Very clever HOS’, easy puzzles, and pretty difficult ones, great music underlining the feel of the magnitude of great art work scenes in this movie mystery of a game, where our heroin actress is led and misled in real and the unreal real film world in pursuit of her man, and “who done it” . . why all these mishaps of the old movie which somebody has been and is jeapardizing time and again ? To help her(you) on your quest, you’ve got a map and recurring slide shows to keep you on track. If all else fails, hint works fine. A very good 5 chaptor long game which I warmly recommend.

- Don’t miss this one ! Nothing new about the story ; the world has been destroyed, burned, and only you can save it. It’s a very long game and you travel through gates to lost times and lands. Beautiful varied artwork / more or less historical scenes; great sound track and music fitting places and happenings. Challenging HOS’ of different types, great emaginative puzzles; my only complaint: the voice overs seems to me to be the weakest bit of the game. Anyway, you have a note book and a very useful map to guide you on your way - which take you back and forth through the entire game, which I like - use the map or do it by memory: you can always go back to the House of 1000 Doors where it all started - and enjoy the scenes again and again, just as you can go to the scene where it all ends when you have . . . enjoy !

This game has it all: A crime case about “Who killed Sofie” with evidence board which shouldn’t be neglected if the player wants to get the full enjoyment of the game. Victims and possible offenders are presented on the evidence board. The player is carted round by means of horse cart to the various scenes to find clues. A map shows you the way. Obviously you are constantly “delayed” by having to sort out heaps of stuff and open locked doors: HOS’ with lots of minigames, and puzzles which are fun and not too difficult.
Pleasant French inspired music soothes your ear along the way. No “gonghoo” drama.
Lovely art work mostly depicting high status environments apart from the odd back yard and back stage rooms.
A good game for a few relaxing hours. (SE version )
I recommend this game!

Artifix Mundi has overreached themselves with this unususal game. It’s brillant !
A tale, like a play on theatre, which makes sence without giving you a headache to try to follow it, and it’s actually exiting too ! All the (some unusual) HOS’ compliment the game, as well as the relatively challenging and fun puzzles. The scene is a mental hospital, where we meet both staff and patients, and our detective has to figure out who - done it” Wont’ say what.
To help us, we have a map, a journal, and a well functioning hint if one gets lost on the way. The people are cartoonish and they move about talking, playing each their roles. The story has 7 acts and in each act you have to find clues which get sorted via cinematics. It’s like a cartoon film with HOS’ and puzzles to be solved before you can move on. Voice-over fits characters, haunting sounds and music back up the sinister storyline. Fine art work accents the atmosphere of the story. I won’t say any more - try it, don’t think you’ll regret it ! I decidedly recommend this game. ( but it's not really suited for small children I should perhaps add ).
I recommend this game!

A Grim Tale, about vengeance. CE version. This game has got it all: murder, magic, a court with high judge, an aunt with spiritual gift, and high status folk battling about inheritance. And teddybears and toys. Castles with rich halls, gardens and vault with graves. To help one find one’s way in the most elaborate gilded minutely detailed beautiful artwork of the scenes, one has well functioning hint, a map, a diary, morphing bits to find, collectables with info about the folk in the families concerned; an evidence board and scinematic black n’ white blasts of the auntie’s flashes of memory from past times. HOS’ ok, and include having to knit bits together; Puzzles a bit easy, but some actually rather good. Storyline ok, but I lost track of the story in all the clutter of missing tools, keys, handles, bits n’ pieces more or mostly less relevant for the tale itself. Then again, it’s easy to read up on the happenings in the diary. Good sound track underlining the events. So, I can’t really write anything bad about this game, only, it didn’t grab me - never got interesting and exiting ??? But maybe one becomes a bit blasee with having done too games cut over the same pattern - I don’t know . . maybe I’d have to do it a second time to make it all fall into place ? Maybe you’ll love it !
I recommend this game!

One cannot fault this Hidden Expedition game; it comes through with all the sound game ingrediences one can hope for and is free of trying to aim at any gamer between the ages of 4 and 90 years old. That’s a relief. Lovely artwork and GOOD story which takes one round the globe; no magic, just this chase between the goodies and baddies to collect pieces of one of the ancient world’s relics. Hos’s are exceptionally varied and fun. The game offers collectables, yet not too many. Good sound track and voice overs adding to the suspence. New variations of puzzles and mini games, most a bit on the easy side, on the other hand one never gets irritated with something which is plain impossible to get through; and they make sence, don’t just keep one trying until then suddenly resolve when you’ve exhausted yourself trying. Hint must’ve worked fine, since I can’t remember any frustrations. Also the game has a follow up book with evidence one digs up along the way, so one’s is kept abreast with the story development - which means that one never looses track of the story; it doesn’t sort of disappear in irrelevant stuff in say “nurseries” and the like. This Eipix game is close to a “grown up” crime story, but of course the chase gets to “a happy” end, at the nick of time. As a PS: don’t miss the credits . . which offers a delightful fun factor; also the CE version hands one a lot of other extras well worth digging into.
I recommend this game!

Old and scatter brained, it’s not a miracle if I find my best screwdriver in the fridge, but a game is in danger of becoming laborious if one has to find too many items in “wrong places” - as finding things for the sake of finding things also tends to get boring however smart a game otherwise is knitted together as this one is - and when HINT repeatedly directs you to a place where you can’t find anything to do . . because you earlier missed finding some of the stuff you need to get that far . . it could take a bit of the FUN out of the game if one doesn’t keep on one’s toes !
Having said that, Surface: Reel Life is a game based on a great idea - the film screen busts open and become real ! kind of - and one gets trapped in this film’s “reality” - where everything is possible. The artwork of this game has charactor as the charactors in the story are depicted to inspire one’s own inner vision of the old hollywwod actors and film producers. So in spite of my first complaints, this game will probably grow on you, as it did on me. Small nuggets of humor pops up round every corner: “Reel Life, Deja View” :-) - The game has fun minigames, to be solved in a jungle, at a pier, in a city, a film studio etc. Evocative sound track busting out loud when getting to important happenings. At every corner we’re in danger, but lucklily we manage to return safely to the real world in the end.
A game worth spending a few hours time on.
I recommend this game!

A movie star is found dead, drowned and you, the detective, have to figure out wether it’s by accident or she’s murdered. A story is uncovered about the folk around the star and all evidence is lined up on your evidence board - as well as clues about those involved.
Cunning not too difficult minigames and HOS’s which vary in new guises, makes it exiting to be the detective - while you search through scenes which take you to the sea, a lighthouse, the star’s magnificent home in the mountains. Great very detailed artwork depicting all the house’s rooms you enter, some via escalater - or map - all supported by fitting soundtrack, and with care find collectable stars and morphing objects, meanwhile you at strategic points of the case return to add to your evidence board, to solve the case in the end.
A lot of extras available once you’ve have finished main story and bonus game, of which I urge you: don’t miss the cinematic about the creators’ : how they did it - a little fun film about life in a game “laboratory”. Wish more of the producres would add that to complete one’s game experience.
I recommend this game!

Paranormal State, Poison Spring deals with happenings during the US Civil War, in a beautiful mountainous area littered with war remains. From a visitor’s campsite in the forest a team of young paranormal investigators search for clues to why some dark force roam and seem to have possessed folk visiting the otherwise famous site.
The splendid artwork is sustained throughout the game; the soundtrack supports the eerie atmosphere and to keep up with the ongoing story and investigation with cinematic slots informing you of what’s next. We have a journal which it is important to relate to for every step, we have the kind of apparatus paranormal investigators use to find tracks and evidence of the dark force, which invades one of the members in the group during their work.
HOSs are beautifully done too, intriguing hide n’ seek. The puzzles are not too difficult , but lots of fun and of a repetitive type which makes sence and supports the storyline chapter for chapter. One never looses track of the exiting and haunting story - which has a happy ending with the team’s successful conclusion of the task they were called in to solve. Thank you Legacy & BFG for this brillant game ( wish a CE version had been available ).
I recommend this game!
