This is not as easy as the very colorful and simplistic scenes would have you believe. Looks can be very deceiving. Items are at times very difficult to find and I am having to be in a scene longer than I would like. Because there is no magnifier, I am resorting to using my own.
There are pets to find and the number is indicated in the lower left where there is also a picture of an item to find. Be careful not to click on the animal that is on the hint in the lower right. Had to catch myself a couple of times.
I have the first game in this series and enjoyed it. In ways, I am finding this one to be more of a challenge in finding items. It is one thing to be challenged and another to be tortured. I think some of the items are just too difficult to find, especially without a magnifier. Items are also behind other items, so be on the lookout.
This CE includes 8 Bonus Levels....8 Bonus Puzzles....12 More Puzzles....18 Music Tracks....Pet Shop where you use your points that you earn to buy pets....and 12 Wallpapers.
I wouldn't pay full price for this, but will wait for a decent sale. It is tempting, however.
The scenes in this are much nicer than the previous game, The Pacific Northwest. Scenes take a long time to load. Music is so repetitious and annoying, I had to mute it. It is like listening to a broken record....over and over again with no variety. Hope they will improve on this for the next game.
There is so much to do and so much variety in these games. You find a key and a star in each scene. The key is an informative fact and the star unlocks unlimited mode of play for that scene. I also noticed a morph in each scene for an item to pick up.
There are 5 different forms of play for a scene, so you will be playing that scene 5 times and will collect a total of 5 keys and 5 stars, which are indicated as you complete a scene. You can also replay the scene any time you want in any format...in case you missed a star or key or just want to play again.
After you complete 3 scenes, sometimes there are just 2 scenes, there is a puzzle to play that can be skipped. There are also hints available for them.
Besides having the magnifier in the lower right, you can also zoom in and out using the scroll on your mouse. That is a real plus.
You have 4 choices of difficulty to select after you indicate your profile name. If you choose Custom, just click on "Edit" and you can choose the timer selection. When you want to begin the game, click "Campaign" and you're good to go.
I am really enjoying this game and look forward to more of them. What a nice way way to relax~
There is no profile for your name. If you begin this game again and have attained any collectibles, that's all folks. Those attained collectibles show in the Collectibles section under Extras and also if you click on MENU when your play is in progress. You will NOT be able to collect them again.
So what's the point of buying a CE when you can't replay it fully with the collectibles? What a burn.
How anyone thinks that staring endlessly at a scene to find morphing objects an enjoyment is beyond me. I have the first 2 games and managed to find all the morphing objects. This one is the worst. I don't care to practically be hypnotized staring at a scene forever. And I mean forever. How is that supposed to be an enjoyment? It isn't. It is an utter waste of time and a CHORE.
In order to complete your photo album you must find all the morphing objects, at least I had to in the first 2 games. There definitely needs to be a morphing hint incorporated or locations of these morphs in a SG specifically for them.
Another issue is being able to earn gold stars. Forget it. Unless you find the morphs and collectible card in a scene first and then go back to replay it to find all the items, it is hopeless to earn the gold star. Either way, I didn't get any gold stars in either game except for a few puzzles. If you do go back to replay the scene, you do not have to re find the morphs if you have already found them. Puzzles can be skipped.
The scenes are pleasant and I like the nature theme. There is so much greenery, however, that I found it a visual strain, not only for my eyes, but on the nerves as well. Items are too well blended at times, If there hadn't been a magnifier, I would not have been able to play this at all.
One thing is for sure, it is going to be a LONG game and not all due to a pleasure factor.
Would be nice if DO games work, but none of the newer ones will even launch after downloading...the past 4. I did enjoy their new format of games with HOS and mini games and do have a few of the older ones. It is a downright disappointment that there are so many problems with their games.
From time to time I download this game to see if there is a fix, but so far, that is hopeless. DO is going from bad to worse and it is inexcusable.
It would be great if I could play the last 3 recent DO games, but I can't. The past 3 DO games, Magic City Detective Rage Under the Moon CE, The Intersection of Worlds Magic Star CE, Criminal Archives Alphabet Murders CE won't even launch after downloading. Am I the only one having these problems? Is BF paying any attention at all? How much further down can you go BF? Something is terribly wrong here and no one seems to care to do anything about it.

Instead of having 20 scenes as in the Amazing New York game, this one only has 15. Not impressive. I also thought the scenes were better in the NY version.
Gameplay is the same as NY. 3 difficulty levels of play, magnifier in the lower right...and plenty of hints if you need them and have chosen the no time limit mode of difficulty.
There were times I could not pick up an item and when this happened, I just focused on finding other items on the list and when I was able to pick up the item, I went back to pick up the one that would not respond. That worked for me. Otherwise, you just exit to the map and choose the scene again and see if that will work.
There are 4 modes of play as in the NY game. (1) ABC, word items....(2) Silhouette...(3) Scrambled word items....(4) Mirrored, where the scene is in reverse with the items in reverse spelling. I really liked the mirrored scenes. You can play any mode any time you like.
The game is fun, but was too short. It is relaxing, not taxing and I am sure I will play it again. I hope the next game will have 20 scenes instead of just 15.
For the most part, I am enjoying the game. There are 18 categories that have 4 scenes to complete, 2 of those 4 scenes are puzzles. There are 8 more categories in the Bonus. In order to proceed to the next level you must complete the 4 scenes. I am shocked that there is no skip for the puzzles and have found that the only way you can get through them without having to complete them yourself is by using the hint in the upper right hand corner. The hint is the "?" mark and takes about 15 seconds to fill and will put the pieces into place a move at a time. Takes a bit of time and patience, but it will able you to advance. I don't mind the puzzles in this game, but know there are those who do not want to do them.
Aside from the 8 bonus categories and some "junk" wallpapers and music that is so repetitive in the game I had to mute it, there isn't anything else to offer. It's no frills, but I enjoyed the demo enough to purchase the CE for the 8 extra categories. At a sale price, I think it is worth it.
