I was disappointed with ABN 16 but was over the moon with ABN 17 (what I've played so far). Colours are bright, game play is flawless. I'm on WIN11 and had no problems.
The numbers DO pop out when you hover over those spots where you can't read the number. That has always been a feature for me in previous ABN games. (I'm referring to the previous reviewer's comments who is complaining that this does not happen for them).
If like me you like to colour by colour rather than in sequence of numbers, you'll be pleased to note that it doesn't bounce you back to the lowest number, but continues on. This is good when you're on the next section of colours.
At long last I've found a jigsaw game that comes pretty close to my old favourite Jigsaw 365 which BF no longer supports and it was removed from my purchased games some time ago. I was gutted. This new My Hobby: Puzzles ticks all the boxes for me and it's a long time coming. There are 9 categories and 24 puzzles per category. There are 4 different shaped pieces to choose from and amount of pieces goes up to about 1440 (I forget exact number) and you get a tick once you've played so you can keep track. The play is flawless and there's plenty room to move your pieces around. I give a big thumbs up to this game as I have waited years for a jigsaw game that even comes close to Jigsaw 365 and how it played. Well done devs and I look forward to more, although it will most likely take me a long while to finish this one, so no rush :-)
This is another example of devs jumping on the CE bandwagon when a game is quite simply not worth the CE price.
First off, I've never heard of the developer and an internet search brought up nothing.
There is music and sound effects but no voiceover. Text dialogue is very old school but on the plus side you can just click to get rid - even better, you can click anywhere - it doesn't have to be on the 'continue' button.
There's an 'Extras Objects' to find in every scene. There is a clear picture of it in the bottom left corner. So.... that's just one more item to find? Nothing special there.
You find a big easy to spot raccoon in every scene.
There are hidden zones which sparkle when there's something to find and then closes automatically when you're done. I like that feature.
There's an album which shows every scene and indicates if you've finished the location, found the extra and found the racoon. You can replay immediately - no need to wait until the end of the game. Another feature I like.
There are 32 HO scenes plus 8 in the bonus chapter.
There are 16 puzzles and 8 in the bonus chapter.
Everything is easy. There's nothing to test you.
I will buy the SE when it's released as it is a nice relaxing game. I will not pay CE prices for a simple HOG.
I own all of these games and wasn't expecting anything less than I was used to playing. After reading a rave review of full-page pictures I was disappointed to note that that was not the case!! There are some but not many. Also, the pictures in level 1 and halfway through level 2 (that's where I'm up to) were flat compared to Art by Numbers 15 which I had just finished replaying. In fact, if it hadn't been for Robot, I would have had to double check I wasn't playing that OTHER series. I feel the dev has taken quite a few steps back on this one.
This is my least favourite series of all the painting games available. There are too many plates. I've completed the first level and checked out the pictures available going forward. There may be just enough good ones to persuade me to buy but is it worth it if I'll be skipping numerous plates? I don't know. Another grievance I have with this dev is all the flat white on white. Very off putting. I was actually grateful for the grey snow! Another is how heavy my mouse feels when painting. At least twice as heavy as other painting games where my mouse seems to flow. This game does nothing good for my tennis elbow! I have elected to give this game 3 stars throughout so 'OK' but I realise I have a lot of negativity about the game so I'm downgrading to 2 stars. As always, try for yourself.
I love this series. I'm pleased to see they have reverted to going back to the lowest number available. This is handy if like me you never use hints. If you can't see that last bit then just go onto the next number and when you've completed that it will go back to the one you've missed and you can almost always see it straight away. I'm not sure why they took away that function but I'm pleased it's back. There looks to be some really good pictures ahead and I look forward to playing it through.
I have to admit to being disappointed on my first run through this game. All dark and dreary colours. I enjoyed my second run through because I love these games and now knew what to expect so I could sit back, relax and enjoy.
I am not an art expert so I'm not sure whether the use of these colours is what modern art is all about.
I will buy the next one. The art is phenomenal but I would love to see some bright blue skies and lush green fields.
