To begin with, the title of the game is uninspiring. Had I not been offered a chance to beta test a portion of the game, I would never have considered it based on the title. Then the first 15 minutes are spent in a burning house messing around rather than fleeing. Stupid. After that, the game play got me interested. When the game was available, I bought it. Game play is confusing and fractured, not at all logical and impossible to follow without using the guide as a crutch with practically every step. Many of the puzzles are worth playing, but a couple are boring. The problem comes late in the game, indicating that the programmers were rushing and not testing anything. Cutting the harp string took me over 50 tries until I hit the single pixel which was activated. Again with the guinea pig, I had to place it over and over to get it to do anything. Frustrating. Finally in the single scene epilog, the puzzle froze and required me to skip it. Odd that such a convoluted game would have a 10 second epilog. This game was rushed to market too quickly and programming errors exist in too many places. Interesting play saves this game from a 1 rating.

I played 24 minutes and hit a level I did not finish in time. It said I had to replay it. I deleted it. Nothing here that I would care to play or to recommend. I always choose untimed or I play at a leisurely pace and ignore the artificial “stars” rating on how quickly I finished. I prefer to do things the right way, not the fast way. This is a better game for those who slap-dash their way through life with no thought for quality of workmanship.

This game starts out rather well for about 10 levels and then suddenly one finds themselves unable to complete a level or even come close because one has no lumber and no food. You have to wait and wait for resources. Any way you try to play the level you will fail. This is another in a line of failures. The game seems to have been rushed out without adequate testing which resulted in impossible times. Perhaps the coders should have actually played it once themselves. Because the game is impossible to finish, I must give it a do not buy recommendation.

I was slightly surprised when I played the first couple of levels during a free trial, because the strange title made this game sound like something I would not like. However, I quickly changed my mind, bought it, and finished it the same day. That just is rare for me. I could not stop playing the game or walk away from it. It was addictive. It is a TM game but I played, as I always try to do, in untimed mode. The player establishes a “campgrounds” for an expedition. That “campgrounds” includes money generating domiciles of varying types, and then has specific tasks in each level. Each level is a new “campground”. The tasks involve acquiring money to build facilities which in turn perform tasks related to the main goal of that “campground”. It sounds simple enough and it really is. There are no catastrophes or villains to randomly mess up your initial plan of attack, as so many games have today, so this is a strategy game too. Despite the odd sounding name, I think this is a game which everyone should at least try.

The game is quite long with what seems to be almost endless times when you think you have accomplished a goal, only to be foiled and have another goal given to you. This makes the game play tiring. The HOGs vary from quite nice to blue and dark with tiny, invisible, objects. The mini-puzzles are mainly boring with only a couple worth even thinking about playing; most just were not worth the effort. The music was variable, some pleasant and some annoying. In a long game, the music can be repetitious. All in all, I think I’m glad I played it, but I am not positive. A middling game at best. I had to make extensive use of the hints in order to figure out some of the really strange parts of the game. The flow of the game was great at times and very fractured at other times.

I found Island Tribe 5 to be very similar to 1 through 4 with just enough different to be interesting. This is a sequel in a series which never seems to get old to me. I love when another comes out. I have great fun playing this game in relaxed mode and would buy another if it were available. This is the kind of relaxing game which I find the most enjoyment in playing. Highly recommended.

If you liked the first two Books, you will find this much the same. A few things change in the play, but the story continues to unfold. I think this is a great game and I hope there will be more adventure games to follow after this theme ended. The play is not completely linear, but in most instances you cannot wander off course too far because of the requirements of strength or oratory. I did find one level where I went the wrong path and exhausted all of my resources and had to restart the level. The second try I went a different direction and renewed my resources. I play in relaxed mode and levels typically take around 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete, so allow plenty of time for playing. I can say that I found the secrets to be far better hidden than in previous games. I missed 1 or 2 secrets in every level but the first two. I may have to replay them.

This game is long and seems even longer by the fact that the game play cannot be guessed or determined by actions already taken. The only way to play it is by constant reference to the strategy guide. I like games where I can discern the next required move from what has already happened. In this game, that will not happen. The game play is so fractured that only by using the strategy guide can one see that collecting something now will be useful in the future. Additionally, some of the collected items have to be acted upon in really bizarre ways which could not be determined until after the fact. It took me a week to struggle through it, reading the strategy guide before taking every action and then wondering why. I was bored most of the time and I found the lack of continuity to be absolutely annoying. The mini-games are different; many are OK but most are just long and boring. Skip works wonders on about 75% of them. I finished the game, but I admit that I played only half of the Bonus chapter before deleting. Not interesting at all.

This is the third and probably last of a series of loser games. It plays like the rest, levels with goals and lots of enemies and no possibility of any strategy. I played about half way through and then quit and deleted the game. Not any fun to be had on most levels; this was mainly work. I kept thinking it couldn’t be worse than the first two New Yankee games, but it made them look good by comparison. This game had no positives and plenty of negatives. Clicking on an enemy only works if you hit the right spot; several clicks will likely be needed to do any one thing. Annoying. This might be good for a hyperactive 12 year old, but not for an adult. Wasted money.

This game plays most like the original Royal Defense game. It takes some getting used to, and lots of pauses and upgrades and use of gems to purchase needed upgrades, but with the right strategy a level can be won. There are several types of towers each with several upgrades possible. Every level has several waves of enemies and losing because you have the wrong towers initially is likely. However, since the waves never change, you can change your strategy and winning is possible.
