At first I was not too fond of this game. It seemed pretty generic and not very creative. However, as I got into it, I really started to enjoy the plot and especially the creativity of the mini-games. They were not super-difficult (a good thing!) and they were quite varied; also, there were a few games that I actually have not seen before. I also found the game quite long with tons of different locations. I personally don't mind going back and forth but if you do, be advised there is no map. I had no problem remembering where things were, though, as the locations were adequately differentiated. The places where you had to apply the various inventory objects were fun, creative and novel, which to me is a huge plus. The reasons I did not give this 5 stars were: 1. I found the graphics a little depressing - they were very clear but perhaps a bit muddy?; 2. there wasn't much in the way of music, and it got a bit repetitive (but you could turn it down so it was not bothersome at all); and 3. if you didn't collect all the cards, you had to go back and search every single location to try to find the missing ones. Here comes a huge thank-you to the person who wrote the walk-through and enabled me to find my missing card without devoting an extra half hour at a minimum to the game. I absolutely would buy more games in this series.

This game was nowhere near as good as the sequel, which I enjoyed and would recommend. It is basically a HOG with a few small puzzles added. Not interactive. It was repetitive and boring and illogical and you could never figure out what you were supposed to be doing. I just sat there and waited for the hint button to fill so I could just get it over with. Normally I would say it was too short but in this case I was glad when it was over. The concept wasn't bad, just the execution. They got it right in the sequel, so just start with the second one and don't bother with this one.

I very much enjoyed playing this game. The story was kind of silly but it held my interest and I looked forward to returning to the game (I never have the time to play a game straight through). The ambient sound was excellent - atmospheric and spooky - especially if you turned the music lower as one reviewer suggested. HOS not too difficult and on occasion clever, mini-games were easy but fun. For me the best part was the general layout - the scenes in and around the house were varied and therefore easy to remember even without a map. The hints were lenient. Places where tasks were accomplished were frequently unavailable thereafter, reducing mental wear and tear. The main downside was the sparkles - usually I don't mind them but this game was pretty easy and so they were unnecessary. Even though the game was not difficult, it was reasonably long. I would give it an 8 out of 10 and will definitely buy the sequel.

This is my all time favorite game on BFG. The graphics are delightful and the puzzles are charming and clever but also logical. The game keeps making me smile, even though I have played it twice. I needed a bit of help from the walkthrough but if I were a more patient person I probably could have figured everything out eventually. The entire experience was a treat and I am so looking forward to the sequel. There WILL be a sequel, right???

I don't understand why people thought this game was too short - I was amazed at how long it was! It was very creepy and atmospheric and the plot, for this type of game, was compelling and more or less internally consistent. It certainly kept me interested until the end. I suspect there will be a sequel and I will be first in line. I am more an adventure game person than a HOG person but the HOG scenes were not annoying and the puzzles were clever. The music was not annoying and fit the plot.

I really enjoyed this game. There was a real sense of urgency imparted by the graphics and the plot. The voice acting was exceptionally good. The background noises (no music) were sufficiently creepy and were not annoying. The hidden object scenes were tougher than the average but that makes it more fun for me. The mini-games were actually somewhat on point and not too hard. The places where you had to use your inventory on the various rooms were more creative than usual, not just "find the key for the proper lock." Yes, maybe it is a bit silly to be playing slot machine games while the ship is going down, but by and large this game was well above average and I recommend it.
This is a very creative and enjoyable HOG/adventure game with a pretty good plot. I particularly liked the graphics - there was a very whimsical and creative mind at work there. The music was not annoying. The HOG scenes actually made sense in the context of the plot and were varied throughout the game. The puzzles were, for the most part, reasonably doable and you could always skip them. Yes, there were somewhat creepy scenes, but there were just as many absolutely delightful scenes with chairs and pianos with faces. It is quite long and well worth your time and money in my opinion.
This is a sequel to Paradise Quest with much the same game play but with a few welcome variations. I think it is a little easier, though. The map works in the night time which I seem to recall was not the case in Paradise Quest. It has a bit of a plot and excellent graphics and sound quality. There are lots of different ways to create explosions, always a plus in my opinion. The only downside is that it is almost impossible to tear yourself away . . .
