For me, this is the best game of the year. I buy lots of games and after a while, the challenges become fewer and fewer.
But not this beastie. Wow. Excellent puzzles, love the comic book style frames, great challenges, unique storyline, mostly unpredictable. There's the old "missing zipper pull", of course, but other than that, no glitches, no stupid moves, no loss of logic.
Oh, and the demo was just as good as the main game. So good, in fact, that I forgot I was playing a bonus.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing the main game. Good challenge and good story line, good graphics, no stupid stuff, everything one can expect of a well-designed game.
But beware the bonus game. I usually buy the CE's because you get 2 games: the main game and a bonus game.
The Karkhala bonus game makes absolutely no sense, doesn't fit in with the main game story, and has an ending that goes nowhere. Totally weird. Fun to play, but chronologically skewed.
I recommend the main game, for sure. The bonus is a big disappointment.
This game is SO MUCH FUN! There's no given - you don't know what's happened and you have no clue what's going to happen next - but all the answers are universally logical, not relegated only to the mind of the developer.
Clicking on everything is essential because you never know what will be picked up to use later.
The innocuous-looking notes left here and there fill in the intriguing story line, but not directly. They are clues to what is going on, it's up to you to figure it out.
We are given the usual acid recipe, but gathering the ingredients is a fun little trip.

Graphics - fabulous; Game play - INCREDIBLE. Surprises everywhere, ingenuity in every corner, and talk about creativity... Love Chronicles: Beyond the Shadows has it all.
I always buy games by this developer, usually without even playing the demo or watching the trailer. The teams are that good.

This game is full of surprises. The developer is totally buttoned up. It's been a long time since I've seen a game in which the play is so crisp and innovative. Even the HOS have surprises.

I'm sure this game would be far more popular with larger objects. I had to give up because there was no way for me to find everything within the time limits because I couldn't see them properly.
I'd recommend this game for maybe a teenager or someone older who doesn't need glasses.
Kathleen’s beloved Danny has been arrested under strange circumstances and accused of murder. It’s up to Kathleen to hold her own investigation and find out what really happened.

First off, let me say the graphics are really good, particularly in the ice cave.
But, the title has nothing at all to do with the story line and at the end - the game just stops (huhn? but...? who ...?)
Many of the objects are completely misnamed. At one point you receive a drawing of how the cutlery is supposed to be arranged. Cutlery, as in knives, cutting tools. The drawing is for the arrangement of a tea set. It's as if the devs pulled a game off the shelf and sort of revamped it without proofing it.
I'd say get the game on a $2.99 deal or with a coupon, if for nothing else, to have fun figuring out what they really want you to find in the HO scenes.
Developer rock star Isaias Vallejo has gone beyond the call of duty this time, setting himself and his great team a new standard to meet. I wish someone would shoot a video of what it’s like to watch them at work. It must be amazing.
Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed playing the CE and bonus content. Now, there have been plenty of excellent HO/Adventure games in the last couple of years, but The Lost Tides is a real game changer.
As apparently Rite of Passage is going to be a series, I can’t wait for the next installment and have the series on my automatic buy list.
