Generally I'm not into crossword puzzles because I get frustrated when I can't figure them out. This has two ways to help someone like me. First you can guess from the clue by looking at the scene and clicking what you think it is. If that isn't enough to guess then a little moth flies around for you to catch by clicking it and it will give you a letter It wont solve the puzzle, but give up to the last letter.
The frustrating part is how some objects don't look like what you are looking for. I've clicked several objects when I couldn't figure what I was looking for and suddenly something was right and I'd think..."That was a Glove, Snake, Gun, Fleas, or whatever."
Other than that I did have fun with it. I was impressed by the really nice scenes it used for the hidden objects. I'm currently downloading the second version to see if they did better on that version...
I purchased both this version and version 9 when there were sales. I played them both and were done the same night. I'm guessing the games are designed more for younger children's to play. What I liked was the Christmas atmosphere and music. Some of the HO was fairly challenging, but I know my old eyes had a lot to do with that, Otherwise it's a good game for the money, but quite short. Like four rounds for each game short...
I just finished this game. I don't play the difficult mode because I'm an older player and generally don't do well, but this one gave me enough items to search for in very stunning settings There's a few different types of games that took me a bit to catch on to. Using Hint helped me figure what they were looking for so it wasn't too tough...
I have two or three from this series and they are always a joy I'm surprised this on was released so close to Christmas though...Still fun none the less

I too am with those who are very disappointed in how slow this is compared to the other games in the series. I just played one level twice because the first time I made zero stars and the second time I made one. I see no possible way to get through it faster than that. You have two speed ups, but even waiting to use them until towards the end didn't help very much. Then the next scene was so easy I had three stars. That's when I decided I wasn't going to buy this one....It's just not set up good enough
I learned my lesson very well in the first addition. I too wrote a very unfavorable review on that one because I'd get to the "Save" point, but couldn't make it to the end. The game developers create tasks you need to complete before more of the screen is reviled. The problem is that you really do not know what to look for and by the time you figure it out you might run down the clock too much. This game is even worse because you might need more materials to build a bridge than you have so you might need to tear down buildings to get material back just to continue.
I learned the hard way to first play in the relaxed mode unless you really like having to figure out things within a certain time frame….And restarting seral times from the save point until you do figure it out. This one is pretty complicated to figure out very quickly for most of us so I advise to run through once in relaxed mode and then see if you can remember things a second time around...

This is a game you need to keep a pad handy to make notes of the places you've visited so you remember where certain people are when you find what they need. Otherwise unless you have a great memory you might forget where they stayed. Use the "Hint" function too or you might run in circles trying to figure things out. Not everything is logical
I'm only about six parts in, but so far this game is much slower and has less going on that's fun than the previous games. It didn't cost much on sale, but I too wish I would have tried it first. Since I own all the previous editions I figured I didn't need to try it....I was wrong. As is...It seems better for young kids who might need more time on items
I bought the first version a few years ago and liked it so much I think I played it through three times so I was happy to see they finally created a new version. At first I thought this was going to be hokey, but before long it became more like the original.
One thing I liked about the original was the strange sounds some of the characters made. Like a male merchant who sounds Italian when he shouts something is for sale. Or the female merchant who just yells "Hey" and then kind of a provocative "Uh-Huh" once you purchased. My all time favorites though are both the soldier and the Orcs. The soldier makes a nervous sound whenever he need to destroy a enemy structure or attack an orc. Then these big ugly orcs that will come to your structures and destroy them if they get through yell "Why" when the soldiers kills them...."Why?" You're the enemy...That's why...
I learned the first game to just play the relaxed mode if I want to make it all the way or you most likely will get stuck. You still can be challenged by playing for time, but if you get stuck...You can still continue without making a star. I've hasd a lot of fun so far and I'm half way through the game
I see many others feel like they were duped purchasing what they assumed to be on the same level as "Road To Rome" because it has that look. The trouble is that you keep being told what to do while you try to figure out how to advance and often get messed up by doing what you are told to do. Or you need to find items that you have no idea what it is the picture is indicating. I finally got tired to running out of time even on easy that I went to relaxed and still took a long time getting through levels just trying to figure out where to find what I needed. There's a difference between making a game challenging and making a game ridiculous by making it too vague

I've always thought that one of the best things about the earlier games was the background music and sounds that created a spooky ambiance. It adds a surrealism that makes you feel more like you're actually there live....That really adds to the fun.
My only small draw back is that so far up to maybe level seven it's mostly a HOG except for those really challenging "Super Puzzles" that were too challenging for me to continue on the time restraint mode because I couldn't figure them out fast enough, but now that I have more time I can generally figure them out...Eventually....
So far this roll back to bits of past games has been a lot of fun...Hopefully they'll continue with the sound effects and music on up coming games...
