Review from playing the demo. This ship isn't the Titanic and it certainly isn't the average cruiseship we see nowadays, with lots of decks filled with amusement of all kinds. It's just a 1917 cruiseship, looking worn out and rusty though it's just builed. That has its reasons and you're about to find them out as you investigate the death of a young man involved with the construction of the ship. This could be an interesting story, so I started out hopeful, but soon my expectations dropped because of a number of illogical tasks I had to perform, and, in the first HO scene, when I had to collect certain numbers of identical objects. In itself not an uncommon way of searching in HO games, but I had to do it again in another setting not much later and it made me fear this would be repeated all through this game. Together with the somewhat boring personalities and lack of atmosphere in general this ocean adventure fails to take me along. Pity. Grandma games, normally, are games I'm looking out for.
Review after playing the demo. The first thing that strikes me is the high quality of the game. Excellent graphics, realistic looking people and almost perfect lip sync. Especially the latter you don't see in many games. The story is interesting enough to keep my attention. The Hidden Object scenes are pleasantly challenging, you really have to look good to discover the objects, it's not that you can point them all out in practically no time. Can't tell you much about the mini games though, because in general I'm not that in to minigames, I'm skipping them most of the time. But overall this game looks like an excellent one, it also makes me curious for the other ones in this City Legends series. Well done Domini!
Really enjoyed this game in the Grim Tales series. Richard is gone for good it seems, but nevertheless this was fun. Best part, the beautiful design of all the objects in the scenes. Eyecandy allover, even in the details. Story was exciting, didn't get bored for a second. The Jester in the bonus game was an interesting character as well. Overall, fantastic, worth every dollarcent I've payed for it.
Have been doubtful for some time about this developer, but I'm no longer. Graphics are cristal clear, people look good, voice over is seamless, HO scenes are fun and challenging again stories are well chosen and this one is fun. Yes! Do has regained my intrest!
This is a good game. Really. After all, it's a GrandMa game, so I'm used to decent graphics and smooth playing. But... I hoped for a Mystery Case Files game and, unfortunately, this isn't. It has multiple layered puzzles, yes, but it doesn't have that extra thrill, it doesn't get me eager to find out the rest of the story like the original MCF's always did. It's just a good game, compared to so many other HOG's nowadays, and that's all. I could have waited purchasing it in the standard version.
PuppetShow has always been one of my favorite HOGs. I've purchased all of the games and have never been sorry. Nowadays I'm repalying them and enjoy it every time. Incredibly creative, these game artists. All those puppet designs, big or small. It's a pleasure to look at, I'm never getting bored. Thanks people of Amax! Appriciating your work very much!
Lately I'm not often playing HOGs. I used to do that a lot in the past, but the games aren't just as good as they once were, sadly to say. But I rather like this new game from the Immortal Love series. I like the graphics, the characters and the story, and these things alone are enough reason for me to buy this standard version. Thanks devs for this enjoyable game!
Since the HO games nowadays aren't too great I'm replaying older ones I owe. Today is was this story about a mysterious killer who seems impossible to catch, no matter how hard the police tried. I'm writing this review because I really enjoyed myself. Good story, surprising plot developments and thrilling 'till the end. And Richard of course is a treat himself. Thanks Elephant for this Grim Tales series. A real winner for years WITH Richard that is, He was, is and will always be the main reason I'm playing these Gray family stories.
Funny thing is, only recently I started playing the third game in this Enigmatis series called 'The Shadow of Karkhala' released in 2016, don't ask me why I waited all these years, LOL, but it was so good that I became curious about how the earlier two had been. Long story short, today I finished the first one called The Ghosts of Maple Creek and I have to say, it was fantastic. Ok, ok, it lacks the possibility to jump from location to location using the MAP and there are a bit too much HO scenes to my liking but hey folks, this game is from september 2011 so you can more or less expect this. But overall it is a fantastic game with a very good storyline that keeps you curious 'till the end. The graphics also are very good for an oldie like this one. Having all this said there was one thing I really didn't like and that was the music, but that can be muted so not a real problem. Compliments, developers, for this Enigmatis series. I've enjoyed playing it very much and would recommend it to every real HOG lover!
Review based on the demo. With the old MCF games in mind I downloeded the trial and was severely disappointed playing the demo. The story is same old same old: people disappearing from an abandoned hotel. Everything looks depressing. The cold, the colours, the rooms and spaces to look through. And it isn't scary at all. We've seen monsters in all kinds of ugliness. I was bored, really, and depressed. I didn't feel any interest whatsoever to find out the rest, certainly not for a CE price. Pity. I'd expected more from this developer.
