I missed this game when it was released, and am sorry I didn't get to play it sooner! This is exactly what the title says: a scary campfire story to keep you on the edge of your seat. The game is mostly hidden objects, and they are pretty difficult (which I like). You may have to search several areas for the items you need. The games aren't too hard but enjoyable. Many "scary" games on BFG, both SE and CE, could learn from this developer. As soon as I finished I bought the other 2 Campfire Legend games. Highly recommended if you enjoy a good thrill!

I'm amused by the reviews that say this game is "too dark". It's Phantasmat people, it's supposed to be creepy and dark!! It delivers in the spooky, creepy, macabre theme of Phantasmat. This is a very good addition to the series, just misses being 5 stars. It has some new minigames that I liked ( and I play a lot of HOPAs) , good HOs. It's a decent length for a CE. The villian was a bit weak, however, and the bonus game rushed and predictable. Overall, though, a fun game for those of use who enjoy dark games.

Now this had the potential to be a really good SE, but there are so many gaps and illogical things that it misses. The plot isn't new, but interesting twist on having to enter several different people's dreams to piece together the story. The plot was going along fine until the supposed evil spirit who has been attacking me suddenly becomes my helper. huh? Then there are the sloppy things: I need to get a pot tied up high (who ties pots up high in gazebos?) to collect water when there is a pitcher sitting on the floor. I wreck my car deliberately to bust down a wall and then suddenly am concerned that I may have stranded myself. I can handle a boiling pot of water without protection but can't pour oil out of a oil lamp without cooling it down. You get the idea. The games are pretty basic but I liked them. The HOs are good. I usually play CEs so missed having morphs and collectibles, I'm a little surprised there wasn't a CE version also. There is a ridiculous "lexicon" attempting to explain psychiatric terms that reads like a very bad college composition. Devs, save your "philosophy" for something else. There are irritating "helpful comments" that you can't turn off which are insultingly obvious. "The door is locked I need a key" type of comments throughout the game. I got this with a "free game" credit which tempers my disappointment with the game. I recommend it with reservations: as a daily deal or free game, not worth full price.

I know the Haunted Hotel series has settled into a pattern, and that happens to most series, but the earlier games were so much better. This games suffers from the inclusion of the clicheed possessed little girl (yawn),the clicheed giant evil eye (yawn), the clicheed portal to a evil world (yawn), saving my partner from a curse (again), and run of the mill minigames I've played in other games. The morphs are really obvious. There is no creepiness to the game. Some of the "monsters" are actually kinda cute. The "terrifying" skeleton creatures have a bad case of the twitches and look like you could knock them over with a poke from a small stick. The boss evil spirit is no more than a head sitting on what looks like antlers (probably the reason for his bad mood). And who knew? All that is needed to defeat him is one of those restaurant discs that lights up when your table is ready (at least that's what it looks like). I have only bought the latest Haunted Hotels at sale price. I would feel very ripped off had I paid more.

I enjoyed this game so much I am already looking forward to the next one! This is a mature, macabre thriller for adults only. Rarely can I say that one of these games keeps me so interested I don't want to stop playing, I want to find out the outcome. This is one of the few. This is a job very well done, great games, morphs are good too. This game has a creepy atmosphere like the best MCF Ravenhearst games. Enough said.

This game could be any of the recent mystery games. Same old same old games and puzzles other than the complex multi puzzles. The plot is terrible and poorly put together, not well developed at all. Wow, never encountered a evil mirror world before (sarcasm). The "price" exacted by the evil spirit is ridiculously lame. I don't know about you but I am so tired of the same old presentation of the evil spirit/being. Message to all devs: runny black makeup around characters eyes and mouth is NOT SCARY in the least. Nor are blank red or black eyes. And you can't think of another name than "Shade"? done to death. Go back and play the early Ravenhearsts/Madame Fates if you want a good MCF game.

First of all, what talent is being punished? This whole game is poorly put together, plot is poorly developed. Minigames are the usual, ho hum. HOS scenes are annoying because you must click on the exact millimeter of the object to get it.
More disconnect:
I'm a respected criminology professor at a University (how unusual- students in danger at a university), but my student helper is dressed like a nurse and a complete airhead.
I have amazing injections that reverse deathly conditions instantly.
This game is not spooky, creepy or frightening in the least. You never feel like the characters are in danger, the "villian" goes out of the way to make sure they survive until I find them (and I have my amazing injections). Girls live in a fraternity, and apparently all my students are female. My brother is inexplicably named "Violin" The reason behind the villian's actions is never fully explained/developed and doesn't really make sense.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
Ugh, when looking for a good creepy macabre Halloween game, play Halloween Chronicles- the monsters among us. Not this one.

I have liked some of the games in this series before, but they are extremely predictable as in storyline, games, HOS, etc. This one was annoying to the extreme, as every time you change scenes, even to zero on an area, you get an advertisement for one of the other games. This totally killed any enjoyment in the game as I was forced to stare at a promotional "poster" for several seconds. I admit I couldn't finish the game this annoyed me so much. And even more the game had artwork, references to past games. Get over yourselves, devs!
Storyline- evil puppets, wow- NEVER seen that before! Someone from another dev team moonlighting, perhaps?
Skip this one, I regret even paying half price for it.

This game is based on the original MCF games, straight HOS with morphing objects and super puzzles to unlock doors. Being a Ravenhearst/MCF "super fan", I really liked this game. If you are looking for the more modern game with a complex storyline you probably won't like this, this is for Ravenhearst/MCF diehards.
However, the devs missed a few things that would have made this a 5 star game:
1.The typewriter sound for a found object 2. expected more difficulty from the ending puzzle
SPOILER ALERT if you read on:
3. The characters chosen to return: half of them were a a head scratching choice. Boring characters from recent games (the boy, the ghost chaser) instead of major characters from older, better games? What is the fascination with Alison? Quit including that uninteresting character in these games. No Madame Fate? And allies instead of villians/victims, makes no sense. 4. The bonus game could have used a little more ingenuity.
Again, this game will probably only appeal to those who have played MCF from the beginning games.

I couldn't believe it when the game was suddenly over. Seems like a game that was rushed into production. Could have been much better with some more work, more content. Do not buy at full price or you will feel cheated. Did not like seeing the poor cats shivering in the snow, note to devs: cats find warm places, they don't just sit out in the open. What do you have against cats? Didn't like the obvious collectibles of Elf dressed up and the picture fragments. The morphs were also obvious as they were on warp speed. Not what I expected from a Mystery Trackers game.
