For once, I really enjoyed the story line in a game. Loved the way the game moved from area to area; there was plenty of visual candy here. HOS's, puzzles, etc.; everything made this game a real keeper. So glad I purchased it.
My biggest problem with this game was that the graphics in the HOS's were mushy and indistinct, some so blurred that I couldn't tell what they were. I hated the fact that every time I needed an inventory object, I couldn't just mouse over the inventory, I had to actually click to open it. So checking your inventory quickly to see if you needed something in a room wasn't quick. Not having it open on the screen all the time meant that my poor brain kept forgetting what I had. I won't buy this one.
Louis the Clown and Mr. Dudley are back in an all-new adventure! Travel through the dark corners of history's most famous fairytales to rescue children trapped in a frightening netherworld!
Hours and hours of gaming, filled with puzzles and HOS's. Loved trying to thwart the wicked clown's little helper guy. Loved the storyline and the scenery. So much fun in the game that you don't want to stop playing.
After the trial, it seemed that I had found a very challenging game that I would thoroughly enjoy. I thought wrong. This game, had it come with a strategy guide, would have been do-able. Without any help or walkthrough available, it is virtually impossible to play. You are left with an inventory stuffed full of items that don't seem to work ANYWHERE, and no clue as to how you should proceed. I stuck with it for over an hour, with absolutely no progress of any kind. How sad, since this could have really been a great game with some continuity, a few more hidden object scenes, and some puzzles thrown in. Oh well. Win some, lose some.
I would love to have given this game a higher score, because I truly did enjoy the HOS's and the puzzles; however, when I discovered I was missing a candle to conclude the end of the game, I no longer had the ability to find the missing one. The hint button was disabled, and there was no way I could finish without starting all over again. Bummer. Checking the forums, I saw that a lot of gamers had the exact same problem. This game is not so new that the glitch couldn't have been fixed by now.
The HOS's weren't bad. That's the good part of this review. Where was the story? Who was the guy in the scenes that popped in once in a while? Irritating music. I probably wouldn't finish this game if it were free. I only played the 60-minute trial, and then I deleted it without a second thought. I actually liked the first Haunted Hotel, so I really don't get this sequel.
I hesitated before buying this game, but once I started playing, I was really glad I took the plunge. Great storyline, moving very well through the scenes and the plot. I loved the HOS's because they were challenging but not impossible. I used the hint button once in a while, but for the most part, some patience got me through the scenes.
Absolutely loving this game. I haven't finished yet, but I couldn't wait to submit a review and recommend this as a favorite for me. The seek-and-finds, the HOS's, the puzzles, the storyline, the scenes, and even the voice-over (think I recognize the voice) all combine to make this a fascinating, intriguing game for me.
This is one of those games that I am so glad I bought. I got so much enjoyment out of the story, the HOS's, the puzzles, and the beautifully designed graphics. Excellent game.
First, the good: Lovely scenes and HOS's. Pretty okay puzzles, and a good storyline. Good effects. Sadly, the scenes were not fully used, and other than HO's and a very few places where you get to use something to complete a scene, most of it was wasted. Very short game. I would NOT have spent my money on this had I known how little enjoyment I would get from it.
