However I am really writing this review just because of one of the cutest things I have seen. There is a mailbox in the wall and we are to glue a stamp on an envelope and then feed it to the mailbox.
There are two stamps, one is cheese and one is a chili pepper - I am pretty sure that no matter which one you try first he will not like it.
He goes through the machinations of what I guess would be best described as 'YECH!' (icky) where he chews up and spits out the envelope. So much talent went into illustrating this almost human expression. It was shocking!
(ok maybe you had to be there). I was and I laughed out loud literally - LOLL!
Very nice game - I really enjoyed it and played the whole game in one day. I am glad I decided to purchase it based on the trials for both Standard and Collectors.
(and glad I didn't bypass it because the reviews for the standard) were lukewarm (less than 4).
Ironic that today is Halloween and one of the main things that sets this game at 5 stars in my mind, is how really scary those weird bat-ghost things are that come out of everywhere! LOL!
The sounds were far and away SCARY! Very OTHER-WORDLY.
It even has vague elements that remind of the puppet show series which i consider artistically superior to almost everything on earth.
;o)
I recommend this game!

PuppetShow: Lightning Strikes Collector's Edition
The women of Paris are being turned into puppets! Can you find out who's pulling the strings?
It seems to have been so long since the last Puppet Show game! It's actually silly how excited I get when I see there is a new one.
In addition to the ingenious and beautiful artwork, even the music is superior to most games. Usually I just tolerate the music or even turn off my speakers but for Puppet Show I love the music and it is always a big part of the experience.
I get a real kick out of the little diabolical and humorous touches that are always a part of the Puppet Show games.
Thanks for making my day, Felix + ERS - this is definitely a keeper and I can't wait to play the whole thing!
A strange and deadly pollen is spreading around the world, and you've been hired to track down its source. But the secrets you discover in the fabled kingdom of Floralia are much darker than you imagined...
I bought the SE and just finished it. As usual I was seduced by the beautiful artwork, which brings a welcome sensual environment to my dreary home office days.
The problems for me are at least two-fold. First of all there are too many HOS - it seems the whole story-line is very little more than going from one HOS to the other. I prefer more things to do that are other than HOS (or frustrating mini-games).
In this same regard, I do not really like the HOS where you have to find fragments - except maybe on an occasional basis; however the beautiful scenes and objects are delightful.
I do like to see a little variation in the HOS which this also doesn't have - for example where you have little mini-tasks to put things together to create the object listed, and other variations, etc.
I guess I am already spoiled by the interactive maps in some games - rather surprised there are not more though by this time as quite a few newer games still do not allow transporting which I feel largely negates the beauty of having a map in the first place. This game did not have a useful map at all - in fact not even to show objectives that I could catch.
Plus I can't believe Rapunzel blew off her man for her weird sister. Forgive her, yes - as she was a beautiful person and that would be an appropriate skill - However I would have liked to see a much happier ending...
I just bought the game and I am so glad I did. This teaches me that even when I am not overly impressed with the trial maybe it is just my mood that day.
It is really well-done on the graphics and artwork, I like the way it smoothly transitions from one area to another
I understand it is part of a 'set' - so I will get the other sequels in the Haunted Hotel.
I had to stop playing the trial after about 10 minutes because every single scene is so dark that I can barely see it unless I want to stand up at my PC.
I really don't think having everything so dark that you can't see it lends a single thing to the 'scariness' or 'mystery' -
If you want real people to play the game you need to make it at least a little 'user friendly'.
That issue over shadowed any other concept or function of this game -
You've returned from school to visit your father at his famous Jazz Pepper Club during Mardi Gras, but everyone is hypnotized. Have they heard the wrong note?
This game was totally fun because it was so different than 9 out of 10 games. Not different enough to be confusing but just in that you don't know exactly how things will work and it takes a little thought to get it going. Very creative approach.
I just wish they showed all the zombied out Mardi Gras people when they came back to life which you can only assume they do!
Years ago, Empress of the Deep was one of the first games I bought - and I loved it because the art is just out of this world - top drawer, beautiful, classical art - These are really pros.
However, I would say this game would be even more fun with an interactive map. As well the hints are pretty abstract - 'go to the railing by the gate' - what gate? There are a ton of different scenes and areas and you can get pretty lost! Oh! THAT gate!?! ;o)
.. but no matter- the game's art and story are just so fantastic that I will just have to step up and not be lazy about having to work a little harder!
Keep on keeping on Silverback Productions! Looking forward to Empress Number 4! ;o)
Louis the Clown and Mr. Dudley are back in an all-new adventure! Travel through the dark corners of history's most famous fairytales to rescue children trapped in a frightening netherworld!
I loved this game - I have the Weird Park: Broken Tunes game and I love it too. ... and in fact I didn't know there were more Weird Park games - so I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw Scary Tales on sale!
I wasn't at all disappointed. Fun game with cool art, etc. Really scary characters! (eeek)
I really enjoyed everything about this game. It is one of those that has enough substance that I know I will play it several more times in the future. The artwork is beautiful.
I loved the baby griffin and all the other fantastic creatures and can't wait to see them all again.
