How horrible must a game be to start the review with a HUGE sigh???? Pretty sad.
The graphics were absolutely AMAZING! Finally! A dev who got the whole dark at night, snowy environment RIGHT! No over-use of those horrible orange and steel grey colors! YAY YAY YAY!
The music was great. The voice overs were done well. Sound fx were nicely done as well. You could certainly tell a bird from a wolf, etc.
HOGs varied. Mini Games were relatively easy. Both were quite plentiful.
Eventually you get a map. Not quite sure how to use it. I keep being referred to a 'diary entry' but have no idea where the 'diary' is .... and I've clicked on EVERYTHING!
I 'think' there were 'Extras' and 'CE Bling' but, if there were, I'm not sure what, if anything, there was.
I don't use the word 'hate' because I think that's unnecessarily harsh. I tend to have 'hmmmm' moments ..... and I had quite a few of those during the demo.
What exactly was going on with the game????? Every 1/2 of a second there was another HOG or Mini Game!!! There was no way to understand the game or story or whatever.
Periodically, I found a dove. Is this a collectible? If so, how many do I need to find?
Speaking of collectibles ....... this is a CE ...... shouldn't there be ..... more?
By the time the demo ended, I was so over all the mini games and HOGs and those little bubbles that popped up and you had to find THOSE items as well!
I just kept saying ................. literally ....... talking to the computer and saying ............... Oh God I am SOOOO over this! The end couldn't have come soon enough.
For these reasons and so many more this is not a purchase for me but for those who can crack the game code, so to speak ..................
Long ago, a team of miners broke down a wall. On the other side was a wealth of jewels and other treasure. The miners took their fill. Afterwards, evil attacked the town. Seriously???? EVERYONE knows you don't mess with buried treasure! There's ALWAYS a CURSE!!!) Sigh. Now, Bonnie Turner's husband is missing and your character must investigate.
Graphics were well done as were the voice overs. Music was appropos to each scene and sound fx were amazing!
Casual/Advanced/Hardcore/Custom difficulties
You have a Diary which shows cut scenes and other notes, a document that shows Active and Completed Tasks, as well as a transportable map.
YES! There is a helper! lol A very cute Red Panda cub! Come on ..... say it ............ aaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww.
HOGs - A combination of silhouettes (that started with a mini game) and list types. I have to say, however, the lists were difficult to see. There IS an alternative Match 3 game to play instead. MINI GAMES - quite fun .... some new. Some required patience and perseverence (of which I have NONE!) But, same problem ........ instructions impossible to see.
Periodically, you will find 'picture hints'. When you find where they belong, you will find a box with a clue inside.
There are 3 stories: I - Lost/II - Sister's Spell/III - Eternal Love. I don't know if they are all interconnected ---- so if you don't get the CE, you won't know how the story ends?
I suppose the storyline is good. It just seemed the game was somehow ...... disconnected. I just didn't feel my personal 'wow factor' playing these demos. That's not to say someone else won't like it. It's just NOT a purchase for me.

CE Bling:
Besides the usual wallpapers and replayable games, there are:
* 50 collectible objects (hm. Don't know what they are) * 72 crystals to find. (I only found 1 per area) * Workshop (I have no idea what's this about)
I suppose the storyline is good. It just seemed the game was somehow ...... disconnected. I just didn't feel my personal 'wow factor' playing these demos. That's not to say someone else won't like it. It's just NOT a purchase for me.
The 'Black Rock' has been found but ............... the 'squad' of people who found it have been turned to stone. And then the story takes you on an adventurous investigation trying to find Louise (of the League of Light).
Graphics were done very well. Exactly what I'd expect in a game. Voice overs were 'almost' perfect - lol. At times, IMO, voices had a bit of an echo. Great music and sound fx.
Very Cool! You can choose your characters voice! Male/Female/None (none? you are no one???)
HOGs were very interactive silhouettes. There is NO alternate game to play instead. MINI GAMES .... well ..... DEFINITELY new and innovative and wow! Did I need some patience and perseverance! We all know I have NONE!
CE Bling:
Besides the usual fare of wallpapers, replayable games, etc. there are the following extras:
* Collect 7 statuettes. * Collect 26 owls (NOT that easy to find) * Collect puzzle pieces (I didn't find any during the demo although it is mentioned in the 'Extras' sections. * Collect 'all the fresco parts' (this is one of the achievements) * There are some very interesting Achievements that I haven't seen before - lol. For instance ..... Answer an Easy Question About the Game. Obviously, you need to finish the game and then go back to Achievements, click on that particular one and ................ and answer the question! lol
I LOVED playing this demo and hated that it ended! I DID have some problems but still am optimistic that a patch will come out and I can purchase the CE, although I didn't find the puzzle pieces OR fresco pieces. THAT might sway me towards the SE. Either way, I WILL own either the SE or CE at some point - lol.
Try NOT to get turned to stone while your character tries to find Louise in Belgium and, as always ....................................
Stacy's bookstore is doing badly and must close down. She will have enough money to open the restaurant of her dreams. How well will she do????
Graphics are cute. Exactly what you'd expect in a fun game. Music was great ..... wanted to get up and dance - lmao. Voice overs were a surprise and Stacy's voice was en point.
3 levels of difficulty: Casual, Normal and Hard (or is it Expert????)
This is a typical high/low solitaire game that has a lot to offer. From the imaginative restaurant backgrounds to having to find items during game play to mini games between 'x' number of levels .... it does not disappoint. You can earn up to 3 stars per hand. Each 'state' that you go to, to open a new restaurant, requires 'x' number of stars so be prepared to replay hands where you haven't reached that achievement. Oh yes!!! There ARE achievements to be earned as well!
Will I purchase it? Ultimately .... at some point. I have soooooooooooo many other solitaire games to get through first! lol
An amusing and entertaing solitaire game that is great for all levels of expertise. Come along and join me 'playing' through the US and ...................
Set in 1979, a plethora (now there's a $10 word if you know how to use it - lol) of fires have broken out in Oregon, resulting in a Mystery Tracker (your character) being called in to investigate.
I liked the graphics a lot. It definitely looked like an area that had a LOT of fires going on. Music was hauntingly beautiful. Voice Overs were very well done as were the sound fx.
Casual, Advanced, Hardcore and Custom difficulties.
There is no journal, so to speak, but there is a map and the 'hint' button does transport you.
HOGs were list-type with some interaction. Nothing too difficult. The mini games, on the other hand, could be a bit ....... challenging - lol.
CE Bling: Besides the usual fare ..... and there is something for everyone here (even me and I tend to NOT go in for the 'extras') ...... there are:
* Figurines - 11 * Puzzle Pieces - 20 * Secret Room (which you can 'finish' more than once according to the Achievements???) * Morphing Objects - 21 (gotta love those morphing objects!)
I enjoyed playing this demo. The storyline flowed quite well and I didn't feel lost in the surroundings, graphics or having too much to do at any one area. The 'extras' certainly offer quite a lot and, although I've read other reviews that say the main game is quite short, I will definitely purchase either the CE or the SE when it becomes available. For those on the 'fence' as I am ....................
The legendary hero Hercules and his wife Megara are back, ready to embark on their next adventure! Restore the world's beauty and save Mother Nature from destruction!
Let me get this out of the way first and foremost.......
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE love this game!!!!! Okay .... just once more ................. TOTALLY LOVE!!!
The gods are angry with Hercules and wanted to seek revenge, but there was a celebration for him first. Go figure. Hercules drank Beer and drank Beer ..... and drank Beer some more ..... during his party and, soon enough, a potion was poured into his cup without his knowledge. A year later, Hercules is so sick he can't get out of bed. The gods are now VERY happy. But, Hercules rises to the occasion and off he goes to rebuild the kingdom which became a desert wasteland during his illness .
I have NEVER seen such amazing graphics in a "build it" type game. AMAZING! The music was a bit ....... well ........ sometimes it sounded like "countdown" clock music which bothered me since I was playing an untimed clock mode. The voice overs were the best yet in this game series.
3 difficulty modes: Relaxed (untimed - YAY happy dance2 ), Casual and Expert.
The gist of the game is the same as previously in this series. Gather wood, food, gold and more resources. Put out fires - yes, REAL fires. Well, not like your computer is on fire .... you get it! Watch \for the hydrant (which will put out said fires) - rescue people (yay) - fix the pointer (sign) (so when you leave you go the right way) and leave that area to go to the next challenge. In the casual and expert modes, you can earn up to 3 gold stars , depending how well you do in each level. In all the modes, you have "bonuses" in the form of an extra man and extra resources.
I was so enthralled with the beta I wanted to stop playing and purchase it immediately! Alas, I had to remind myself that it was only a beta!. But, the gods have smiled upon me this day and RELEASED IT! Finally! Now, THAT'S what I call a darn good demo!
I was confused at times with the storyline so it may not do well as a standalone game. It appears you may need to have purchased/played previous games to understand where this one starts. Otherwise, I was hooked! In fact, I've replayed the beta several times ...... a week ..... waiting impatiently for its release (we all know I have no patience). Join me in rebuilding a deserted wasteland with Hercules and, always .......................
The King has upkept a beautiful garden for his daughter. It always looked incredibly lush and vibrant until there was a dry summer and unusually cold winter. The garden died.
Graphics were good. Music was turned down but I could still hear the little gnomes' footsteps as they ran to complete their tasks! WOW! COOL!
This is a typical 'build-it' type game with very little in the way of a tutorial so I think beginners may find it difficult. Intermediates and Experts will thoroughly enjoy it IMO.
Is it a purchase for me??? Honestly, I'm still on the fence.
Graphics were well done. I LOVED the music .... it was perfection. Sound fx were good as well.
There was no choice of difficulty. The 'tutorial' seemed to last through several levels and would also pop up when you weren't expecting it.
This is a typical mahjong game with an ongoing story along with it. So, why am I so disenchanted with it????
* Too much talking/reading. Like, seriously, W-A-Y too much!!!!! * It hinted at possible HOGs (hidden object games) and 'hints' and 'clues' but nothing surfaced .... ever. * There is NO 'skip' button so you can't bypass all the talking.
Otherwise, typical game with a few more bonuses to use during game play that you would ordinarily see in a Mahjong game. And THAT confused me. Huge sigh. You have an entire 'wall' of bonuses but the minute you use ONE, all the rest go 'blank' and can't be used.
I love mahjong. I love it more when there's a storyline. I love it even more if it flows well. So, check, check and check .... it has everything I love ................. with excessive reading/talking/boredom which is a dealbreaker in this case.
A DEFINITE no purchase for me. Would I recommend it to anyone? Nope.
Graphics are very well done. Definitely what I'd call a 'party' atmosphere. I can't comment on voice overs, music or sound fx because I had it all turned down. Bad me.
This is your typical Mahjong with a fun, new twist. As the name indicates, you are playing in a 'hotel' with each of 5 doors on each floor being 1 of several types of Mahjong games. You can get up to 3 stars for each successful game ..... but you can also 'time out' if you don't finish the game quickly enough. Too bad ............ so sad. That was the deal-breaker for me.
This is obviously from the makers of Hotel Solitaire because, except for the title of the game and the type of game being played, all the precepts are the same. Work your way up to the Rooftop by successfully 'passing' each door and each floor on your way up .... and up ..... and up!
I own several Mahjong games from BFG. Unfortunately, I tend to dislike games that don't have an 'untimed' or 'relaxed' feature. I like my Mahjong games (as well as other games such as solitaire, riddlers, etc.) to be more relaxing ..... without the stress of having specific goals to meet that might be impossible .... for me. There really isn't a storyline here but you don't need one at Hotel Mahjong in order to have fun!
I would recommend this for intermediates and experts as opposed to beginners because I don't think the tutorial leans towards a beginner.
Jump right into the amazing game play at the Hotel Solitaire and ................
