The SE retains all the good features of the CE: * Great graphics * Good sound * Jumpable map * Little imp helper
The storyline is great and comes to a satisfactory conclusion. It does follow on from the previous games in the series but is fine as a stand alone.
A good mix of puzzles and HOSs (where you can play a matching game if you prefer).
If you want a quality game but don't like paying extra for collectibles/achievements, then go ahead and buy. Strategy guide is not necessary. I never use them as the map provides next steps in navigation and the hint helps in most cases.
I recommend this game!

Nightmares from the Deep: The Siren's Call Collector's Edition
Face off against Davy Jones and his nightmares from the deep!
I loved the first installment of Nightmares of the Deep and, although this works well as a stand-alone, there are references to the first episode and some elements of gameplay, eg finding coins for Davy Jones' locker to reveal the back story, which make you go 'ah yes, I remember this'.
The start of the game is exciting and action-packed, taking you full tilt into the adventure. I am not one to reveal details of characters and storyline so just rest assured that, as a player who has become a little jaded by 'same old' recently, I am completely taken with this game.
There are 8 chapters and a bonus with 3 levels of play (casual, avanced and expert) Parrots, octopi and seahorses to collect, though some you have to work for by ringing bells etc.
More puzzles than HOSs so far (only played the demo) but the HOSs are different types and interactive and the puzzles, though fairly straightforward, are quite challenging. You can play mahjong instead if you prefer.
You receive a jumpable map which (in casual) shows active locations.
Both graphics and sound are excellent, especially in the cut scenes and voice-overs. There seem to be a lot of these at first but they add to the pace and excitement.
All in all, a great game which I will be buying as soon as I have posted this. I cannot recommend highly enough that you play the demo - I bet you will be buying it too.
Theme links well with the first in this series and continues the idea of saving people from and defeating mutating plants.
A range of puzzles and HOSs which were different but not overly challenging. Items to pick up and use scattered around the various scenes.
Graphics OK but I found them to be a bit blurry in the cut scenes (and there were a lot of those).
Not for the faint-hearted as some 'make you jump' moments.
I didn't like the voices of the characters, especially 'Mom's' at the start and found the music irritating so turned the sound right down. (There was also a strange and loud 'boing' whenever the helpful dryad(?) appeared). This then made the game less atmospheric for me.
No map so there was some backward and forwarding to find/use objects. The hint came in handy to set you off in the right direction (the only time I used it).
All in all, not a bad game and will keep on my 'to buy' list for an offer weekend or a 'Bonus Punch Monday').
Definitely worth a trial and also have a look at the first 'Natural Threat' if you like this sci-fi theme.
Enjoyable and relaxing, 'old school' HO/Puzzle game based at a national park. You play the ranger who must tidy up and prepare locations for visitors.
Find objects Locate lost items Recycle rubbish
In casual mode, relaxing and untimed so it is a nice HO 'workout'. Music is pleasant enough and graphics are reasonably clear though some objects are tiny.
Puzzles are straightforward, finding differences, jigsaw, matching flags to famous locations.
Not for me, as it is very repetitive, but worth a try.
