It’s up to you, a descendant of the ancient emperor, to collect powerful artifacts and save the world. Dive into the whirlpool of thrilling mysteries to unlock the secrets of ancient power!
Outdated and boring. Scenes are slow to buffer. The main character's voice is irritating, and he talks way too much. I did find the graphics to be unusual and interesting, with the objects in the HOS being quite well camouflaged -- moderately challenging but not all that difficult to find. Ultimately, it was the main character's voice-overs that did me in. I couldn't stand one more syllable!
I don't recommend this game.

Strange Cases: The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake
Discover the Secrets of Grey Mist Lake! FBI Agent Claire Ellery has discovered another Strange Case and she needs your help!
Professor Ashmore, the same man who so kindly took you in and raised you as his own has been murdered. It’s up to you to find out why, but are you prepared for what truths may be uncovered?
I might be the only one who liked the morphing objects in the HOS. I didn't think they were hard to spot at all. There were also a few interactive items in the HOS.
The graphics were interesting. I especially liked the stars that twinkled in front of the clouds!
I happily played the demo for about 40 minutes before I realized I was actually quite bored. I can't really say why I found it so. Maybe just too much of the same old thing? Maybe it wasn't moving the story along fast enough? Or maybe I'm just tired.
At any rate, I do recommend you try this one, especially since it's a CE that was released as an SE.
Had I realized this game would involve so much steam punk and mechanical engineering I would not have bought it, but it wasn't that which made it so boring for me... it was a combination of the story (which started out well but deteriorated following the demo), the silhouette and fragmented object HOGs, plus the heroine's constant praise of the mechanical crow helper -- the same phrases over and over and over again, which might not seem like a big deal, but after a while, I wanted a padlock for her mouth.
The hints and skips do refill quickly, however, much of the time the map was more helpful than the hints. If you do get this game, I suggest using the map instead of following the directional hints.
Thankfully, I got the game on a 50% off sale. I would not recommend getting it except as a DD, COTW or BOGO sale.
I am so glad I gave this game a try in spite of the somewhat fairytale milieu, which is usually not my cuppa. I only had to play 15 or 20 minutes of the demo to know I wanted to play the entire game. I even played most of the puzzles, and as I've said many times before, I really, really don't like puzzles.
I'm sure there are plenty of detailed reviews in the CE thread, but I do want to say that I encountered no problems other than the occasional pixel hunt. I loved the story and the characters, the graphics were excellent, the HOGs and mini-games were of a nice variety, and a good resolution in the end.
I don't usually go for cute little animal helpers, but the kitten helper in this one was really cute, you don't need to use him very often, and it didn't talk, thank goodness!
This will be a game that I'll play again. Thanks AM and BFG.
Four stars only because I thought it ran a bit long with some unnecessary things to do in the last chapter when I really wanted to hurry and get to the place to defeat the evil guy!
Disappointing. Only one HOS in the 40 minutes that I played of the demo. And I must say, as long as the puzzle skip button takes to refill in easy mode, I don't even want imagine how long it would take to refill in the harder mode.
It was impossible to guess what to do next without the hint. The hint tells you where you need to go and also will take you there. There is also a map.
I found a few of the items you need to pick up or to place require clicking on the exact pixel or it won't work.
I won't be buying this one.
I don't recommend this game.

Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love
After the Raven Queen crashes her wedding, Thumbelina must save her prince to reclaim her happy ending!
I agree that it is a pretty game with decent graphics, but I quit the demo about halfway through, because I was just plain bored.
The story involves a shrieking Bad Witch (yawn) and a Precious Princess Without a Brain as heroine. It's possible to get rid of the Princess's endless black bar comments.by switching to intermediate mode, but in that mode you don't get the jump map info that shows you where your tasks are.
The music was incredibly irritating. The sound track was one of the most annoying I've encountered. Many of the puzzles didn't make sense. It wasn't that they were hard... the directions were not clear. After several trials, I still couldn't figure out what I needed to do.
This game is pure pink cotton candy. In spite of that, I might have made it through the entire demo if I hadn't been so everlastingly bored. Not a buy for me, even at $2.99 or as a BOGO.
You've returned from school to visit your father at his famous Jazz Pepper Club during Mardi Gras, but everyone is hypnotized. Have they heard the wrong note?
Once again, I am baffled by all the excellent reviews.
Another reviewer, Tauret, said it all for me, so I'm taking the liberty of including this quote in my review. "The main problem is that I got bored. The story had promise, though the theme is nothing new, but the execution just didn’t hold my interest. I didn’t like that so many of the inventory items are + items that you have to do something with them before you can use them in a scene. I don’t mind one of two of these, but not one after another after another. The mini-games I encountered were way too simplistic and I am no Super Duper Mini-Gamer. I also didn’t like the way the map functioned."
I played about 35 minutes of the demo before giving up for all of the reasons above, plus the first (and only) HOS I encountered was confusing until I caught on to what it was about... retrieving music notes. That's all it was... replace an object or move an object and the reward was a music note. What purpose they served, I have no clue..
There's way too much talking, and I guess the devs thought we would be pleased to listen to a singer all the way through one cut scene. Fortunately, cut scenes are skippable.
The map was a pure loser. Not transporting exactly, but you give the taxi driver the address and then ride to the next location. It reminded me of the really old games where you complete one location at a time.
The only good thing I have to say about this game is that you do have the option to customize the refill length of the hint and skip buttons.
I don't recommend this game.

Dark Dimensions: Somber Song
Townspeople flee as the black smoke covers their town. Can you close the dark dimension, before it's too late?
Intricate, complex play in a very slow-moving game. I would never have made it through the demo without the help of the the interactive map and the hint button, which is actually a piano.
There's quite a bit of foreshadowing to convey some kind of nefarious goings-on either before, during or after the fire. However, the teases were not enough to overcome the boredom. I would hope the rest of the game is not just following around after a black cloud of smoke.
Every HOG during the demo was the progressive type, and that also started to get old, particularly as it was never quite clear what the next step should be. I thought it made the HOGs more tedious than fun. Better to have a mix of types instead of the same kind over and over again.
The puzzles are simple, other than all the going back and forth to collect the various parts -- tiles and so forth -- needed to complete them. Even I could finish most of them.
There is no option to customize the level of difficulty or the length of hint and skip refills -- a definite negative for me since I don't like puzzles and want to skip them as quickly as possible.
I didn't find anything in this game to make it stand out from the rest. A tragic story, missing piano keys, magnet drops, fish net retrievals, glass shards, distract the cat, etc. etc. etc. At least you don't have to repair the ladder!
I purchased after finishing the demo, because (a) I enjoyed the demo and thought it would be a good game, and (b) I forgot that this dev has been steadily going downhill from their former pinnacle of excellence.
Unfortunately, the remainder of the game after the demo is tortuously boring, convoluted, baffling, and just plain silly. I am not anxious to finish it, but maybe taking a break for a few days will help.
