You are one of the planet's only survivors after a natural disaster devours all signs of life. Amid the destruction, the legend of a Mysterious Oasis offers a glimmer of hope...
I completed this game within the free hour with 10 minutes to spare. Cute game but I would have been really miffed if I had wasted a freebee or any money on this one. It was really easy for the most part but would have been a challenge for anyone new to HOG adventure games. I absolutely do not recommend this to ANYONE with HOG gaming experience....you will be greatly disappointed at how short it is and how easy. :(
I rarely give reviews anymore, as I find that most CE's are just glorified SE's. I'm not interested in how the artwork was done, or the music or having a screensaver. I rarely use the guide but it is quite nice to have it accessible. It is the length of gameplay and how my interest in the game is held. THIS game is a GEM and a TRUE CE in my opinion. I was EXTREMELY please that I was able to play for roughly 10 hours including the bonus extra and the only time I would be willing to pay the CE price is if that is what the game offers. The graphics were crisp, clear and beautiful. The voice overs excellent and really gave the game a realistic feel for me. The music wasn't annoying and added to the mood of the game without being constantly repetitive...simply because I was caught up in the game itself. The pace was just right and held my interest throughout. Really loved all the puzzle HO scenes, the by number stuff got old but still was fun. Rarely had to use the hint button as play was consistent with what needed to be done with just a few items needed to go back but within or near the next scene. Just all in all an absolute pleasure to play....this is what I look forward to every time a CE comes out I hope it is like this one and really looking forward to another Madame Fate type of game...as this one I felt was at least close to the same level of excellence. Thanks BIG FISH...another GREAT GAME!
Although this is an MCF game you will be rocked off your kilter by the new format! This game has EVERYTHING a CE should have and some and it's loads of fun. I am only 1/3 of the way through after 3 hours of gameplay WOOT WOOT!!! Worth every penny of the CE price as I could not cash in on the special since I own practically every CE listed. After playing the free portion I decided to buy and am not disappointed! There are 14 chapters plus the bonus, an extra Solitaire gameplay, A new and exciting gameplay addition to the journal your are gonna LOVE. And of course a sleek cat with an elegant home to decorate. FUN, FUN, FUN!! With long gameplay.....WIN, WIN, WIN for me! I know I'm gushing but this game is worth it's weight in spittle...um gold. BF and Elephant games has another BIG HIT!
Sigh.....such a disappointment in light of the more recent and far better developers on the market. It's not that it isn't great in graphics although certainly not the standard I am now expecting from CE games, and it's not that it wasn't great quality. It's hohum....more a standard hohum CE that I had come to expect previously from developers. The bar has been raised significantly with games such as Rite of Passage Child of the Forest and Nevertales The Beauty Within, and this one doesn't even come close. The pet seemed like a fast add in and wasn't a delight at all....made me wonder why they even bothered??! Definitely would urge players to wait for a sale.....otherwise it's not worth the CE price. The story seemed slapped together with the extra gameplay making no sense and gave me the impression of childish and silly and not silly funny either....just silly pathetic. Sorry BF, I've been spoiled by the better, more advanced and exceptional developers as mentioned above. I will be far more careful in the future buying Eipix games.
A really fun game, alas, too short for me. 4 1/2 hours and that's solving every puzzle except one. Graphics are beautiful, puzzles are fun and interesting. HOPA's are well crafted and in order to play them you must use items to open them...so something new. Storyline kinda hohum but characters are beautifully rendered. Paid the full price before realizing there was a sale on.....extremely annoyed since it wasn't really worth the price. Sorry BF other more innovative and just all around exceptional developers to give this one a fiver. I always struggle with the "challenge" portion of the review since I don't like challenge but clever entertainment.... which the puzzles were entertaining, SOOOO short tho ARGH. I hate when I spend the full price and feel unfulfilled. :( I still recommend this game but take advantage of the sale price as the full price is not worth it.
A fantastic, incredible, amazing, fun, challenging but not overly difficult, brilliant adventure game!! This developer once again has produced another incredibly fantastic and awesome game. I don't even have the words to describe just how incredibly brilliant this adventure/HOG is.....all the above descriptions pale in comparison to the true nature of how wondrous and delightful it was to play this adventure game. I completed the game in just under 8 HOURS, YES, YOU HEARD ME, almost 8 hours!!!! Not only was it long but an incredible mix of new ways to play HOPA's, a new and different approach to discovering items and innovative and dazzling puzzles. I loved the extra bonus game, which was an adventure on it's own. The graphics are beautiful, clear and crisp. The story line creative and entertaining. The music a lovely mix of original classical pieces that were soothing and relaxing to listen to. Beautifully rendered in every possible way. The extra "chapters" were like playing a short version of another, not 1 but 2 stories. The ability to customize difficulty is also a huge plus for me and the first game to allow you to go back and find all the hidden roses in order to play the bonus chapters. REALLY PLEASED, with that feature as I never seem to find them all. This developer is in a class all their own, there is no other that compares to the level of superb execution, design and innovation. The only other developer that has come close is Playacademy's: Tale of Lagoona 2: Peril at Poseidon Park - which took me 35 hours to complete....YES you heard that right and if it had not been for all the crashes and glitches it would rate the same. Nothing I can say will give anyone the true experience of the game itself. A MUST BUY for all adventure/hog gamers. Bravo!! Big Fish and MadHeadGames.....a winner on every level!!
I really liked that there were lots of different tasks to do. The Hogs were nicely done, quite easy and fun rarely had to use my hint for them. There was the final stage where I had no clue what to do and had to go in search of a walkthrough to find the bat's blood, which was a little annoying. Graphics were nice but nothing to write home about. Interesting story line and length was definitely appreciable...which is always my big thing. There are only 5 chapters but they were quite long for the most part. Some of the puzzles were a little challenging as the descriptions weren't very explicit. The map wasn't that helpful so didn't use it. The hint button not much better but still helpful in the areas where things needed to be done, which works for me. The only real issues was the "glitch" with finding a piece of the staff in one of the hogs scenes as it wasn't showing up, and that the picture sorta just stayed whenever a "film" portion of the game would play, and I had to press the skip button to get out...which always make me feel like something didn't quite finish. Still all in all a good SE. I used a freebie which is always a bonus!
I recommend this game!

The Nightshift Code
A Hidden Object adventure that embarks on a mysterious and sometimes dangerous journey in search of a lost treasure.
Graphics are certainly nothing to write home about, however the game puzzles and HOS were interesting and challenging just enough to hold interest but not too difficult, well, except for one or 2 puzzles, which were VERY CHALLENGING. Actually had to go to the forum for a solution! The story was interesting and different. Would love to see more of these but with clearer, more color enhances graphics. The HOS's were challenging because it was difficult to see the items but mostly because they were well hidden. Great SE game!
I certainly can see where a few peeps would be turned off by the creepiness....as I get older my interest has severely waned for the creepy and macabre. Which this little game has in spades. I found it easy to maneuver but did need to use several hints so am grateful for the hint feature. I liked the task list and found the HOS's very entertaining and fun, although challenging. The graphics were quite gory and each scene had at least one ghostly character. certainly a perfect SE game and I enjoyed it immensely. I did find it rather short....but that's my long standing complaint about almost every game.
I recommend this game!

Short game....far too short for a CE 3 hours including bonus
Actually my perceptions and feelings about the game were precisely the same as "biscuitmamas". The graphics are okay but not spectacular. Although the artwork lovely it is also bit flat and seems to lack that something special that makes it come to life. The sound is either too loud or too quiet and it is difficult to get it just right. The HOS are progressive list type where you find an object and use it to find something else until you finally find the one object you need. I found the HOS had too much interaction to make them enjoyable and that's all there were...no mix or anything different to change it up.. Throughout the game you will find collage items that relate to each of the missing students but aside from that we only have the basic CE content thrown in. I reiterate what "biscuitmama", that the story just didn’t come together for me. The first Sable Maze was very good but this version seems lackluster and not nearly as good. Needless to say, I certainly don’t think this is a CE quality game. Most especially that it only lasted 3 hours including bonus content!! that's a REAL BUMMER for me. I'm glad I waited for the labour day sale and I still feel that I overpaid.
