The FROG scenes I played several years ago almost cost me my vision and I vowed to never again. But reviewers said the scenes in this were much better and I agree with them. However, I got well into Chapter 2 and kept waiting for something interesting to develop - like a storyline.
The only reason I downloaded the trial is because one of the Top Contributors wrote that "The Little Mermaid is another example of how well a PC game can be made." I am one of the many MAC customers and I guess that comment rubbed me the wrong way. At any rate I didn't like the game but maybe the comment was right.
The game develops a story that keeps you puzzled until the end. Many puzzles, more HOGs than I personally prefer and the HOGS get more difficult toward the end. I thought the cut scenes were well done.
Your grandfather disappeared while searching for Inuits' legendary treasure. Travel to the Arctic to find your missing grandfather and solve the Inuit mystery.
I read many reviews of people who loved the game but apparently most of them downloaded the free trial then rushed to post a review. Movie and book reviewers don't base their reviews on a short sample and I wish fishies wouldn't.
I did enjoy the free trial but the game seemed to drag after that. I guess it was missing the logic we need to work our way through.
Some of the HOG scenes were bad and a story should have a beginning, a middle, and an ending.
Lovely, fun, and different with some challenging puzzles

I won't repeat the story since others have done a fine job with that. The HOS are beautifully done with much color and dimension. I can usually solve all puzzles in adventure games but one puzzle in this one still has me stumped. I've played it three times now to get all the postcards. Truly a lovely break from some of the more ghoulish and satanic offerings.
The only reason I gave it two stars is because it had some good puzzles. Parts of HO scenes were so muddied at times. Like an amateur painted them, then smudged over with gray to blur them. I used the hint button repeatedly just to get past. I loved the Nightfall Mystery series done by these developers and felt this was far inferior to those. I usually play my favorites many times, but think I may put this one in the trash.
