I almost feel bad for giving poor reviews to games that only last a few hours, rather than the many, many hours that you can get from other PC games - and no, I'm not talking about the ones that cost $30, $50 - they are games just like what we can find here, yet they last 20 hours and such. Then along come some with only 5 hours of gameplay & I get pretty annoyed. Then along come several more, cutting back the time even more and I'm just incensed. THEN comes this game here that lasts like, 90 minutes!!!
Sorry, but that's just cheating the customer. Its not unreasonable to expect a good length of time from a game.

Hi. I have played Farm Craft 2 over the past week and I am sad to say that it has not been an enjoyable experience.
To give you some background on how much I usually enjoy farm-sim/TM games, let me explain just how many I have. First, there is this other series. It may only be up to 4 or 5 in its sequels but many of those sequels each contain several sub-games. So between just that 1 series plus 4 others I do this a lot! Sadly, Farm Craft 2 just doesn't make the grade. The most noticeable aggravation for me is that the entire screen at any given point is a HUGE MESS. Its just clutter, overcrowding, chaos, people, animals, buildings & products all over the place. If it were possible to remake this, my #1 recommendation would be to clean. it. up. Argh!
I experienced no technical problems with this, so that's good. Its just what I mentioned above, the lack of any likeable characters, the fact that the game didn't have any one thing about it with wow factor that all of the others in this genre do. I will be deleting this from my system in a few minutes. I feel sad that I wasted my money on it. On the plus side, at least its not a (spooky) HOG.
At first I was unimpressed with Grimm's Hatchery because I made it all the way through the game without realizing that the game changes a bit depending upon the difficulty level.
I don't mean the standard gets harder type of change, I mean there were more interesting options on levels besides the very easiest. So after coming back to see if I could get some more out of the game & discovering that, I was a bit satisfied. The sounds in this are NOT pleasing. I found myself unable to turn them off (only the music) so I had to go out of full screen each time & mute my whole computer. You do NOT want to hear the sounds of constant saving/restarting & in this game, I often did that up to 20 times in a couple of minutes bec. of the eggs. To destroy bugs, you need to click many, many, many times & that can get a bit tedious but sometimes that tedium is outweighed by the satisfaction of the rest of the game.
Overall, if Grimm's Hatchery had had at least 4 or 5 additional animals in it, or some side quests or just more MEAT to it, I'd have given it 5 stars for sure. It felt lacking but it was still fun & mostly satisfying - enough that I was willing to do all that saving/restarting!
I noticed that a few of the reviewers mentioned the length - but they said it in an offhand way, such as the one who said "great game to waste an afternoon with". Unless that afternoon is 8 or 9 hours long, I'm going to be incensed. Aside from that, this game is of course well done. the graphics are as great as always - kind of stunning.
I just think we need to stop accepting 4 hour games as ok. Because they're not. All over the gaming world, including casual gaming, there are adventure games that can last for 12, 16, 20 hours or more. This has to stop being allowed.

Its a rare occasion when I am met with a TM-strategy game for PC/Mac that I dislike and if getting me there were a goal to be reached, then When In Rome really rose to the task.
I played about 45 minutes of this game before realizing that my mood was steadily worsening. I did not enjoy any of the game, and this was the first game I've ever played where every single level seemed nearly identical to the previous.

I very much liked the fantasy element to this game. I enjoyed the graphics & the customization. Only there were two major drawbacks to Magic Life that caused me to just completely uninstall it:
a. I finished the game in probably 90 minutes start to finish.
That is the mother of all unforgiveable sins for me in gaming. Like, to the point where I want to take a mental note of the developer of this & put them in the naughty chair for considering future purchases of their games. Extremely uncool. b. not such a huge issue, but I have a problem with my arm. This issue had never affected my gaming more than say, 1-2% here & there but with Magic Life, I constantly found myself drawing the wrong shapes then losing.
IN FACT... the game may only have taken about ONE HOUR TOTAL had I not lost duels so many times bec. it thought that I was drawing shapes other than what I was.
Big frown. I am probably going to give up casual pc/mac gaming because this is about the 10th game of the past 15 or so that I've tried that was short to the point of being a rip off. (I've been known to spend sick amounts of time playing pc or mac games so this is not a light decision)

I just played about 55 minutes of the demo & am strongly considering buying this. I own every single FF game out there, as about 2 months ago I had run across a disc in a store that had around 5 (more, maybe) all on one disc & I had already owned most of the others.
Sure, this is different than the other FF games but guess what? The criticism on all of the message boards about the other FFs was exactly about how they were all the same!! Now that these guys have gone & changed things up, people are complaining. Shouldnt do that.
This isnt the greatest game in the world, but its fine!
I see some of the reviews here on this page are 5 stars & 4 stars - go look on the forums and you will find mostly very negative reviews. I would go as far as saying this is one of the top 3 worst TM games I've ever tried. I made it through 30 torturous minutes of playing Fairy Maids before deciding that I was 30 minutes overdue for a voluntary beheading.
Please understand I am not trying to be negative. Go look at the forums to see that I'm not alone here. The clicking, the arduousness, the lack of a real storyline....is a shame because my favorite theme ever is the fairy tale one.
I just played for an hour demo & bought this game right away. I am very impressed. Thats about all I have to say - no downside, no complaints...just a good game here.
Very pleased that I came across The Golden Years. Whoever made this should keep up the good work.
I recommend this game!

At this point, I no longer care whether a game is even all that good. I just wish that the HOGs would go away forever. I feel like its my duty as a gamer to find, buy & support the guys who are not flooding the casual pc & mac gaming world with the sewage that is the hundreds or maybe now thousands of spooky hidden object games.
Escape From Frankenstein's Castle - above all else - is not a hidden object game and thats all I care about. I bought it without even trying out a demo once I heard it had no things to look for. Its simply despicable what has happened to the casual gaming scene today.
