I bought this game on the strength of other reviews. WHEN will I learn not to do this! So many scenes and I'm thinking ... what? ... 20 minutes of game play to discover I've blown the price of a CE - sorry, I just found it stupid. And Igor as your assistant .. did I say stupid. Thought so. I do not recommend this game.
Bought the CE on the reviews of superior fishies. Obviously I have a completely different mindset.
It was endless jumping from one year to the other, had do use the SG exclusively as there was no rhyme or reason for a lot of time time jumps.
HOS was garbage piles that would not immediately register "clicks", I notice others have mentioned that. Really don't like incomprehensible heaps of rubbish if I have to play HOS.
Graphics were the best thing about this game, which is something of a sad statement, isn't it?
I also expected lots from this game. Being an adventure fan I really thought it would be great, but this was not the case for me. For example, it took me half a dozen tries to make the spoon pick up the powder to make the fire extinguishers. I find that really annoying in a game, where objects that should react have the tiniest reactive "space". There is no excuse for that - it's just plain tiring. The rest of the game - jerky, dull and very one-dimensional. Not for me.
Another great game from these devs - there is really nothing negative about the entire Redemption Cemetery series, and this is no exception. Love the interactive take on the HOS, not your standard heaps of rubbish looking for dentures and butterflies that so many devs resort to. It still makes you think though, it's a bit 'out of the box' where you have to put stuff so there is no free ride. Hard core gamers will relish the challenge of some of them, but not all. Graphics are brilliant, and while the live actors do it well, you can easily pick up that they are not speaking english, a teeny tiny flaw in the grand scheme. Yes the puzzles are kinda easy - at least in the one hour demo, I ran out of time in the middle of a puzzle darn it! Perhaps the puzzles progressively get harder, think I'm gonna have to find out! I much prefer CEs because of the extra game play and the integrated SG, and this looks like a definite buy for me! Well done BF and the developers. Should be more like this game. Great job - well done!!
A new breed of virus has spread throughout the City of Oxford. You must search the city for a missing girl who holds the key to stopping the global epidemic!
This is a great game for the casual thinkers, it's not your basic HOG, and IHOG people - of which there seems to be an increasing number of - will enjoy the interactive HO scenes and the other stuff that we grade "adventure" - gotta love it!. It's a good story, great graphics, VOs good and cut scenes right up there. What's to lose folks? Great game.
Once upon a time in the small, undistinguished town of Silentville people started disappearing. Help uncover the mystery behind these disappearances and save the town from a curse!
I have seen the other reviews of this game and I can only wholeheartedly agree with the scorers at the bottom end of the scale. The devs should have looked at the finished product and either reworked it completely, or scrapped it totally. Wrong to submit it to BFG - hey buddy there are standards here! - and even more wrong for BF to release it. There is so much better out there, seriously.
The initial opening graphics promised a lot, but unfortunately didn't deliver after the opening. The characters are a cross between wooden dolls and cartoons and pull the game down a bit. In this day of technological marvels I really think the developers could have structured them to be more attractive or at least realistic. Three levels of game play, which is common these days, and I think the hard core players will get a lot more out of this game than I did. It is quite complex actually. Some of the game play directions seemed a little illogical to me - I'm thinking "I'm here, looking at this, why would I go back there?" but probably all of us go in different directions at times during game play. The SG stays where you left it last time, and the hint "owl" takes a bit to recharge. There is also a map, showing only where you have been, nothing in advance. The story is interesting enough, some of the dogs are drawn waaay better than others though. Not being too much of a fan of HOGs, I was pleased that every time I turned around I was not presented with another HOS. Of course they are there, they are for the most part interactive, and apart from being a little dark, most of the items are connected with the story, so you don't look for a crown, a set of dentures, and a butterfly, which is good. As an adventure lover, this game is not for me, but on saying that I can see the HOG lovers jumping all over it. So for all the HOG people, I recommend this game. Again, just a pity about the clunky cartoony characters.
This is a very classy game. I was actually going to say "...classy little game" but that does not apply. There is good really good depth to it, the story is a delight, and I enjoy the ability to swap genders [... stop looking Mum, it's a game!] Both characters are fun and their interaction gives the game that extra zing. Oh, almost forgot, there are NO HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES ... YAAAAY!! Sorry, some of us are a bit over HOGs. You still have to find stuff and use stuff in order to progress the story - but as a fun adventure game, this is pure pleasure. Very enjoyable to play, and you smile often. Good job devs. More please sir ...

Bless the devs for this. I am seriously NOT a HOG fan, really, love the adventure stuff - but this one is really different! Your levels of play are Casual, Advanced or Custom. Yes, Custom, you can wind the bar down all the way so that it goes past casual in aaah, easy? Or ramp it up into ridiculously hard perhaps. Nice touch that. Onto the HOG thing. This time you are not clawing through the trash heap finding dentures, an apple, a fork and a butterfly etc, this time the stuff you are looking for in the HOS is stuff you must then use WITHIN the HO scene to complete it. And not just one or two items, ALL of them. How good is that! This game will appeal to the Adventure players because you are going places and doing stuff and that's what we like - the advantage they will also like is that there is actually a POINT in the HOS, so it makes is bearable - yeah, because it has such a different approach. We do tend to like "different" when it comes to our games I think. The story of the virus does make for some grisly graphics at the start - but it's not really something that's all that new. Have to admit, I only played 30 minutes of the demo before exiting and hitting the purchase button, so whether there is more grisley stuff later on I can't tell you, but I can't wait to find out! I can only give four stars after 30 minutes of demo, it would be irresponsible to rate it higher but somehow I think this is going to be one of the really good ones!
I have tried 3 times since buying this game to get through it - sorry it is absolutely incomprehensible to me. Sorted out a few early scenes and then it just got away. Hints are no help at all. I even resorted to going to a mate's place and playing his CE version. Ended up having to use the SG for a step-by-step walk through. That is just so pointless. Way to go for those who liked it, for me it was an absolute waste of time and money.
