What a game, one of the best Time Management games I've played. Spaceships, golems, ghosts, bombs and lots of fun.
The usual choices of modes of play. The strategy guide is on a video for each level.
A reasonable amount of strategy required without having to pull your hair out. A variety of powerups ranging from 'move faster' 'instant recharge of resources and bonuses' Trade one resource for another.
There's a variety of well hidden, small objects to find, you can turn of this feature in the game. You don't lose any stars for not finding all the objects, just a bit more fun or frustration...lol
Game automatically opens in widescreen Lockable Inventory (+ items) Voiceovers with lip sync Dialogue can be skipped Multiple Profiles
Options : Choice of Custom Cursor Subtitles Voice/Effects/Music Volume Adjustment
Modes of Play: Easy, Hard, Insane and Custom (In the latter you can turn off Sparkles, Helpful messages, Adjust Hint/Skip times etc. All modes tell you what and what you don't get and can be changes during play via the 'Menu' tab)
Extras: Bonus Game Mini Bubble Shooter/Marble Popper Game - play to earn tokens to unlock sections of the game like 8 Wallpapers , Movies, Developers Hunt etc. Art - locked (earn tokens to unlock) Case File and movies - locked till Bonus Game is completed Morphing Object Room - Locked till game is finished and unlocked by earning tokens Music - 9 savable tracks Replayable Mini Puzzles Replayable Hidden Object Puzzles (Shows precision %, timed play)
Collectibles : 14 Ladybugs (Found in the Hidden Object Puzzles) Morphing Object : 42 Various objects
Achievements : 17 - Find 4 objects in 8 seconds, use jump map once, complete all Hidden Object Puzzles in the 'Extras' menu etc (always worth a read before beginning the game if you're an Achievements fan)
Hidden Object Puzzles (14) : Interactive lists, lists (Objects were named correctly and easy to find and contained a collectible Ladybug)
Mini Puzzles (27) : Great variety including multi step ones (portions of which can be skipped without skipping the whole puzzle) Turning circles, origami folding, placement of clock hands and setting the correct time etc.
Icons: Book - Journal/Objectives Typewriter - Hint (10/120 seconds adjustment in 'Custom' mode) Tick - Morphing Objects found Guide - Shows 7 Chapters plus bonus Chapter, separate view of where to find Morphing objects, Ladybugs, Instructions on Bubble Shooter to earn Tokens etc. Map - Jump Map (Scenes named only, shows the usual) Badge: Achievements reached and when clicked takes you to the Achievements room
Story: As a Mystery Case Files detective you are a proud member of an elite group whose motto is to 'Seek and Solve' so when you receive a letter from the Queen, who needs your assistance, you readily agree to find a loyal and well though of member of Her Majesty's staff; it seems his last known whereabouts was Huxley's Boarding House. George Pritchard where are you?
Opinion : I purchased the game without demoing as I quite enjoyed the BETA and it hasn't disappointed so far. As with all MCF games it concentrates on the story and the mini puzzles and this game was no different. Loved that you could skip portions of the multi step puzzles without skipping the whole thing; this really annoys me in multi step puzzles. The puzzles were varied and fun and some weren't that easy so some will struggle with a few of these as I did, but they were enjoyable. Graphics were good as were voiceovers. No tech difficulties so far. Also liked you actually had to use your Journal for clues in the game. The only negative was that if you wanted to view sections in the 'Extras' you had to play a Bubble Shooter/Marble Popper Game, not sure of the correct term, to earn Tokens to unlock them. Definitely different but I found it tedious as I'm not a fan of Bubble Shooters. I did play and earned enough to unlock the Wallpapers which came in varying sizes and were downloaded to 'My Documents'. Annoying to me...Why not set as background straight away *shrug* All that said I'm looking forward to finishing the game to see what this 'Developers Hunt' is all about

Morphing Objects : 27 (I think) various items (reasonably easy to see)
Hidden Object Puzzles : Various varieties - Refill Lists. Refill Silhouettes. Multi Step of finding so many of to open a list. Silhouette/Morphing. etc. (Didn't see where any puzzles were replayable or there was another play option) Mini Puzzles : Seems to be a puzzle heavy game of mixed easy/hard... Move chess pieces to trap your opponent, unlock locks to remove chains in the correct order, lockpick, right positioning of clock hands, select a word from a list to look up information on the internet. etc.
Icons: Pencil - Strategy Guide (Shows 6 Chapters plus Bonus Chapter and Collectibles/Morphing Objects positions. Story : Well here you sit once again in your office with no clients.. Anna Gray, detective extraordinaire... your father, who tried to kill you and your sister Louise, is dead... you must find your missing relatives but where to start... A knock at the door produces a client in the name of Rosette Darkwood, the headmistress of Darkwood Manor Girls Boarding School who has come to you, after having no help from the local police, to help you find missing students that have vanished from the school. According to her, a Dorian Black of Crimson Hollow knows something of the latest disappearances... she leaves the evidence folder with you that she has collected... is Rosette Darkwood just a headmistress or are the rumours true that she is the head of a secret organisation known as the 'Black Widows' and where are the missing girls..
Opinion : No tech difficulties during demo... graphics were good as were voiceovers with lip sync. The game is mini puzzle heavy, so if you're a fan of these you'll enjoy the game... I quite liked the variety that was offered, same with the HOPS, good variety. Liked the interactive play with the dad's skull, yes i know, small minds... lol. There was a couple of things I disliked however... The Inventory was very small and I was forever scrolling through it to find a needed item, think there was only room for 5 items and at once stage I had 17 items in the Inventory. The other thing was the forever popping up of the 'Task Notebook', very annoying... while I did enjoy the demo these two things were enough for me to put this game aside until I've got a bit more patience.

Story : Your sister Layla has been put into the Iron Gate Prison asylum charged with killing 3 classmates on a camping holiday. You know she's innocent but you have to enter the asylum under cover to prove it. You have an ally in the warden, Michael Hall, but he is the only one who knows that prisoner 76 is Sarah Sommers who is undercover to prove her sister's innocence. You soon find all is not as it seems...Michael is proving more of a hinderance than help and there is an evil paranormal energy in the asylum that seems to inhabit your sister... can you defeat it, free your sister and prove her innocence and manage to get out of the asylum unscathed.
Opinion : Game flowed smoothly from scene to scene, no tech difficulties. Wasn't too keen on the bluish colour but it wasn't too bad once the game got going. Really liked the mix up of Hidden Object Puzzles and the different ways the mini puzzles were presented...the only popups I noticed were the 'new objective, completed objective' notification. The main thing that annoyed me was the silly Lantern jumping around when you had to use it to fight the 'Evil Energy' but the rest of the game more than made up for that so it's a buy for me. A little bit of mystery with the 'Labyrinth' and 'Collectibles' rooms which are locked until the game is completed. Overall a good game.

Settings: Size choice of cursor. Audio adjustments and the ability to turn off all. Choice to turn off Achievement notifications as well as those other annoying popouts.
Lockable Inventory - interesting addition to the game is the 'Combiner', when you click on certain items the Combiner will appear and show silhouetted shapes around it that need to be found and when all items have been found the desired object can be combined e.g. finding all the Templar knight's armour.
Modes of Play : 4 - Novice, Adventure, Challenge and Custom #Hint/Skip taken down to 30secs, choice of sparkles etc.# modes can be changed during gameplay.
Extras: Replayable Mini and Hidden Object Puzzles games. Background Story. 9 Concept Art. 5 Wallpapers. 5 music tracks.
Collectibles: 15 Doves
Achievements: 16 #Finish game in 'Challenge' Mode, finish game without using a hint. etc. always worth a look before beginning the game if you're a fan of these#
Icons: Timer - Hint #when clicked on it shows the amount of refill time# Diary - Shows Tasks and notes. Collectibles, Jump map #scenes named# Summary of game progression, Raven #Backstory of scenes you're visiting as the game progresses#. Footprints - shows all directions you can take #click on it and it will be turned off# Book - Strategy guide #only showed 2 chapters in demo# Tasks - attached to Inventory Bar #when clicked on shows immediate task to perform#
Hidden Object Puzzles: Multi step refill list #once you've finished the list you continue to use inventory items to complete the puzzle or you're asked a question and you find the item that answers the question# Refill Silhouettes #all items distinguishable and properly named#\
Mini Games: Placement of smallest to largest, rotating circles, arrange blocks to fit in the outline of a picture, fighting an opponent by clicking on your shield at the right time to defend the blows etc.
Story: There are rumours that the Inquisitor, Augustine, who is in charge at Portonero in Spain, is obsessed in hunting down witches and is accusing everyone and the whole town is petrified. The Cardinal has chosen you, a trusted Monk, to travel there and find out what is behind the sudden madness that has beset the Inquisitor.
Opinion: No tech difficulties during gameplay. Voiceovers were good with lip sync and dialogue could be skipped. Mini Games, while reasonable easy and nothing new were fun and I do like the interaction when there's a fight. HOPS were done a little differently. Collectibles were reasonable easy to spot. If you see a raven in a scene, click on it and the background story of the scene will be told for example when I reached Portonero I clicked on the raven that led me there, who had settled on the top of the entrance gates to the town, and an interesting minute or so background story was told. Graphics were wonderfully done, I love snowy games. Gameplay was smooth and I loved the first Where Angels Cry, albeit it was some time ago and games have come a long way since then. Is this a buy for me.... yes it is.

Game opened in full screen Inventory stays down (blue rose icon will bring it up when needed or run your cursor along bottom of screen. Interactive items aren't marked but when all parts are found they complete themselves#
Options: Special Effects/Voice Volume Adjustment. Turn off Tutorial. Choice of Cursor. Modes of Play - 2: Casual and Advanced #still get black bar conversation but no directional arrows or glints in the latter mode# Modes can be changed during play.
Icons: Blue Rose: Bring Inventory up. Back Arrow: takes you out of a scene. Run your cursor along top of screen and the Hint button will appear #?# Directional arrow and places of interest tab also at the top #you won't see the latter in Advanced mode# and the Menu tab.
Hidden Object Puzzles: The ones I came across were the same.... interactive refill lists #objects were clear and properly named) Mini Games: Pipes, Circle Alignment, Placement... nothing new here but well presented
Story: You've lost your memory and suffer from nightmares... dreaming of a place and time of many years ago. You meet and fall in love with a wonderful man, and soon become engaged. Your fiancé, Matt, convinces you the only way to stop the nightmares is to find the place you are dreaming about and discover your past. You and Matt set out and soon find familiar surroundings but are chased by a viscous creature and you both fall into a deserted building, when you awake Matt has disappeared. You soon find there are more viscous creatures here... you must escape and find Matt... but what or who is the apparition that keeps appearing and why do you feel an affinity with it
Opinion: No tech difficulties during play, there were scenes of the blue colouring that I dislike but only a couple. The graphics were sharp and clear. Puzzles were relatively simple but required patience, well for me anyway. This game is a bit old school where you had to do things in a certain order even if you had the item to use in your Inventory.... can be a bit frustrating, and there was a bit of back tracking. There were voiceovers, lip sync was a bit off. The Hint/Skip fills quite quickly in both modes. I quite enjoyed the simplicity of the game, I'm so over games where there's the forever popups telling you you've reached an Achievement or you've completed a Task etc. The atmosphere and music are decidedly creepy. .... this is a buy for me.
I bought this game because it has none of the gimmicks of the games of late... good to see one like this for a change.
I didn't have any tech difficulties during demo but have lost the Hint feature a couple of times since, but it does return.
I recommend this game!

Game opens in full screen Choice of Cursor Lockable Inventory Strategy Guide shows 3 Chapters (Collectibles Page shows positions of Morphing Objects) Jump Map (Scenes not named)
Modes Of Play: 4 - Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom (the latter allows you to turn off Black Bar Tips, Sparkles, and adjust the time of the Hint/Skip button down to 5 secs. etc. All modes tell you what and what you don't get. Modes can be changed during play by clicking 'Menu' then 'Options'
Collectibles Tab : Shows an Aquarium where you can view Morhped Objects, when found. Achievements drop down tab which takes you to your Achievements room which also has a drop down tab for the Aquarium. #There's also a drop down tab for both on the game page which briefly drops down to alert you when you've got an Achievement or found a Morphing Object#
Achievements: Varied - Find all items in a HOP without using a hint. Complete so many mini puzzles without skipping etc. and a rather interesting one is when you click on the green plaque, in the Achievements Room, it takes you to a chained and locked location telling you, you have to reach all Achievements to access. Worth a look before starting the game if your a fan of Achievements.
Collectibles: Morphing Objects #16, I think....got carried away playing the game and the demo finished before I could count properly#
Hidden Object Puzzles: The ones I came across were Interactive Lists #Items correctly named and quite easy to find# Mini Games: I came across were Random guessing of Symbols in the right order. Guide a token to home base. Swapping panels to make a picture #Choice of hard or easy in this one# Placing books in the right place etc.
Extras: Show 6 Wallpapers, 9 Concept Art, 4 Screen Savers, Movies, 12 Mini Games to replay, 19 Hidden Object Puzzles to replay #once played in the game# Music, etc.
Magic Mirror: A little into the game you receive a 'Magic Mirror' which you use to examine evidence to find the true nature of the object. The results go into your Notes. These items have a green tick attached to them in your Inventory.
Story: In this 7th Dark Tales you accompany Dupin to visit his friend, Jacque, who has married a beauty by the name of Marie Roget. Both were happy until recently when his new wife suddenly stopped talking to him and strange things started happening in their home that is upsetting both him and Marie.
Upon arriving you discover Marie has disappeared. You and Dupin must discover what is causing the strange occurrences and above all find Marie.
Opinion: No tech difficulties during gameplay. The mini puzzles were varied and I found quite fun but not particularly difficult. The last Dark Tales I liked was 'Black Cat', the best in my opinion. It's not a particularly challenging game but I quite enjoyed the demo and the 90 mins passed quickly. Voiceovers were good with only some characters having lip sync though. The graphics were clear and bright without being garish and you get a Private Investigator's badge of your own plus the delectable Dupin....who could ask for more to wile away a few hours on a rainy day...it's a buy for me.

REVIEW IS BASED ON DEMO Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure Game {HOPA}
Game opened in W/S, always a good start. There are 3 modes of play which you can change during play. Casual, Normal and Hardcore Casual....hint and skip fill quickly.... Normal....hint, skip longer to fill and your hint button is disabled if you skip a puzzle Hardcore...everything disabled, including map but you still get the 'Helpful tips' black bar Jumpable Map Profile for up to 6 names 6 Chapters plus Bonus game...chapters not available There are Collectible... pop up notes and various items and Achievements which all can be viewed before and during play via the Bonus Button. There are also Cursed or Morphing Objects ....which can't be viewed during the demo
Cut-scenes can be rewatched. Choice of 6 Wallpapers Music is unobtrusive
Strategy Guide is a ? above your map There is also a Task List which alerts you when you have a new task. To get back to the Main Menu click on the Options button under the map
I only came across one HOS {Hidden Object Scene} during demo which was a fragmented one {finding various parts of an object to make it whole} The puzzles I played were a little bit different and fun and quite easy.
Storyline...Your sister is kidnapped by the crooked man whose own love had died....she is only one of many who has disappeared along a certain road in a certain place....so of course your quest is to save your sister and get to the bottom of the other disappearances.
There is no animated little helper in this game....well I didn't come across one in the demo....this could be a good or a disappointing thing depending on your preference...for me it's....well let's just say...appreciated
Worth saying again...graphics truly amazing. The portion I played was fun and the hour passed quickly. I had no Tech. difficulties during the hour.

A meteorite lands on Earth and the scientists run experiments on it resulting in exotic plants to over run the city causing it to be evacuated but 2 children are missing and the scientists have disappeared so it's your job as a Detective to find the children and discover what is happening.
Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure {HOPA}
Game opened is widescreen...great start. 4 modes of difficulty...which can be changed during play...another big plus. Inventory can be locked into place...thumbs up There are Achievements, which can be viewed before starting the game...thumbs up again
There is a jump map...also where you view other things you have to find....won't give too much away here
There is so much happening in this game that you definitely won't get bored....There are collectibles, a garden to decorate, secrets to find, money to be earn
There is a journal that keeps you up with the story and some helpful information....there is a task list...an 'eye' icon which allows you to view your collectibles, achievements and garden
The Hidden Object Scenes{HOS} are interactive and a little different...the hint button takes about 30 secs to refill in 'Casual' mode. Puzzles are different to what I have played previously and I enjoyed them a lot...med-hard for me...but there is a 'Skip' button which takes about 30secs. to fill as well
The hint button outside of HOS takes about 30-40 secs. to refill, it doesn't tell you exactly what you have to do...it hints...a big thumbs up in my book.
The graphics are crisp and clear and I didn't have any Tech. difficulties during demo
I'm loving this game and can't wait to get back to it.

IHOG {Interactive Hidden Object Game} 3rd of the Mystery Age series, I'm not enjoying it as much as the other 2....there are no voiceovers, no widescreen for me, no choice of difficulty, there is a choice of custom or system cursor, no choice to lock inventory into place, which annoys me greatly, hint button fills quickly outside of HOS {Hidden Object Scene} it tells you 'there is nothing to do here' doesn't guide you to where there is...although if you enter a scene and aren't quick enough there are 'glints' to guide you...another pet hate of mine
HOS {Hidden Object Scenes} are plentiful...I came across 2 types....straight lists and finding pieces of an object to make it whole to further use in the scene. Items were easy to see and find. I only came across one easy puzzle. No click penalty in HOS...which I like...Cutscenes can be skipped, which are fixed scenes
Storyline is The Chaos God has returned and taken control of a village and its inhabitants and you have to save them and defeat him and 'bring back the light' so everything is rosy again
Graphics are good and I didn't experience any Tech difficulties in the time I played
