It was okay .. I didnt buy it though (NOT happy with the new 'credit' system, and the shocking price increase, for generally poorer output).
I've also been on BFG 'forever' and I agree with 'pennsmom' (?) .. MCF isnt a patch on what it used to be. Those old MCF games .. Return to/Escape from Ravenhearst, 13 Skulls, Dire Grove, Madame Fate etc were in a class on their own. They were innovative, humorous .. and really quite dark and 'edgy'! In fact if the developers really want to make their customers happy, they could try re-mastering the originals so we can play them again on more modern pc systems. I'd pay anything for the chance to play them again on a full screen. Ah well.
We've had some terrible games from Big Fish, of late .. but I think this one scrapes the bottom of the barrel. It really cant get any worse. No instructions, no menu .. and I had to use the task master to exit. It doesn't even deserve one star.
I bought this without even playing it .. I love the Clutter games. And I'm finding this one quite hard .. the 'emoji' level is doing me 'ead in!
As with all Clutter games, it's a bit clunky, and its devotees are quite used to that .. but the only reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that this one is sorely lacking in instructions and 'help'. But I don't really care .. it's just great fun.

It was okay .. and I bought it, but I got bored after a while.
I am a huge Clutter fan, and although this doesn't have the awkwardness (and as many gitches) as Clutter, it was nowhere near as enjoyable.
With Clutter .. even if a level was tough, I didn't mind repeating it over and over again .. because it was FUN. Whereas this game was just thoroughly hard work, I thought ,, rather depressing.
(Neither was the 'pointer' as precise, I often had to click an object twice ..)

I'm surprised to be the first to review this .. I thought it was pretty good. No map, no portals .. in fact not many bells or whistles at all. But although it was a bit clunky in places, it held my attention from start to finish.
Considering the theme (ghosts and demons) the story was believable, and the tasks made sense. Nice voice-overs and the special effects weren't bad either .. considering the obvious low budget.
I've only played the demo (not always a true indication of the whole game, I know) and it wasn't half bad! It made a pleasant change from all the gooey Christmassy games of late .. but I do understand that our younger members have to be catered for more at this time of the year.
Different gameplay, quite inventive mini-games, believable characters (mostly) , graphics are okay .. and it's theme is the paranormal, which is a topic I find fascinating anyway.
I didn't come across anything scary, so I'll wait for the full reviews before I buy. But based on the demo, I think its pretty good. Jo

I've been a harsh and regular critic of Eipix .. especially in their treatment of my beloved MCF franchise, but I have to hand it to them, they've pulled out all the stops with this one. It is very VERY good.
These days, there are very few games I play again and again, but having skipped almost all the puzzles in Broken Hour the first time around, I'm hooked enough to go back and play them all over again! VERY WELL DONE .. and THANK YOU! Jo
The thing about any new MCF game, is that it’s up against all the previous games in the MCF series, and not ‘all the rest’.
Compared to the best of all the run-of-the-mill games we see so much of on Big Fish, it stands up very well .. amazing graphics, great game play etc .. what more could we want? But as a ‘Ravenhearst’ game .. I thought it was very disappointing. Slightly better than ‘Key to Ravenhearst’ (which was so dire I didn’t even bother completing it) .. but simply not in the same league as the previous ones.
It’s hard to put ones finger on why because it is certainly a beautifully crafted game .. but I felt it lacked the cleverness, the subtlety, the menace, and the dark humour of it’s predecessors. ‘Intense psychological thriller’ it certainly wasn’t! It just got a bit silly.
Which leaves reviewers in a bit of a quandary ..
It would be unfair to give it a bad review.. but I was so disappointed that the much anticipated highlight of my gaming year turned out to be yet another Eipix all bangs-bells-and-whistles rollercoaster, I’m disinclined to give it 5 stars either. So I’ve settled on a 3.
