I love these games and have played every edition this developer has put out (and will probably continue to do so). I'm disappointed that they have gone the way of the CE though. The only thing you get extra is an additional 8 (not sure of exact number) levels within the course of the game. You don't even realize they are "bonus levels" until after you're done. And you can replay puzzles. There are also waaay too many puzzles for my taste. I like puzzles, but some are repeats (like the ice cream one) and some were practically back to back! Couple of other complaints: I like to get all the achievements and it's practically impossible to finish one of those puzzles in under a minute! There was also a HOP level that wouldn't allow me to finish. I even closed and restarted to see whether it was just a weird glitch. It wasn't. I can't say I didn't enjoy this game, I just didn't care for the changes they have made to the format. More HOPs, less puzzles next time please!
I recommend this game!

So after playing some rather chilling Halloween games, I knew this one was more on the tame side from what I remembered from last years' entry into this series. I was right. It was a short game (4 hours) and mostly easy-breezy. I did like the variety of HOPs and that this game offers none of those "Random Solution" puzzles (THANK YOU DEVS!). There were several instances that had me scratching my head... such as why would you need a boot sole to strike a match when there are rocks all around you? Why would you need a flint and striker when you just had a Zippo-style lighter? Lots of back and forth play, which would have been awful if there wasn't a jump map. The collectibles are very easy to find, but I did like the collectible indicator to let you know what is available. Yes, it's hand-holding, but I was okay with it. Lots of teals and very bright colors for those who don't care for that. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but it does give the game a more "family friendly" look to it. Did I like this game? Well, it was 'meh'. Not great, not bad... we've all played variations of this before. A nice, non-scary Halloween game. As always, please try the demo for yourself.
I recommend this game!

I honestly don't know where all these negative reviews are coming from! DANG! I sure got my money's worth with this one! Not only is it a long game (roughly 6-7 hours), but it made me rethink whether I should even go hiking again! I would not recommend this one for kids because it's pretty intense at times. The storyline was a little thin, but overall the game play was amazing. You play as 3 different people (one per chapter), but it's not like those Romance games were you switch around within a scene. The HOPs were some of the best I've ever played. I really had to look hard for items that were staring me in the face! The morphs, collectibles and tapes were fairly difficult to find. You have to find all the collectibles to be able to access the souvenirs. Luckily, you can find the ones you missed at the end (THANK YOU DEVS!). I was impressed by the creep factor without the use of pop-up ghouls to make you jump. There were some moments where the story takes you back to another view point from another person angle, which I thought was a nice touch. To be honest, I don't remember the first game from this series (even though I did buy it). But after I recover from this one, I'll definitely be checking out the first one again! As always, please try the demo first... but don't play it alone at night unless you really into that sort of stuff (like I am!!!)
I recommend this game!

I always look forward to a yearly helping of new Halloween games. This one is easy and fun, with very little as far as a "boo factor". Younger players should enjoy this one. Although there are only 3 chapters, it is an average length game (roughly 4 hours) with a longer than expected bonus chapter. My only complaints with this one are the constant banners on the left hand side to remind you what your tasks are. They are slow and interfere with the flow of the game. You also can't do anything while they are on the screen. I also noticed that one HOP and one puzzle had a "sticky mouse"... meaning that as you move your mouse, you have to stop and click to make the cursor "stick" to where you need it to be. Other than that, it's fun to play, creative and a perfect addition to any Halloween game collection. Try it for yourself.
I recommend this game!

No bells and whistles, but a simple, challenging hidden objects game. The storyline is lame and didn't really have any sort of resolution at the end. I played the demo and was able to fully equip the mansion before it was over. I used a freebie to purchase, hoping it was a longer game. I was wrong. I think there were 5 scenes past the end of the demo. Since I did enjoy what little there was to this one, I will play it over again. BUT, I would have been very upset had I actually spent money on it. I'm on the fence as to whether to recommend this one or not. I liked the contents, what little there was of it. Try it for yourself, but buyer beware.
I don't recommend this game.

To start, I would give this game 4 1/2 stars if that option was available. I played the beta version and liked it from the start. The time management aspect is basically like all the others, but there is more strategy involved which makes it a cut above the rest. There is SO MUCH to think about and with no strategy guide, you really have to be on your toes. Instead of waiting for a thermometer to fill up to gain powers (like speed or extra bounty), you have to wait for Alice's imagination to decide which powers you will have access to. Sometimes it's even free candy, wood or gold! So your eyes are constantly moving to keep up. On top of that, there are different colored scrolls to find that pop up and disappear quickly. If you miss them, they turn up some other place on the field. There is also a puzzle cup that shows up on some of the levels that you must find to complete a puzzle at the end of the game. Whew! It's exhausting! I can only play 3 or 4 levels in one sitting because it wears me out! My only complaints are that this game really could use a strategy guide, at least to be able to find the cups. Also, the music is awful. It sort of made me sick to my stomach after awhile. I finally turned it off, which I hate to do during a game. Overall, this is a wonderful game. Please try the demo for yourself.

Okay, you've read the other reviews with the details of the game play, so I won't bore you with a rehash. Overall, this one came sooo close to reliving some of the fun of the old days of Ravenhearst, but it just didn't have any of the heart stopping terror of the originals. There was no build up of suspense. Yes, the game is fun, the puzzles are good (but not great) and the HOPS are okay. The morphs are hard to spot, but not impossible and the hidden stamps are sometimes so large it's almost comical. It's hands-down the best game they've come out with in a long time. It's sort of too bad that to make it good, they have to revisit old themes like Fate's Carnival, Ravenhearst and Broken Hour to achieve what fans want. I did enjoy that aspect of the game, but I feel bad for the Devs. My one complaint was the storyline. I really didn't get it. So this guy wanted to be a detective and didn't get accepted? So in an attempt to prove he's good enough, he tries to steal the brain power of other detectives? If he's that good, why would he need to steal their brains? Just saying... Anyway, I really did enjoy this long (roughly 6 hour) game and will replay it again soon. I just wish it had a little more "bump in the night" thrills to push it over the edge, hence my 4 star rating. Definitely worth the money for the CE. Try the demo for your self!

I've played all the other Hiddenverse games and thoroughly loved them (except for the witch one). I love a good mystery game and right now I have no idea who the culprit is. That's a good thing because I usually figure things like that out half way through a game. The game features various Clutter-style mini games including a "You vs." game, which I have to admit that I don't care for, but it's okay. My only real complaints are that there are no voice-overs and LOTS of reading. Luckily I read very quickly or this would have been a no-buy for me. The other complaint is that just when you start to get into the storyline, you have to stop and play mini games to earn stars to be able to go forward. I found that if you play all the mini games first (twenty in a section), I didn't get as frustrated. That way you have all the stars you need to complete a portion of the storyline. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game and worth playing. Just be prepared to work around the quirks to increase the playability. As always, try it for yourself.
I recommend this game!

I LOVED season 1. I LOVE this one even better! The storyline keeps you engaged, the challenges are... well, challenging... and those darn hidden caches drive me crazy (in a good way). Although this is considered a TM game, I would call it more of an adventure game. So many things to think about that keep you on your toes. Each level takes about 25 to 30 mins. to complete, so this is a long game (which always makes me happy!). One thing I didn't know until now, you can keep track of how many caches you have found (and how many you need to find) by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right corner. DOH! It doesn't make them any easier to find, but at least you know whether you are close to finding them all in each level. AMAZING game! As always, try it for yourself. I'm pretty sure you will love it as much as I do.
I recommend this game!

I'm happy to say that this one is worth a credit. Some might say it's a little old school, but it really isn't. The mystery/story line is very good. You play an artist who moves to Paris and falls in love with the beautiful Sasha. After painting her portrait, you wake up the next morning with the police banging on your door wanting you to surrender. Blood is on the portrait and you have no idea how it got there. After escaping your room you come in contact with the Man with the Ivory Cane. Friend or foe? He seems to want to help, but is he really the villain? Is Sasha dead or alive? It's up to you to follow the clues to figure these questions out. This game is actually harder than you might think. The puzzles are challenging. To be honest, I would have liked to have had a strategy guide for some of them. I have to admit that I was a little annoyed by all the needy people you come across. It's one thing to ask for one favor, but multiple favors was too much. Lots of character manipulations. Also lots of keys to find. On the bright side, there is a go-to map that helps if you get confused. There are also silver elephants to find throughout the game, but no morphs. So this has a lot to offer for a one credit game. The voice overs where very good as well. Please give this one a try. I think you will like it.
I recommend this game!
