My earlier disappointment with Hidden Expedition has come full circle in that they are back to the original format. A story you can logically follow without the constant, unnecessary back and forth. What little retracing of steps you do is needed to progress. Not quite a 5 star but very close. The graphics are, again, top notch as are the characters and the voices. I loved the HO's in this one. There is just enough challenge to keep me interested but not frustrated and the mini games are equally enjoyable although sometimes difficult but still fun. This one will definitely be added to my collection and will be one of my most played. I highly recommend this one especially if you are a fan of the earlier Hidden Expedition style of play. Play the demo and this time pay attention to the reviews with the higher ratings. They are spot on. Have fun!
I recommend this game!

Big Win Goldmine
Step up to the slots and shout YEE-HA when you win big in Big Win Goldmine Slots!
This has to be one of the most boring games I have ever played. I read the reviews and even the 1 stars said they won all the time, well, I must have received a different game because I hardly ever won. Unlike some others, I played 15 minutes and won a whopping $2,000.00 which went right back into the machine. Got to play blackjack a couple of times but they were big losers also. Graphics are some of the worst I've seen in a long time and that music is annoying. I have played slots and blackjack and other gambling games before but never as pointless as this one. I don't even recommend wasting your time playing the demo unless you happen to get the version that wins all the time. I do not recommend this game. Have fun! (but not with this game)
This game immediately fell into one of the main items I dislike and that is the constant back and forth to get and do things that don't help the story along. Another thing I dislike are the supposed HO's that involve someone telling a story and you have to find the highlighted words in the story. The first one in this game went on for what seemed like forever. Graphics not that great and the characters could have been rendered with a little more, well, character. They are just deadpan people. HO's and mini games don't offer much challenge and, again, don't seem to help the story along. I like a little challenge to work my brain mass but it isn't here. I just can't recommend this game based on the boring demo but play it for yourself before you decide. Don't just buy based on reviews, you may be disappointed. Have fun!
At one time I was a huge Hidden Expedition fan owning most of the ones they have put out but this one has caused me to look harder at the series future offerings. I don't know what happened, either former developers moved on or company policy changed but this one is not worth the paper it is printed on.
The story line is weak at best, the characters border on comical and the action is boring. Usually Hidden Expedition has a story and they follow this story in a logical order with HO's and mini games helpinng you along. This one is a hodge podge of jumping around back and forth and useless conversations thrown in to supposedly enhance the game. They are trying to get this pearl and when they finally do, they don't do with it what you would think. And this is just in the demo!
Graphics are good which is par for Hidden Expedition but that is where the pro's end. Everything else is con. Sorry I can't say anything good about one of my favorite series but it isn't here in this one.
If this review looks familiar that's because it is the same one I did for the CE edition meaning nothing changed and my feelings are the same.
Play the demo, you might like it but I didn't. Not a recommendation from me.
I have quite a few of the earlier Hidden Expedition games and they have been good purchases. Only the fairly recent ones have started to fall short and have become HO HUM games. They need to bring back the early developers and put them back to work.
I started playing this game to. maybe, learn some history of an ancient emperor but instead all I did was go from one place to another unlocking everything in sight rather than progressing the story which is one of the biggest gripes I have with the new batch of games coming from the developers, all they want you to do is run back and forth.
Graphics aren't too bad in this one and are on the bright side which I like as opposed to all the dark games out there. I don't understand why they make those games so dark as if that's supposed to make the game better.
The characters are leaning toward the comical side but at least they look human and have a brain even if some of the voices make you think different. Question, why is the villain always drawn like, oh, I don't know, a villain? I knew as soon as I saw the whole crew who the baddy was and that was confirmed later. You'll know, too, as soon as you meet the crew.
I recommend this one with reservations. I would buy it just to add to my Hidden Expedition collection but only with game credits which sounds ridiculous since the credits are paid for in real money but it seems as though it's not.
All I have to add is play the demo and see if this is a higher than 3 star rating for you.
I thought this was going to be a pretty nice game based on the opening of the demo. The story was believable, the graphics were pretty nice and the characters were very well drawn. However, that is where the niceness left, as soon as they left the diner and headed to the house. From that point it became one of the typical HO's being put out these days. Go here, get this, go back, open this to get that to go somewhere else to do something else...you get my drift? I really dislike these back and forth games that do't do anything for the story. I'm not going to rehash the game as some do because you have played the demo and read the reviews so all I'm going to add is I don't recommend this game. I played both versions, SE and CE, and the review pertains to both. I will say, since this did get 5 star reviews, play the demo objectively and decide for yourself. Don't be swayed by the stars though whether they are 5 or 1. Have fun!
This is based on a second playing of the demo. Fairly typical story-girlfriends brother supposedly died years earlier but has shown up and you must save him and your girlfriend who was whisked away by a dark hooded figure. This one doesn't jump back and forth constantly without helping the story. The back and forth you do is necessary and pushes the story along. The graphics are dark but nice and the characters have nice detail although the talking movements need a little work. HO's are not hard or easy, just a nice in between and the mini games add a little challenge. I found this game kept my attention and neither boredom nor tedium crept in. I would recommend this game for any level of gamer. Play the demo and see if it's for you. Have fun!
This game starts out fairly well but soon falls into the now typical HO games out today. That is the constant back and forth finding objects and using them to get other objects, etc. All gamers know the scenario and are tired of it. C'mon developers, let's come up with something we actually like. Graphics are a little above average and the characters are believable but that is where the fun (?) ends. The HO's are about the same as any other game and nothing to write home about and the mini games are a little on the easy side. Not much of a challenge here. I played the complete demo and, at times, I thought the challenge, fun and excitement might save this one only to be shot down in the next scene. I would recommend this to the gamers that enjoy this type of play but it isn't for me. Play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun!
This is one of my rare 1 star ratings which I only give out for an absolutely bad game. I cannot see anything above maybe a 2 star at the most. When you first open the game and the title screen pops up you think "This is going to be a great game" but then you get into actually playing and that changes quickly. Heroine meets dad in India and there is no greeting whatsoever just him going on and on about an artifact and next thing you know dear old dad is being whisked away by the baddies and you are on your own. I guess this is supposed to be a hidden object game and you do find things but not really in the regular HO way, the objects are just laying all over and you pick 'em up and, hopefully, use 'em somewhere. I played maybe 15 minutes of the demo before I gave up. The joy just isn't here. Some gamers may find this an interesting game but I'm not into old school on this type of HO, I want up to date and latest technology, great graphics and music and believable characters. I will say the colors and some of the characters are nice but that is where it ends. All I can add is play the demo and decide for yourself. This might be a 5 star for you. I don't recommend it at all. Have fun!
All roads lead to Rome! With thousands of years of art, history, and culture on display, it's the perfect destination for your next Big City Adventure.
Finally, a new Big City! I have been waiting for a nice Big City game to come along and this is it. I have played most of the previous ones and I own San Francisco and Sydney, but this one caught my eye. The graphics are great and, of course, you have the same family doing the traveling and exploring so there is no surprise there. The HO's have just the right amount of challenge and they threw in the hidden hidden (yes, 2) objects which adds a nice twist and the mini games between sets are interesting. Seem to be a little easier than the others but that's ok. At least there aren't any crocodiles or pelicans. Fans will know what I'm talking about. Nice history information added also which make me want to put the game on my buy list. I highly recommend this one especially if you have played the others. I think this is the best so far and a buy for me. Have fun!
