This game was a lot of fun. You have to use your brain. Yes there are translation issues but it's fun to figure out what objects they're talking about. There is an 'eat other fish and get bigger' type of replayable mini-game that is the best type of this game that I've ever seen. There are several replayable mini-games. It's worth the money for this mini-game alone!
This is a great game - it has everything one wants in a HOPA, without gimmicks or too much gadgetry. It's the first game I can think of that actually pulled at my heart strings. The graphics are beautiful and immersive. The puzzles are interesting and most take some thinking to finish. So many times I've bought a CE and then after game play I think it wasn't worth the price, mostly because the morphing objects and collectibles are so obvious to find. For this game, I didn't try the CE first, but I wish I had. I totally love the SE but would have liked to see the bonus material to the end.
I enjoyed it for the first hour then it fizzled out into a standard do this do that game. I had liked this game developer; I had an expectation that they would produce a game that lasted beyond the demo. Wrong. They only put money into the first hour. Very disappointed by them since I paid for a game that I expected to be decent.
Congratulations MariaGlorum on this hit game. Wouldn't it be amazing If all HOPAs could be this interesting and fresh. You raised the bar for 2019 games! Best game that I've played in a long time.
The game took me about 8 hours. More challenging than any HOPAs out there these days. The extras are extensive, with new puzzles and games not in the main chapter. The English translation is poor for the dialogue but okay for the instructions. You have to get over the fact that the characters are created in a wooden, poorly done computer image. But the story line is good, the graphics are beautiful, not too garish, and the music was pleasant. I found it more enjoyable than the Lost Lands games; this is in the same format but is more of a fantasy world than desolate battle type of atmosphere. It was a day well spent playing this game, as I am post-knee surgery and can't do much of anything.
I purchased the game but haven't completed it yet due to time constraints (I think it's pretty long) but I wanted to give a review because I feel like this is the best game I've played this year. It has a very good story line that progresses nicely through the game. There are whimsical features that are fun to discover. There isn't much back and forth. You have to do a little searching within the HOs and I'm really enjoying the puzzles. A few have taken about 5-10 minutes for me to solve, which is awesome. I really appreciate the attention to detail in this game. I have the others in this series, and I think this is as good as the first. It ties really nicely with the others. Great job devs!
I first demo'd the game and found the storyline engaging enough for me to purchase on sale. It is beautifully drawn, there are a variety of activities to do, including several fun flights. The HOs have multiple morphing items and have actual hidden objects. I haven't completed the game; I'm in the second chapter and that took about 3 casual hours so I expect another 3 hrs out of it. It's not a cookie cutter game like so many right now.
I recommend this game!

Dark Parables: Requiem for the Forgotten Shadow Collector's Edition
A dark illness has befallen the townspeople of Anaben!
I was desperately looking for a decent game to spend my credits on before they expired. I SO loved the real Dark Parables games so I thought, "Eipix version couldn't be THAT bad" ugh. I couldn't wait to get thru this. The story was convoluted, the FROGs were no where near as artistic, beautiful and relaxing as the first 4 or so Blue Tea games. I had to use the hint button a lot, mostly because the story never kept me engaged enough to care where to put some random thing that had no accompanying story line to go with it. You just go from space to space carrying random emblems without context in your inventory. There was a repeating stupid puzzle that just increased my resolve never to buy an Eipix game again.
Usually I tend to agree with those of our esteemed reviewers who like challenging and well-produced games. I appreciate their input and give them applause for their detailed analyses. However, with this game I guess I diverged enough for me to write about it. I enjoyed the demo and wanted to play on after it ended. It was campy, but fairly logical and I was curious enough about the characters' relationships to want to see how it unfolds. It's light on HOPs and puzzles and more on progressing through the adventure. I like the crime genre as long as it's not too far fetched from a logical process. I don't really care for the added price of CEs, so the CE version isn't for me. But I'm sure I'll check out this game again when it is an SE.
After completing the demo, I wanted to keep playing! This game is enjoyable, with clear graphics, new puzzles, jump map, good hint system without much hand holding, and good HOPS that actually tried to hide the items. While the witch looks scary, I didn't find anything scary/creepy here, just a fun fantasy/take on classic stories. I don't know how long the game is, that will factor in to whether I purchase it.
