OK, I did finish it just because the game play itself was... well, okay, nothing more than that. Nothing new actually, but entertaining yet enough. But this voice of the detective!! Wherever did they get this? It is terrible. It also made me quit and delete the whole thing. #fail
The other personages were not very much interesting either - very flat and onedimensional. And it is not very long game either.
I don't recommend this game.

Hmm. I did finish the whole game, which means I did not find it too silly to quit beforehand. Some puzzles were original, really, like the pigeon-comparing puzzle (not the usual find-two-of-the-same-picture, but find two pigeons that move the same way).
For the rest of it, I wasn't too happy. Had to use the hint too much because it wasn't logical where to go next. Could not use a sword or a knife to cut something but was forced to find something else that was sharp. Sloppy thinking by the designers.
The story itself and the characters were not too bright to my taste. Not convincing anyway.
So my conclusion is: it's all right too pass a dull evening, but if you're really planning on spending some money, there are lots of better games really.
I don't recommend this game.

Somehow, I was glad I finished this game. The story was quite allright, if only a bit farfetched: famous people of alle eras together in a fictional world, regarding each other as friends ('oh, you are a friend of Leo's' - meaning Leonardo da Vinci, who speaks with a ridiculous accent) but being out of their time, of course, so you have to visit several ancient scenes to find parts of a magical amulet.
The graphics, however, were disappointing. I have seen more crisp, detailed, lifelike graphics in other games.
Also, the gameplay itself was not very challenging. If I needed something, I would find it quite quickly. Sometimes it was made a little bit harder: having to undertake two actions and some walking up and down before finding the essential object, but still it was quite a coincidence to find just the thing you needed in an unexpected scene.
It was nog enough to quit playing, though. So therefore I'll grant this game 3 stars. Still, I prefer graphics to be less obviously computer-made and more like being drawn.
I recommend this game!

I REALLY enjoyed this game!
- It was quite long, there were several chapters;
- The story, though the beginning did not seem too special (world in danger... great evil... prophecy etc), really got to me, and in the end I was really excited to see how it would end;
- The scenes were beautiful, every time I entered a new one I first looked around quite a while before doing anything;
- It was challenging enough (I played in Expert mode), the HOS and the storyline itself (trying to figure out where to go now);
- Even the cutscenes were to my liking: not too much or too slick, but beautifully done.
I recommend this game!

I really liked this game. First, the storyline is done very well. You have to revisit earlier worlds (from the last Nevertales Game) but still these worlds are somewhat different. The twists in the end are surprising enough, too.
The graphics are amazing. Yes, it takes a while to load sometimes, but it is worth it, I think. Some scenes were not only breathtaking but also really exciting.
The extras in this CE are - and this is about the first time you'll hear me say it - worth it, too. The bonus game is OK, not too exciting though. Having to fight a final battle by memory games is not my idea of a grand finale. But in this CE version, in the regular game you can find pieces of a puzzle in every scene. If you did not find them all, you can still do so in an extra game - just revisit those scenes and find them, and combine these pieces into something new.
There are also morphing objects to find (which is not my strongest part) and hidden treasures. Same as with the puzzle pieces - you can find the missing ones afterwards and earn the hidden (extra) scenes to play. All of this kept me from immediately deleting the game after completing it.
Wonderful game, Much love in the making.
I recommend this game!

The storyline was intriguing at the start. So was the gameplay. But the further I got in the game, the more irritated I became. Quite some puzzle explanations are insufficient, I just could not figure out how to do it exactly. The only thing I can do then is skip the puzzle.
The characters became less believable too, and some storylines are set up but not really finished. The end seemed a bit bungled to me.
I was actually glad when it ended. That's a pity, this could have worked out much better than that...
I don't recommend this game.

The story itself and the gameplay first grabbed me. But with the game going further, I encountered more and more puzzles of which I did not understand what to do with them. The explanation was quite short and the only thing I could do was try (trial and error) and sometimes discovering what I had to do.... or skip.
The story itself also deteriorated during the game. In the end, I lost the storyline. So I skipped a few puzzles more and ended it. Hum, hum. Not satisfying.
I don't recommend this game.

Hmmm. I wonder why this game received so many happy reviews. Actually, I found the graphics - that is, especially the people in it - rather... simple. The scenes look better, sometimes quite realistic, but they're still a bit... simple.
Yes, the game takes some time and there are quite some scenes to discover, and the extra feature of finding dubloons with which you can repair your ship is... well, simple, and maybe funny for some.
I did finish it and not just leave the game. But after all, I would not have bought it, had I known all this.
I don't recommend this game.

Finally, a game that fits together well. This had been made with love and attention. The story is interesting and unfolds while you play; the music fits perfectly (and is great); the scenes are well done, as well as the characters; there is enough challenge; even the puzzles (minigames) are done in style, and are original.
LOVED this. An absolute buy!

As usual, this Edgar Allan Poe game is just fine. There are enough scenes to discover and explore, the story unfolds during the game, and the ending is something you already thought so (which is not a bad thing in this case).
I liked the extra feature of photographs you found, having to find the location it was taken - only then something extra appeared to be explored. These were always spots in a scene of which I already thought something should be done or found there - but at first, there wasn't, until I found the photograph.
I was less taken by this story than by the previous ones, somehow. Events following each other were not always logical, and in the gameplay I sometimes had to go somewhere for a HOG when there was no reason whatsoever else to go there.
Another thing that puzzled me was the extra feature of these miniature houses in which you have to search for coins. It's quite silly, really, and there seems to be something I can do with those coins in a completely different game area (something like the achievement room), which did not interest me at all - I just wanted to continue the story and the gameplay.
That is why I give this game 3 stars - would be 3 and a half if possible. Fine game though.
I recommend this game!
