This is the fifth game I have purchased in the Haunted Legends series, but it just doesn't compare too favorably with some of the others. The quality of these games seems to vary. The art work is excellent, as usual, and the music is appropriate, but the storyline is all too familiar. I bought the CE version because it was on sale for Mother's Day, but I should have stayed with the SE. The language in the main game had a few silly errors, but someone with a lesser command of English must have written the script for the bonus game; it was really ridiculous in places. In addition, the bonus game didn't wrap up the storyline and it ended quite abruptly. Really unsatisfactory for a Big Fish effort. I would suggest skipping the CE and saving a little more money.

Reading the negative reviews, I was a little hesitant to try this game. Admittedly, the portraits of William and wife are cartoonish, but the rest of the artwork is exceptionally good. Someone complained about having to find all the coins, and they found this too difficult, but you can return to any of the rooms to look for coins and if you can't find them the hint button will show you where they are. The puzzles are not too difficult, and the hidden object scenes are challenging but doable. Over all, this is one of the better games I have played lately. The only thing I didn't care for is the music, which consists mostly of a woman crooning something sad, incessantly. I suppose it fits the story, but I didn't like it. And this week this game is on sale for $2.99, so it's a win-win. Try it for yourself.

This is not my first time management game (admitting that I am not at my best in these games), but I found it rather difficult to play. Many people have mentioned the problems with repetitive clicking and I agree that it is arduous. Some of the later games from the same developer let you knock out the thieves with seven clicks; this game takes twenty! I know, because I counted them. Deciding which roads to keep and which to destroy is part of the fun. Luckily, you can repeat levels once you figure out the best way to approach them. The storyline is rather familiar (who hasn't heard of the Titanic disaster?), but it is not presented in an orderly fashion. It would make more sense to have the timeline proceed more naturally, but it jumps all over the place. I experienced several crashes where the screen froze just as I was about to finish a level. Really irritating! Also, at the end of the last section, the screen inside the "frame" went black and there was no acknowledgement that the game was done. Play the game, but know that it is not a perfect one.

This review is based on the trial. This is a good game for beginners because it is not frantic. Yes, some scenes are very slow: eg, the singing statue. The song was pleasant, but the subtitles took a long time to catch up to the melody. As for the argument over the terms "rowlock" versus "oarlock", it is just a matter of which side of the Atlantic is pertinent to you. Rowlock is the UK term for the American oarlock. Not something to nitpick. This game is not one of the better Midnight Mysteries, but it is on a par with Witches of Abraham, which I purchased even though it was just average. Not everyone is a whiz at these games, and it should at least be tried.
This is based on the trial. I like the clear, colorful images in this game. The hidden objects were large enough to find easily, even for my older eyes. Match games are fun and easy. This is an enjoyable change from the dark, gruesome games frequently offered. I found the hints helpful, but they are not always necessary, unless the player is inexperienced. This is a game that should be tried.

I just finished the trial of this game, and I found it to be worth playing. Those who don't like it because it features old cell phones, floppy disks and other "outdated" things seem to forget (or not to know) that many of these games have anomalies such as electrocardiogam machines in the 19th century or flying dragons or steampunk (need I say more?) Plus, what's with all the problems in Prague? The voice of the heroine is natural and I find it easy to listen to. I can read, so the text isn't interruptive. The puzzles are simple and the ho scenes are easy on the eyes. All in all, I think this is an excellent game for the beginning player, which we all were at some point. Try it; you might like it.

I really like this type of game, but not this particular one. I couldn't even make it past about ten minutes of the trial because everything kept bouncing! Some other games do this also; maybe it is supposed to make the play more difficult, but it just irritates me and makes me a little nauseated. I will pass up on this one.
Sea of Lies: Nemesis, Collector's Edition, is a great game, in my opinion. The graphics are wonderful, not too dark and very clear. Hidden object scenes are not obvious, but quite do-able. The player is, once again, a detective who must solve a murder (which becomes several murders during the course of the game). Characters' lips move when they are speaking, making the game a little more realistic. Voices are excellent. I can't comment on the music, because I turn it down, but it was not intrusive. If you don't care to play every HO scene, you can play a match three game instead. Best of all, for me, the storyline actually makes sense, and I didn't need the hint button just to figure out what should follow in every scene! This game never crashed once, for which I was grateful because of some problems I have had with another game lately. When you finish the game and bonus game, you can go back and pick up souvenirs and any treasure chests you might have missed during play. And once again, I have to tell you to watch the credits at the end, because this developer always has amusing lines there. I urge you to try this one - it's a keeper!
I just finished the collector's version, and I must say that I enjoyed it. I do have a number of games from this developer, and they always seem to deliver a good product. I never play in the most difficult mode, so I can't say anything about that. The music was okay (I don't notice it). The scenes in this game are all bright and colorful, which I appreciate, because I was able to clearly see even the small items. No gross stuff in this game. When finished with the bonus game, I was able to go back and pick up the collectibles which I missed on the first round, and also all the souvenirs. There are morphing objects, but I forgot to watch for most of them, so I'll have to play again! I recommend this game; try it and see for yourself.

I purchased this game today because of the Memorial Day sale. In fairness, I had already tried it and I felt it was worth the collector's price...but now, after playing for a couple of hours, I find it tedious. All the backtracking that must be done for one item at a time is compelling...compelling me to stop for a while! Also, the cut scenes seem to take longer than other, similar games, and I don't care for the extra seconds it takes. I will go back and finish later, but I need a break from it. Usually, I don't notice the music in games, but this one has okay, if repetitive, music. The items in the hidden object scenes are a little too small for me, and I have a large monitor. Most of the puzzles are not too difficult and some are downright simple. The game is a good one, but I'm an impatient person, I suppose. Try it for yourself.
