This is one of my favorite Eipix series, because the settings are beautiful and they don't give away the villain right away. The graphics range from clean lines to elaborate Baroque. There are plenty of scenes, good adventure, soothing music, decent voice-overs, and interesting storyline.
Puzzles range from easy to challenging, and are attractively presented. HOs vary but traditional fans won't be disappointed. Twelve morphs are in HOs. .
Each scene has a hidden grape cluster, 38 in all. You can retrieve any missed ones in Extras. Adventure is straightforward with a few inventory items used in novel ways.
CE bling includes the Souvenir Room (a mini-collectible hunt), replayable HOs & puzzles, Collectibles (grapes), achievements, and the usual.
Main game is about 4+ hours in hard mode, the bonus game about 1.5 hrs. The bonus game carries the story a little further.
Is it worth a CE? Well...yeah. If you like Eipix' CE bling, it is. If you're lukewarm on that, the SE is fine. I like to extend my playing time with favorite devs, so I was happy with the CE.
Deep Shadows is a dev I don't see much, though I have played Tales of Terror games before. This is a much better game than previous ones, with a great sinister story and increasingly challenging puzzles.
Graphics, scenery, number of scenes, unobtrusive music, interesting characters, plot twists and adventure are all plusses in this game. Don't get me started on people complaining horror games are too dark. If you want a murder mystery set in a McDonald's playground, you'll have to wait.
Puzzles & HOs are about even, and HOs have morphs. Puzzles range from easy to challenging, and a lot I haven't seen before. Traditional HO fans will be very pleased. Adventure level is decent, though sometimes the devs make a Herculean effort to make things obvious. (PUT THE ANGEL HERE-glow, glow, glow!)
There are 36 chalk drawings to find, and you can't go back to find missed ones in Extras. Morphs end up putting eyes in dolls in Extras. Get them all and you get a key, but I couldn't figure out what it was for. Other bling includes achievements and the usual.
Main game is about 4-5 hours in hard mode, and bonus game about 1 hr.
Is it worth a CE? If you love horror-mystery games with good puzzles, I say yes. There was enough originality and challenge in this game, I'd give it a 4.5 rating.
Getting an MCF game in March is like Christmas in July. Eipix showed out with great puzzles, scenery, cutscenes, story, music, characters, and voice-overs. I actually went back to review the cutscenes-I never do that. Nor do I usually follow the story closely, but this one pulled me in hard.
Eipix skillfully wove a melancholy, creepy environment with music & sound effects, and eerie artwork. The villain was more like Hitchcock's "banality of evil" type, than the usual cowled "bwah-ha-ha" kook.
Adventure was A+ with multiple scenes, less linear play, and none of the trite tasks we come to dread. HOs were interesting w/o being cluttered, and contain morphs. Traditional HO fans will be pleased.
For you puzzlers, Super Puzzles are everywhere, and clever, entertaining and challenging. Mini-puzzles are usually much simpler.
Puzzle pieces are in every scene; collect them all and get a new wallpaper. CE bling also includes the Trophy Room (a mini-collectible hunt), replayable puzzles & HOs, achievements (some are quirky, read them before you play), and the usual.
The main game lasts 4-5 hrs in hard mode, the bonus game about an hour. The latter is more of a prequel.
Is it worth a CE? Definitely yes. There was a lot of effort put into making this game more compelling, original and challenging. Plus the bling will extend your playtime. And yes,it's better than MCF:Broken Hour. Hope that helps.
Jetdogs Studio offers this little gem, with a haunting storyline, haunted house theme, and good straight adventure. Puzzles are without instructions but not hard to figure out. HOs are interactive but well lit and illustrated.
It's short, about 3 hours, but very enjoyable. The graphics and animation are excellent too. Lots of creepy characters and scenes. If you like haunted mysteries, snap this one up.
Despite being touted as an ERS game, the dev was identified as AMAX Interactive. Dunno why. The story was a bit jumbled, but I don't follow stories closely anyway.
The adventure challenge, puzzles and HOs were okay, nothing innovative or new. Too much chatter for my taste, though others may disagree. Lots of keys & zipper pulls.
There are achievements & a few character collectibles. Collect them all and you get bonus HO games. It has the usual CE bling. The bonus game carries the main story a bit further. Main game is about 4 hours in "no skip, no hint" mode, and bonus about 1.5 hours in same.
Is it worth a CE? Not really. Unless there's a half price sale. It's just not that compelling.

Blue Brain is one dev I haven't played before, but will be looking out for. I loved the adventure part, and traditional HO fans will be pleased too. (None are re-used).
The storyline is easy to follow and has mystery to it. The jump map indicates areas of interest even in hard mode. Puzzles run from familiar to new & clever.
I used a credit but this one is worth the money. It's nice & long too. Try it!

What a great lil sleeper of a game! Very much into adventure and lots to do in each scene. Great haunted house atmosphere, good graphics, unintrusive music, good story kept simple, what's not to like?
Love, love, love the Russian-accented English and English with Russian syntax. It made it fun, not wearying. I give them props for trying to do American idiomatic speech. Yeah, some of the names of things in HO scenes were wacky, but it didn't bother me. Kinda cute.
I used a credit for this, but I'd gladly spend the money, and also play it again. If you like haunted houses and lots of adventure, snap this one up.
Do you like puzzles? I do, but if you don't it's going to be a short game for you. Eipix went all out with SuperPuzzles this time.
The down-low: lots of beautifully illustrated scenes, 42 or more scenes, good music & haunted house atmosphere even though it's ostensibly a murder mystery, and challenging gameplay. The story was okay with a loophole or two, and too much dialogue for my taste.
Awesome SuperPuzzles! Plus regular ones that challenge you. HOs were nicely varied with new twists, but traditional HO fans will be pleased too. There's a real journal too.
Morphing objects are in every scene, ladybugs in every HO, and new achievements that differ from Eipix' usual fare. (Read them before you start play).
CE bling includes replayable puzzles & HOs, ability to go back to find missing morphs & bugs, and playing a puzzle to open up bling. Plus a "find the dev" souvenir room that's kinda cute.
Some have said there's "something missing" despite being a great game. I kinda like the first two Ravenhearst games too, but that theme is played out, so on to more original stories, right?
The main game is Yuge, about 6-7hrs in hard mode. The bonus game is a prequel, at about 1 hr. Most of my time was spent on puzzles. The usual CE bling is included, along with the above mentioned.
Is it worth a CE? Yeah, I believe it, plus it's worth replaying. The combination of excellent production values, bling, adventure challenge, tons of puzzles (included in bonus game), and atmosphere make this worth it.
Now, I love trains and Elephant Games. But neither can boost this MT game into a 5 star rating for reasons I'm about to tell you. The good part is nice graphics and scenery, good voice overs, smooth gameplay, excellent puzzles and somewhat interesting HOs.
The storyline is kind of silly. Okay, there's the guys in the heavy red cowls, smashing up the dining car, probably because they ran out of red velvet cake. Then the guy who's sucking the paranormal powers out of kids to rule the world. I'm ready to throw up my hands and walk the dogs.
There are superpuzzles, and regular ones, but mostly easy to moderate. The HOs are varied, but most you've seen before. Traditional HO fans will be pleased though. I guess my problem is the adventure part, you know, it's all oiling rusty things, finding zipper pulls, filling up gas cans, putting magnets on a string, blah, blah, blah, until I get deja vu that I'm play a "copy and paste" game.
There are morphing objects and collectible monuments in both games, plus achievements. The Secret Room in the Bonus Area is replayable HOs and puzzles. There are jigsaw puzzle pieces too; if you get them all, it assembles itself.
The main game lasts about 4 hours in hard mode, and the bonus game is short, less than an hour. The bonus game is a different story using some of the same scenes, some new. CE bling also has the usual, besides the stuff mentioned above.
Is it worth a CE? I don't think so. Even if you can get past the hokey story, the adventure is trite and worn. The puzzles and HOs can't prop up this cliche-d game. Save your $14 for a worthier offering.
Though I hated to see some of Eipix' successful series come to an end, I knew they had better things in store, but never anticipated this. This game has over the top graphics and scenery; the lush detail blows you away.
The storyline? Well, it involves a bit of everything: Dante's Divine Comedy, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Alice in Wonderland, Sir Isaac Newton, Sherlock Holmes, and just about everybody except Monty Python. But the strange thing is Eipix weaves all this together rather nicely.
I did think it was odd that after being informed my uncle was dead, we go to my house and dude sits in the easy chair and starts reading the paper. "Hey, sorry about your uncle, time to do the crossword".
The HOs and puzzles are about 50/50, and HOs have morphs. They also are more original and creative, a hard thing to do. Puzzles are rough! I spent a lot of time banging away at some of them, but I appreciate the challenge. Adventure challenge is better than average also.
Main game lasts about 5-6 hours in hard mode with no skips or hints. Bonus game lasts about 1.5 hours and does carry the main story further.
CE bling includes achievements, collectible signs (they look like little Buckingham Palaces), replayable HOs and puzzles, plus the usual. There's also the Souvenir Room, a mini-collectible hunt, and it's gotten more challenging. Nice.
Is it worth a CE? This is a high quality game:graphics, adventure, creativity, uniqueness, storyline, and attention to detail. The CE bling definitely extended my playtime. I'm going to say yes.
