This is one of those 'woulda shoulda' games, it's the creepiest game I've played in awhile, couple of good scares along the way.....music and sound effects suit and add to the atmosphere of the game.
Boy gets kidnapped from an orphanage and you, as the detective, have to find him. Love the story setting of Venice of old. Now for the 'woulda shoulda' part..... No w/screen for me even though it's ticked in the settings. 2 modes of play. No lock /unlock for inventory bar, seems to have a mind of its own. Loved the varied HOS [Hidden Object Scenes] some the usual, some find 12 of a particular item, some find 12 morphing objects. I really disliked the sound that was made when you found an object, sort of a screech...loathed how every time you completed a goal the 'goal list' jumped in your face to cross of each completed goal
I played on 'Hard' mode and was still told I needed to 'cut the wire' or 'wash the window' etc when I clicked on a certain object....annoying...
The game overall is scary and creepy which I love so I'm going to continue with a buy
The usuals 'Options'. I unchecked 'Screen Correction' and got Widescreen. Add another Profile after initial name has been entered by clicking 'Welcome'
No Voiceovers, Cartoony type cut scenes, map inly shows layout of the ship
'Camera Rolling' option can be turned off but it does add to the sensation that you're on a ship, but made me dizzy after awhile
Storyline : Young girl misses ship to America and gets passage on a cargo ship, but soon the crew disappear and it's up to her to find out what the weird noise is and find the crew
HOS {Hidden Object Scenes} were unusual for today's games were you have to really look and not just hit the hint button too quickly, kudos Developers Puzzles were unique and a lot of fun as was the gameplay
Collectibles : 33 Pearls, try and get them all first time around as you'll have to backtrack otherwise
Puzzles and HOS can be replayed after the game is finished, if you happened to skip that frustrating puzzle first time around, love this addition
No cute pets or princesses just a good game, like they use to make a few years ago where you have to use more than one brain cell. I had a lot of fun; game was about 5 hours for me, but I hate to skip anything
This game is imaginative and obviously a lot of thought and work has gone into it. Opened it widescreen on my laptop...always a good beginning...
IHOG {interactive Hidden Object Game} Achievements, Wallpapers etc can be seen before you start the game...another plus Collectibles, there are 3..puzzle parts, Owls and Scrolls...Scrolls tell the story as you progress through the game...Owls...keep your eyes open for these critters as they are pretty sneaky.
3 modes of play...you can change 'Difficulty' settings during the game...another plus
Loved the mini mini-games inside the HOS. A variety of HOS...lists, silhouettes etc
I had no technical difficulties, game ran smoothly
Nothing really new about the story, you have to rescue the girl and get rid of the Dark Lord who has help from a 'Smoggle' and our little Dwarf friend
What makes this game stand out is the innovative puzzles, beautiful clear graphics and different HOS. The Bonus game was about 3 hours {I'm quite a slow player I love to look at everything and enjoy each scene.}
Light Adventure game...no HOS (Hidden Object Scenes) which opened up in widescreen on my laptop Go to settings to choose just about everything you could ask for...Gameplay, which there are 3 choices, I chose 'Adventure' so no sparkles. You can change the difficulty levels during the game, as well as turning music and audio up or down separately {which I loved} There is also an option for HD which when clicked enhanced the game, great feature
There is a Journal, which contains the story as you progress, tasks...which when you click on them you see extra info, great little extra feature if you need it. There is no map {you don't really need one}
There are 'Achievements' and 'Collectibles' which can also be viewed in your journal as you progress.
There are 8 chapters, items you collect can sometimes be joined to complete a task. Items collected are used in each chapter, so you start fresh with each chapter, another thing I liked, dislike having items in my inventory for any length of time
Puzzels were a little different to what I've play before and really enjoyed them, you can view how many you solved or skipped in your journal as you progress...great feature
Storyline: You are sent undercover to investigate the disappearance of a monk and to investigate a 'weeping angel' and find much more than you expected
This game has Religious themes
Loved everything about this game, reminds me of the once great Adventure games, which we see so little of these days. Nothing too difficult, so if you're new to Adventure games this is a good one to begin with
REVIEW BASED ON COMPLETED SE This is more of an Adventure game than IHOG, although the HOS are well done, variety of 'lists' 'putting items back' etc. I quite liked the puzzles, some harder than others. Graphics, for me, were clear, not as crisp as they could have been. I had no Tech. difficulties. Gameplay was about 8 hours, but I'm a slow player.
2 modes of play, I played on the hardest which wasn't particularly difficult, just a little extra clicking around to make sure nothing was missed
Hint and Skip button takes about 2 mins to refill There is a jump map, which comes in handy as there is a bit of running around.
Good game if you're new to Adventure games
Storyline is young girl opening portals of evil in search of her Grandfather while searching for the special rune to forever seal each portal, I quite enjoyed visiting each different world, as each was quite different
One thing I was very disappointed in was the ending, just cut off when she placed the last rune to seal the last portal, don't get to find out if she found her Grandfather, or who really was to blame for stealing the runes in the first place, no proof ,only supposition if you believed what you were told by the hunchback, I guess I'd have to buy the CE to find out for sure
I recommend this game!

Namariel Legends: Iron Lord
Escape prison, defeat an army of mechanical soldiers and destroy the Iron Lord’s dark power!
Opened in widescreen [no stretching] 2 choices of play - Regular or Expert Voiceovers were well done Choice of cursor [custom cursor worked well] There are 4 tabs with symbols on them...Achievements, [which you can see before you start to play] Play, Options and Exit Only 1 profile at a time, so hubby can't play with you [ha!] I had no Tech. difficulties with the SE version NO Sparkles..Yeah Puzzles were different to the norm. some a little hard for me, but skip button filled quickly as did the hint button which led you in the right direction without showing you exactly what you had to do [which I hate with a passion] Seemed like quite a long game, but I'm a slow player and hate to use the Skip button on puzzles. Notebook on one side, as well as your 'little helper' other side is Hint and a device for reading minds [which comes into effect a little into the game] Clear graphics... Only complaint was the loading process but this wasn't enough to put me off the game
Storyline : Castle is invaded by The Iron Lord and his Robots, you, with the help of 'Davincino' and other likeable characters, have to defeat the Iron Lord before he takes over completely. Imaginative and interesting game which kept me playing till late into the night.
Over and over the same nightmare is following you: your sister Anna is trapped in a strange existence, begging you to help her escape. But what if these are not just random nightmares?
This game is a unique as far as puzzles go, a lot of I haven't come across before, and I enjoyed them very much....some took me quite a while to solve
The game opened in widescreen...a definite plus, hate having to change things
There are 3 modes of play : Easy - Expert - Pro...Expert players will love this game as there is no hand holding at all....no sparkles, no hints and no skips
I played the Easy mode where hints charged in about 15 seconds and not much longer for skips
I quite like the HOS as well....lists, silhouettes and find one thing to open or find another object but done differently than the norm
There are no voice overs, which I didn't mind for a change, not an overly lot of dialogue to read either
Graphics were good without being spectacular. Story and music were a bit bland but that didn't bother me because the puzzles were so good
Very good HOPA [Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure]. I'm quite stubborn when it comes to puzzles and don't skip unless I've strained the 'little grey cells' but I had to skip a couple.
Story of a group of people going to an island to investigate why everyone has turned into bloodthirsty zombies
Game opened in widescreen for me, a big plus for me, clear defined graphics. Space for 5 new profiles, just click player 1's profile name to bring up space for more. No voiceovers, written text, when you talk to someone a box comes up with the text and you have to click on your reply to continue You get a journal, jumpable map, hints take about a minute to refill, puzzle skip buttons only take about 30 seconds or less.
On the left is an Statue or Artifact that has a place to put runes, when you place a rune you get a 'Revelation'. The first rune I placed gave me back a symbol that is used to open a secret place
Couple of good scares that made me jump in the time I played. Hidden Objects are sometimes misnamed e.g. hammer turned out to be a mallet, casket was a small box, ladder rung was the whole ladder, there wasn't any click penalty. From gameplay it looks like the Hidden Object Scenes will be revisited
The main reason I'm not buying this game is this : When I enter a new area I like to look around before I begin to play, after about 30 seconds or less a glint or spark appeared showing me an item I needed to click on, if I wanted to know what to do I would click the hint button, this became so annoying during the demo
Music was nearly nothing much, sounded like a drone sort of noise also there was ticking noise that annoyed me, but you can turn the music or ambience right down, so not really a problem
While I won't buy this game now, maybe I can get over the glint thing, for the above reason [which is a shame because I quite liked it] I think it would be a good IHOG/Light Adventure game for beginners
I recommend this game!

Trivia Machine Reloaded
Climb to the top of the ladder by answering fun questions from the trivia machine! The game features thousands of fun trivia questions in 9 categories.
If you like Trivial Pursuit [which I do] you'll love this game.
Premis of the game is to answer questions from a variety of subjects; History, Sports, Geography, Television, Movies, Art and Literature etc. which alternate between 3 boxes which shows the amount of $ you can win. Levels progress as you fill the money column which increases with each level
Further into the game you will get add-ons such as 'Lightening Round' where you have to answer 10 questions in 60 seconds #great fun# 'Double Money' 'Extra Turns' [which I needed more than once] If you run out of turns you go back to Level 1 but with different questions. Questions range from Easy to Hard; box 1 is always the easiest although the amount of $ you can win is less
I haven't come across any repeated questions, but I've only managed to teach the 6th level [sad face]
Achievements : there are quite a few...Answer so many questions in a certain amount of time....answer so many questions in a certain subject etc.
You can also post your score on a leaderboard on the net.
I'm really enjoying the game [except the Sports questions LOL] It's fun!
Story...Brother and sister inherit a run-down house and go to meet the Estate Agent who is going to sell it for them. Estate Agent disappears and brother is abducted, so it's up to Sis to find out what's going on.
This is a HOPA (hidden object puzzle adventure)
Game opened in small screen [black bars at the side] but in the 'Options' I was offered 'Full Screen' which doesn't normally work for me, but did this time...looked slightly stretched but not disproportionally so on my 15 inch lappy
2 modes of play...Normal, Advanced [hint and skip button take about 4 mins to refill in Advanced mode] I started in 'Casual mode' and tried to change while playing, but couldn't...swapped to new profile to see if anything different, only thing seemed to be the Hint and Skip times
Note Book and Task Journal
Hidden Object scenes are cleverly done, a little bit different to the norm
Puzzles [for me] were med - hard
Advanced players might not like the idea of being told what to do each time they enter a room...example...on entering I was told what I had to do [ I thought thats what the 'Task Journal' was for, although I did discover later in the game you weren't told how to get there, which was a plus] or to fix something even before I had a chance to look around....clicked on a T.V. monitor and this littl box appears on the side which says 'Knob missing'...quite annoying. Sparkles indicating HOS [Hidden Object Scenes]
Hint button gives you a hint but not a solution [tells you what to do but not how to do it] something which I love...when pressed I was given a 'hand print' of places to go, if you wait the 'handprints' will disappear except the one you need at the time
Opinion : I liked the game, different from the run of the mill Hidden Object Games. I liked the attention to detail...example....you could replay the record on the grammaphone or you had to use 2 tools sometimes to remove or undo something...this may annoy some but I like it . Little grey cells will get a workout with this game as direction of where to go is limited....love it
I came across no Technical difficulties at all. Clear ,colourful graphics Game took me about 8 hours, but I'm a slow player
