's" life, when 1- THERE IS NO STORY! 2- THERE IS NO HOWARD! Now, maybe I'm wrong to assume they mean THE H. P. Lovecraft, author, when they say Howard. Arkham is, after all, the fictional town invented by H. P. But, out in Internet-land Howard is the star of third rate animated movies!
This game is 99% the same as the Detective Solitaire games (one released here last week), as well as most others by this developer. The other 1% consists of only the title of the game, the card images, the titles of the chapters (the "locations" in Howard's life), and the chapter background images (some of them). That sounds like more than 1%, but really, the game is THE SAME!
One-up-one-down solitaire. Cards with a rose gain you extra coins to buy upgrades like wild cards and mulligans. Your aim is to use all the gold cards, not to clear the board. You can progress to the next level without getting all the gold cards. Why play?
We've got Mystery Solitaire, and we've got Detective Solitaire. No need for both. No need for either. Why does the developer keep spitting these out? Surely players have figured out they're the same game by now. Surely?
If you love H. P. Lovecraft (my computer is named Lovecraft... he's an HP), there are games available here.
