I haven't expected a true MCF game since after MCF Fate's Carnival. But this was the next best thing. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's a worthy game as a stand alone but also it really brings back many of the MCF characters. The music is absolutely perfect!! And I didn't have it on for the beginning but sure wish I had cause it really set the tone of the game. The puzzles although some were easy, others were not so much. The Rube Goldberg puzzles were pretty easy, not the usual challenging type that were in Ravenhurst series, which are my favorite puzzles. I really enjoyed playing this game. But you're dealing with a tough crowd to please, the original games are really hard to mimic with a new twist. But this was a great effort and I really appreciated the thought and creativity put into it.
This was actually a good game in many ways. Not my favorite type of game as I prefer period games. I bought this on the developer name only. I like the game but am really angry about the CE designation as it is just not a CE game hence the 2 stars. I'm guessing they meant the last 4 chapters to be the CE extras but there was no indication of that, no separation in the game to make that clear. Boomzap has a great stable of games as mentioned by a previous reviewer. However, there is no 'extras' which is what I expect with a CE, no extra chapters, no collectibles, no nothing...nada, zip, zero. I am very disappointed. I should have tried it out before I bought it but Boomzap used to be a great developer. This game although has really challenging HOPA's, and good puzzles was extremely wordy and lots of talking which was great for the story, not so much for the game. It's a really limp version of what I have come to expect from this developer. Honestly, wait for the standard version.
I had a few issues with some of the puzzles, most notably the first puzzle where you had to choose items by pulling on the rope to search for them, the rope just wouldn't work so I had to skip it. There were a few others that had a glitch and it crashed when doing one of the puzzles in the bonus chapter and the HOS's weren't easy peazy, yayyyy! The glitches are the only reason for the one less star - we really need half star choices. Great story though, well thought out puzzles and The God of Truth was different - really liked Rick's perspective on Truth - personally thought it was very accurate. Truth in the eye of the beholder can be different for everyone, just because we can see the truth about someone does not mean they are able to see it yet. The Johari Window is a wonderful tool for seeking personal truth. Check it out BF, could be an idea for the next Paranormal Files. It did seem that some of the people in the credits on the developing team were originals for the MCF early games. Oh I wish BF would use their own team to dream up another MCF game - you have so much untapped talent in your stable and they it was BF that was the original developer for MCF. This game was interesting enough to keep me playing and engaged. I missed one of the eyes so couldn't complete the Secret Room puzzle, glad I couldn't just go back and get it because I will play it again. A game that has re-playable value is a game for me.

This game was quite challenging so I can see if newer gamers struggle with it. You don't know where to go next for most of the game and I LOVE THAT! I like that locks need different items to open them, not the usual key shapes. There was a great mix of games and HOS's, but I did choose the equal mix option. I will play it again which is a good indication of how well a game is put together for me. My only complaint is that it was too short, sigh, I do miss the good old days of 6 to 8 hour games. I have been a member for about 10 years now so I have a ton of experience on what to do in a game... look EVERYWHERE and check EVERYTHING because you just never know what object you'll need to take the next step. I do favor Grandma Studios as they have beautiful graphics and usually a good story. This game was one of the better, well thought out installments of the Whispered Secrets series.

This game is fun and has all the boosters I need. I love the ability to earn cannon balls and to replay a section if I'm not happy with the results. It's super challenging but not impossible to win. I have played it now at least 20 times and will play it again. I love a game that challenges me enough to want to do better each time I play it. Worth EVERY PENNY!!

Really enjoyed playing this game. There were a few instances where people suddenly disappeared but just after explanations were offered to clear up the disappearances. Storyline was new and really kept my interest. It was a little short but still a great game. There were repeat uses of finding items but the items were varied enough to keep it interesting. Nice to have a good game to play, will play it again down the road.
One of the best and true to their product developers has once again put out a superior game. Although I am starting to see the games get smaller the product still holds it's value in gameplay, interest, quality and story. I usually love the extra puzzle games but I find these particular puzzles are too challenging for me. Great add to their roster of games, keep them coming Five-BN! And thank you for your commitment to quality and interesting gaming!
I'm not a scary game fan but this was a super creepy challenging and interesting game. You really have to think about your next step and I got quite lucky with a few of the choices, only died twice lol. so many things can go terribly wrong if you take a wrong step or make a bad decision. love the puzzles extras. Bonus game was just as intense. Well thought out game.

This one was so so so boring, I found myself dreading having to click on Dupin because he voice was so annoying and dull, what happened to the real Dupin?? It was so grating I had to quit half way through, just like the last game. This is the last Dark Tales I will waste my money on. They've just gotten so terribly boring, same puzzles over and over and over in the same game over and over and over. These games used to be enjoyable to play, now I just can't stand to even play them. The voice actor for Dupin has no life, he sounds like he's reading from a script. A definite awful game. Save your money.

I'm a huge fan of anything steampunk so I was in at the start. I loved the whole theme of the game! So much going on and the colors were intense. It could have been overwhelming but instead the game really kept my interest. The puzzles were great, some were quite challenging. Lots of collectibles that added an extra HOG and mini puzzle at the end. My biggest complaint was that it was so short and the final puzzle was kind of a limp attempt at an extra. Usually the extra HOG has way more to find and the puzzle was awfully small. The extra chapter was also a glimpse into what happened to get some of the characters into the main game, and I'm not a fan of that sort of thing, I think it's lazy and a limp attempt at adding more to the game. I really miss the BIG games of the past. I recommend this game but only at the sale price. I realize that $14.95 is not a lot to pay for a few hours of entertainment but I'm so spoiled by the games of the past that anything created these days is often a big disappointment.
