After finishing "The Great Gatsby," I'm looking to read the book (skimmed it in high school, but I have a new appreciation) and hoping the folks who published this game will develop another based on classic lit. I really enjoyed the bright graphics, the music and the way the designers inventiveness developed HOS in the context of the book. I also want to put in a plea...I really wish the folks at MCF had given a look to this game when they wanted to develop variants on HOS's. Their morphing scenes failed in their last grim and gross outing. But in Gatsby HOS are varied by making them move and adding them to video cut scenes. The HO scenes were challenging enough, while not being frustrating and the additional hunts for books and such added to the general positive feel of he game. I continue to be tired and depressed by dark, rainy, gross HOGs and hope more like Gatsby will be forthcoming.
I'm a real fan of HOG's. Been so since I tried MCF's Dire Grove a few years back. But, ya know, sometimes I get real bored or just plain depressed hunting around piles of refuse in search of some little thing in a dark dreary background. I mean "Escape from Ravenhurst" was just over the top with dark and gross. If you ever feel the same way, Gardenscapes is the antidote. No rotting bodies, no ghostly creatures, no dark and dreary moods or music, just a butler, the dog and you rebuilding a classy garden. AND you can play for a few minutes when you have a break or sit for hours poking around rooms for stuff to sell and support the work on the garden. The music is fun and at times soothing. This the "Farmscapes" are two games I'll keep on the computer for while and revisit often whenever my nerves are shot and need to relax.
I'm a fan of HOG's and after trying this game developer's title "Gardenscapes" I was disappointed at first to see this was a match 3 game. But I'm glad I gave it a try. This is just a laid back delight. If you are tired of poking through piles of dark debris in order to find objects that will complete the latest ghoul infested story, give this a whirl. The two main characters are fun to watch and the progress they make will be smile worthy. You can fire up your computer and play for 10 minutes or for hours at a time and you won't feel like you have to back track to remind yourself of where you are. You will know that every time you open the game, you'll be greeted warmly and have a few minutes of peace. So enjoy this little game and relax.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.

I wanted to love this game and was impressed that a new take on HOG's was attempted by the folks at MCFs. But the morphing object idea is frankly a failure and just plain annoying at times. It also appears the game developers tried to come up with the darkest, grossest thing that could at every turn. The game is graphically impressive, but too dark to be fun and the morphing object idea is just a flop. It is the first time I've purchased a collectors edition and I regret doing it. My first HOG was Dire Grove, I wish the MCF people would return to that kind of feel.
