I played the entire demo trying to figure out what I was doing, where to go, who was who, etc., and constantly clicking the hint button which most of the time only led to further confusion.
We have at least two stories very poorly mushed together -- (1) rescue your children from some kind of evil man in an iron mask and (2) simultaneously solve mysteries which may or may not be crimes, and which, up until the end of the demo at least, may or may not be related to the plight of your children.
There is a dead man who speaks with you. He doesn't know that he's dead, and neither do you. Clearly you are in a time warp, riding a ghost train which makes stops and allows you to get off into locations in the past. You immediately become a crack detective, complete with crime kit and evidence board. Somehow your character is unable to see the incongruity of her situation.
There are things to like about this game if you can get past the cockeyed story and figure out what to do without wearing out the hint button. I could not, so it won't be a buy for me.

This game features a tiger that flies... a "Flying Tiger." Bwhahahahaha!!!
I don't much like games with princesses and castles and dragons and spells, but I decided to try this one since there's not much else going on of the SE variety.
The main positive for me was the interesting, clear artwork.
The one HOS I encountered before quitting the demo was well done and not that easy, as two or three of the items were very well hidden, and I was forced to use a couple of hints. Puzzles all were the usual things, but I dislike puzzles and habitually skip them. I played on the casual level, and it seemed the skip button filled in about 30 or 40 seconds. The hints fill in about the same amount of time. I also liked that the inventory locks open. Yea!
The main negative for me was the story... a rehash of Sleeping Beauty, Briar Rose, The Princess on the Glass Mountain, and every other tale of a princess needing to be rescued. <yawn>
But that said, I think this game is worth a try, especially if you like the genre.
I recommend this game!

I had high hopes for this game, but the abundance of voiceovers has done me in. Although I did turn the sound down, there is no way I could take any more of Leonardo's booming blah-blah-blah. (Yes, he really does boom in all volumes, and so does the Mage.)
Also, the action seemed frenetic and frenzied to me. Between mechanical beasts and contraptions flying, flipping and flapping, facts about Leo popping up on the screen in a red scrawl, and the constant blah-blah-blah, I'm feeling exhausted.
Some will like it and some won't. I don't.

JUST GOOD ENOUGH

BASED ON DEMO ONLY: This seems to be one of the best of the offerings we've had lately, at least for me. Playing on the easiest level, the hint and skip buttons filled quickly enough, although I do wish this developer would give players a choice of custom settings as some others have done. I did run across a couple of mini-games that gave no instruction nor could they be skipped, but those were straightforward enough to figure out what to do.
I thought the game was a bit clunky at times, especially following the cut scenes.
I think some fishies will find this game too easy for their tastes, but I'm happy to have a game that doesn't involve fairies, talking piggy banks, nor HOS that cause me to go blind looking for objects.
I recommend this game!

i didn't even last long enough to finish the demo! I found this to be an awkwardly conceived and unintuitive game. At least one mini-game could not be skipped. I had to repeatedly use the hint button, and the constant black bar comments -- "Well, that didn't work." -- were extremely annoying even though I had turned them off in the custom options. Plus there is a short click-error penalty in the HOS. This is not a game I would ever buy.
I don't recommend this game.

The lag time between scenes was annoying, the same music was used on the first two games. i was actually quite bored with this game
I found the HOS to be grainy and difficult to find the objects, and as usual with this developer, there are mistranslations. I was trying to figure out what a "printed" was when the demo suddenly ended -- bam! -- and my screen went black.
I hate stupid gimmicks. In this game, it's a magic violin that chases away the evil "shadows." You know it's time to use it when it lights up and glows.
There is no map that I could find. The skip button fills quickly enough although I would prefer it to be instantaneous! Ha! It seemed like the hint button took a little longer.
This one won't be going on my "maybe" list. It's going in the trash.

If you read the reviews in the CE forum, you will read a lot of negative comments about the imp. I happen to love the little guy! He is one of the very few cute helpers I do like, and I wish he had been given more to do in The Ties That Bind.
I bought the SE version with a CC and wish I hadn't. Each of the Witch's Legacy games has been progressively not as good as the previous one. The Ties That Bind isn't a terrible game, but it isn't a very good one either. The story is silly. There are a lot of mistakes. For example, in Part 2 of the jump map, the map key is reversed from what it should be.
I didn't like Lynn running the show and telling me what to do. In fact, I really haven't liked Lynn's personality in either this or the last installment.
I won't buy another Witch's Legacy game if there is one, and I hope for everyone's sake there is not.

With 15 minutes of the demo left, I gave it up, utterly bored with the whole thing, especially after entering the second "detective mode" piece of gimmicky foolishness.
The game is definitely NOT HOS heavy, rather it is puzzle/ mini-game heavy. The skip button takes exactly 60 seconds to fill in the easiest mode, and there is no custom option to shorten the wait time.
For those who don't like HOS, you can play mahjong instead. (Why is there never any option to play mahjong if you don't like puzzles and mini-games?)
I'm not sure of all the reasons I found the game so boring, but maybe it was simply because the whole thing seemed to be so very contrived.
Sorry, BFG. I won't be buying this one.
I don't recommend this game.

LEFT ME COLD

I don't understand all the positive and/or semi-positive reviews of this game.
It is one of the slowest moving games I've ever demoed. The cut scenes are in slooow motion, possibly an attempt to create an eerie atmosphere, or maybe simply because the devs thought ice giants should move verrry slowly. However, you can skip the cut scenes if you lose patience, which I did. Also, the screen goes dark while transitioning between locations, and these, too, take an overly long time.
The dialogue is stilted and unnatural. There is no voiceover.
There seems to be no logical rationale for solutions to tasks, for example, your character says, "If I had a spear, I could open this door." Really? A spear? Wouldn't a crowbar work even better? And you are constantly having to find various ways to melt ice! Lots and lots of ice.
Unfortunately, an interesting story line was ruined by the plodding action. I wouldn't waste a PCC on this game, and it definitely wouldn't be worth the price.
I don't recommend this game.

The "90-minute" demo ended with 30 minutes to spare. You can do the math.
What's up with the "spirit collector" gimmick? Every new location, you have to play a mini-game to find five ghosts with your magical collector ring. This mini game can neither be skipped, nor are hints available to help locate the ghosts. Once you have all five ghosts, you get a cut scene. This is a total waste of time that slows down game play.
You also have an evidence board. As you collect evidence, you stick it up on the board. This is apparently another mini game, because you get connecting red lines when each piece of evidence is correctly placed. Another tactic to lengthen the game.
I didn't get far enough along to be able to start the puppet show. Oh, snap.
Sorry, BF. You couldn't give this game to me.
I don't recommend this game.
