I have been in a slump with games, to be honest, so this was a refreshing surprise. I didn't think it'd be that good from the screenshots, but decided to give it a try since the reviews were good. It's in an older game type style, but still visually stimulating. The music wasn't bad, but I did turn it down to listen to my own music, usually, and I'd zone out to play the game or play the mini-game a few times to earn a bit extra to buy a upgrade.
About the game: it starts off pretty easy for each level/area and gets a bit harder as the tasks get more varied and involved. You play a few easy rounds to gather some money for your important upgrades and then it gets a bit harder, by adding new things for the nurse to fetch or do. I admit, by the end of each area, I was a bit frantic, but not so much that it annoyed me or anything.
Something that may not be enjoyed. You must buy new upgrades for each area. This isn't as bad as I thought it would be, initially. You tend to make enough in the last level and the mini-game of each area to have enough to buy the first upgrade or two, so it's not a huge deal. Upgrades are pretty much the same each time, so I wish there would have been some different upgrades. There were certain upgrades that were used in certain hospitals and I wish I could have used them in others.
The story is very simple and not the main focus of the game, so it's not very exciting, but it makes sense, so that's a plus. I've played games where the story was all over the place and missing things and because of that, even if the game play was interesting, it just felt lacking. I like that this was simple, it gave me just enough to make me understand what and why I was doing what I was doing and there were some funny little lines of dialogue.
Only thing that did get a bit annoying was how repetitive it got. Each area was pretty much the same thing, just a different theme to the hospital (which were nice) and items would be in different places and some of the machines would differ. I guess that's about all they could vary, but it would have been nice to see different doctors or different patients or something.

I had demoed this game a long while ago, but finally purchased it. I remember I liked it before, and the game started where I left off and I decided to just go from there. It was pretty easy to pick up because I was still very much at the beginning as I hadn't even gotten inside the main building, where most of the game takes place. The graphics were good, despite it being a decently old game. The HoS were decently difficult, but not so bad that it was hard. The mini games weren't too bad and only one gave me a bit of trouble and the instructions were a bit sparse (the water and ceiling), but figured it out and got through it quickly.
I enjoyed the storyline because I'm very interested in psychology, so it was great and I enjoyed it immensely, until it got to chart 9 and 10. I found chart 10 first and had the items from exploring, so it took me less than a minute to finish that one, same with 9, and the outcomes seemed so simple after the rest had you going all over and even having to help the other patients before being able to complete another. The ending, oh goodness, the ending was ... I don't want to say bad, but it definitely fell VERY flat after it had built itself up so much. I was ready to have to save someone else or fight the guy or do some huge puzzle, but nope. Then, there's a patient you never even find out about. Doesn't seem in-character for the "hero" or the fiance to have just overlooked the wandering patient. I haven't played the next game in the series, so maybe it's answered there, but I would have liked some type of closure with that patient. The end was just so anti-climactic that it disappointed me a bit.

I did not love this as I thought I would. I was hoping something more along the lines of the poem, I guess. While it had much of the poem's elements, it just seemed rather off. So, I didn't really enjoy the storyline.
The visuals and graphics, were great, though. I loved how well things matched up and it was a rich sound. It wasn't overdone, which was nice. The only thing that, often, takes me out of the game is Dupin. He just doesn't sound like he fits in with the surroundings. He talks like someone walking around right now, today. Not someone fitting in with the time period.
Jumping around the map was a bit tedious at times. You "finish" at an area and it takes you to a new area, and those are the only places you can jump to. If you need to go to a past area for something you missed, you have to backtrack by clicking the bottom of the screen. I only had to do it a few times, though, so not bad.
I bought the collector's edition because I have the credits piling up, and I wasn't overly excited about the extra features, so I'd tell people to just buy the standard edition.
Overall, it has the usual good things I like about this game series, but the story just didn't catch me or excite me.

This was my first time playing a Mystery Trackers game, so I wasn't that familiar with it, but I knew it was an HOG, so I went with it. I loved the story, even if it was a bit ... shallow, to me, but still intriguing enough. The HOG scenes were nice, not just lists of words, but silhouettes and things you had to do to find the object. The objects weren't hard to see and pretty easy to get through. The voice acting was quite good and realistic. The characters were drawn well. Everything was quite good, but I just wish it would have been a tiny bit more challenging. I guess I could have just played it on the highest mode, though, and it would have given me more of a challenge, but all in all, great game. I'll be checking out more from this series.
I recommend this game!

I was really looking forward to this game. Just the image was enough to get me interested. I ended up deleting it after only a few minutes. The graphics are extremely poor, the game has bad lighting. And what really gets to me with these types of games is when I see something on the item list and spend the longest time looking for it, finally get frustrated and use a hint... only to find that the item was something completely different. It's probably my biggest pet peeve. So, that, mixed with the bad graphics made this a no-buy for me.
