This is yet another mosaic game in the Asian Riddles series. IMO it's gotten better.
The graphics were pretty good. No color, unfortunately, which I like. It was fairly bland. Filled blocks were red. Unfilled blocks were grayed out with an "x". The music was appropriately Asian but no matter how low I made it in the "Options" section it continued to be quite loud. The sound effects were ok but when you made an error, it wasn't very noticeable by sound so be careful - lol.
The gist of the game is to fill in the blanks using the numbers on the graph. Once the blanks/boxes are filled in, a picture emerges. I did have trouble, most of the time, discerning exactly what the picture was and there was no "title" of the picture when you were done. So, you either knew what it was or were left in the dark, so to speak.
The first 3 or so levels were a tutorial. Afterwards, you were pretty much on your own. There are "hints" and you can only make "x" number of mistakes and then you have the choice of replaying the level or not. Each mistake you make causes you to lose a star at the end of the level. Complete a level with no errors to get 3 stars (they're not even gold - whatever).
Even with the tutorial, I would not recommend this for beginners. It took me many games, most of which frustrated me, to learn how to play this genre of game. And that included failing miserably at Asian Riddles 1 and 2 - lol.
While I did enjoy this game and found it somewhat entertaining for my brain, it will not be a purchase for me. Mainly because of the lack of coloring. IMO, had more colors been used, the pictures that emerged in a completed level would have made it much more recognizable. I do. however, recommend intermediates and experts give it a try.
This game is so NEW and EXCITING and FRESH and INNOVATIVE! I can't say enough about it.
The graphics are great! Every little strand of the spider's web is visible....even the little "knots" between lines. The music is Arabic, which was appropriate to the storyline. I was disheartened that there were no voice overs or even a narrator but that everything had to be read.
This is a new take on an old favorite of mine ... a Match 3 game. You have to get from Point "A" to Point "Z" by making matches of 3 or more like items. But, your character will only move/walk on golden tiles. So, make sure the path leading to your "Points" are always golden. You can also earn bonuses (which you will REALLY need) by collecting treasure chests along the way. Of course, these chests will be outside the path you would normally take.... DETOUR! lol.
The path of the game starts by clicking on a "temple". Once inside, you click on "rooms" and that's where the fun is! There is also a bonus game where you race your "scarab" against 6 others. This takes a lot of dexterity so imagine my surprise when I won first place in my 2nd race! GO ME! If you win, you get another bonus.
Hold on to your bonuses until the end of your "temple" run where the "big boss" is. You will have to beat Mr. McShady to the exit or you have to replay the level. And nothing stands in McShady's way as it stands in yours!
I LOVED this game but took 1 star away because of no voice overs/narrator and the difficulty I had beating McShady at the end of each "temple" level. Otherwise, it's a big 4 3/4 stars for me.
Unfortunately, even though I LOVED this game, because of the reasons stated above, it won't be a purchase for me. The stress of beating another character to the exit isn't fun for me. I like my match 3 games to be more relaxing.
I do, however, recommend it for everyone of all ages. It is fun, fresh and entertaining!
I really wanted to like this game ... even the 2nd time around since I disliked it when it was released as a CE. But, no such luck. In any case, reviews really are just our interpretation of the game, right?
In the Opening Scene, a father is seen calling on an evil being (the devil or a minion?) to "heal" his sick daughter, who we later learn is blind. A price must be paid, he is told, a high price. And he reaches for the evil being.
Graphics and Sound: So disappointed. The graphics were partially good (not great) and then they get grainy and hand-painted looking (especially at some of the character close-ups like the Policeman at the very beginning). Voice overs were less than par, lip syncing not consistent with mouth movement which made the entire game disconcerting to me.
There are 3 difficulty modes - alas, no "custom". A journal that is absolutely useless! It says in the tutorial that it contains important notes so check it often. I checked it often, alright, and it contained pictures (like wallpapers) and newspaper articles you picked up on the ground, etc. that you can't even read. I was so surprised I rechecked to see if I was, indeed, looking at my journal. If you press the button at the bottom of the page, you get a "movie" of the picture where that particular one was from. So, keep your pen and paper handy because the first time I needed a "note" for a clue it wasn't in the journal and I couldn't go back to the mirror to get it again. There is also a "magic" mirror you acquire to talk to the "Huntress". Which I also didn't understand, as she was just ... right there anyway.
The HOGs (hidden object games) I came across were same old, same old list items (with an alternative match 3 game) or find "x" number of whatever. Mini Games weren't challenging or entertaining to me.
Immediately at the beginning of the game play, I felt a strong sense of deja vu. I KNOW I had been to that same pond/lake area in another game. In fact, I was so sure I checked to make sure this was a NEW game.
The flow of the story was confusing.and made no sense to me. Ok, dad disappeared years ago and now the daughter is the Huntress. Why is she a "Huntress" if all she did was look for missing dad? Overkill? Now there are others disappearing. Ok. Get it. But years of "hunting" for a missing person does not a "Hunter or Huntress" make. That implies searching for animals, monsters, vampires, whatever, for an extended period of time. Again, disconcerting. I also "get" the storyline started off well with the disappearing people after the dad/evil being thing. But, then, we add "monsters attacking the town", strange ghost kidnapping people, and wild animals! And then, to top it off, a Huntress. Too many stories in one.
I really wanted to enjoy this game, especially since the CE Bling didn't impress me with the previous release. Unfortunately, it still won't be a purchase for me. It's just too .......... awful. I can't even really recommend it. Well, ok. If you've taken the time to read this review, you should probably play the demo and form your own opinion. But, I'm not going to check the "yes" box for "recommend". Nope. Not gonna do it.
Holly goes looking for her daughter because she thinks she's forgotten her (Holly's) birthday. Really??? She then finds a note from her daughter (who has no name) saying she's found a way to go into a fairyland and leaving mom with instructions. I'm sorry, but "mom" didn't seem all that much concerned, even though she did go after her daughter (probably worried someone would call and report her if she didn't). I was not amused.
The graphics were absolutely amazing. The colors so bright and the items perfect down to the lines on the stems of grass. The music was cute. No voice overs. Everything had to be read. The storyline also didn't flow very well.
In each level, you have to find a variety of items. For instance, one level there might be a list of items to find. In another level, there might be "x" number of a certain item to find. This is, of course, an HOG (hidden object game). It would have been nice to throw in a few mini games to end the monotony of the game play.
The items you have to find are often very difficult to see because they are either too small, the same color as the background or too well hidden. I'm all for "hide and seek" but please take into consideration the very young and very old eyes.
I also dislike, intensely, any game that gives you a limited number of hints to begin with and then forces you to earn additional hints. I wouldn't purchase any game that does that.
Unfortunately, for that reason, and many others stated above, this will not be a purchase for me.
Perhaps those with sharper vision than mine will find this game ..... more entertaining.
This is for all you Awakening fans. Sorry, I own them all as I purchased them for my daughter but I've never played them. Maybe someday. In the meantime, I played the beta of this game and also the newly released CE demo. So, this one's for you! LOL
Wow! Talk about twist and turns and turns and twists! I don't even know where to begin. My head is literally spinning. First of all, the beta was so incredibly long I thought it would never end ... that tells me this game has something we all long for ................... length! Smile:
Before the birth of Sophia (we all know her, of course), humanity lived in peace and prosperity. Happiness abounded everywhere. This time of peace was called The Golden Age (isn't that what we call it when we hit our "golden years"?). Until one day, Minotaur Soldiers invaded the small town and captured townspeople as their prisoners. YOUR character is Sasha, a friend of Caity and Cedric. As the 3 of you flee for your very lives, the excitement begins!
I think the graphics are a vast improvement over past Awakening games (I've played the demos). The voice overs were good but NO LIP SYNCING??? Really??? Sigh. The sound effects were also pretty good. The music during the opening scene was beautiful - a melodic flute - sigh.
There are 3 difficulty levels (Villager, Ranger and General - isn't that cute???). There is a transportable map, which you must find and restore. The restoration process is so AWESOME!!!!! Had so much fun! Sasha gets an All-Seeing Pendant, which makes hidden things visible when you see an "eye" somewhere. That's pretty amazing too because of the things that pop up behind that "eye". There are also "plus" items that go into your inventory so don't forget to check them twice! And, apparently, every "human" has a specialty. Cedric's is ... fire and does that ever come in handy. And the "hint" button? OH MY! It STARTS out as the silhouette of a bird - an unrecognizable bird - all black and yech - black? Seriously? Well, later in the game it becomes a "Hoopoe" and THAT'S all I will say about that! Ya gotta play the game to check out all these cool things going on. Just sayin'.
There were not as many HOGS (hidden object games) as there were mini games IMO (oh, man, mini games EVERYWHERE, even in the HOGs!). But, they were varied (the HOGs now, we're talking HOGs - don't let my reference to mini games throw you off, we'll get to the mini games - lol), sometimes an interactive list - sometimes ... well .. not lol. So, varied HOGs. NOW, we'll talk mini games. Like I said, only EVERYWHERE! Fun, fresh and innovative. And, oh yeah.... you're gonna love this .... before you can actually play some of the mini games ..... you have to solve a riddle! No worries .... I found them very easy .... well .... maybe - (wink). I will say this .... very ingenious some of the things the DEVS thought up.
Besides the usual CE Bling (concept art, music, replayable games, strategy guide, bonus game) there are collectibles. Not sure how many, but I "think" there are 46 fairies. No morphing objects. Boo-hooo so sad for me (crying face).
Now, the mysteries of the game. What?!?!?! Cedric is really who????? NO! (SHOCK) And General Claudius? Is he really a "good guy"? Why did the Minotaurs attack the peaceful village??? And, really, what's the REAL story about Longhorn the Minotaur Soldier? There are LOTS more questions and all these and more will be answered during the game play. The demo ended with a REAL TWIST! WOW - even I wasn't expecting that!
I believe that this would make an excellent standalone game for those non-Awakening fanatics that own every game. (I SAID I got them for my daughter - that's why I have them all - lmao). As the story begins BEFORE Sophia's birth. Maybe it's a prequel??? Don't know, but I would consider purchasing this for myself as the twist at the end reeled me in list a FISH on a HOOK! But, I'll let my daughter play the demo ---- she'll love it and buy it for herself and I'll get to play it anyway ... momma's got to have SOME privileges. ROFL
I hope you enjoyed reading this review as much as I enjoyed playing the demo and posting it for you. I recommend this for everyone. It's a sequel in the series that seems to be a prequel. LOL.
You are going to travel throughout Paris and visit the many sites, collecting travel stamps as you go.
The graphics were ok, not great. There were no voice overs but a LOT of voices ... in the background .... which made me very dizzy. As did the maneuvering around. There's a compass ball at the bottom of the screen which you need to move up, down, left and right to move around the screen ... up to the sky .... down to the ground .... and all around. This is how you find the items on your list. I got very dizzy moving around this way as well.
Once you find all your items, you get a stamp and are on your way to the next stop.
If you like games that are strictly hidden object games, you will love this game. You will also love it if you are a beginner. Experts and Intermediates might enjoy playing it on the "timed" mode for a greater challenge. There are only 2 modes of difficulty - timed and relaxed. No journals, etc. There appear to be a limited number of hints and no way (that I could tell) to earn more.
For the above reasons, this won't be a purchase for me. But, I will recommend it because ... well .... what do I know anyway - lol.
I don't know if there are any previous "Rescue Team" games. I'm going to assume so since this is entitled "4". That might explain a few things ... for me anyway.
The graphics were pretty good. The music ok. No voiceovers. Also, no tutorial. You CAN play in "relaxed" mode. You can also choose to get hints (these changes can be made in the "options" area).
The premise of the game is to rescue people. Build cafes, gas stations, buildings that make you money, etc. Send off your workers to build, rescue, repair, whatever is necessary. It is a fast-paced game but, unless you've played this tyupe of game before, you will be lost. Totally and completely lost. As there is no tutorial or instruction given as to what you are supposed to do.
I found it rather boring and probably would recommend this game for beginners to the genre of game (although, again, there is NO tutorial) or to someone who just wants mindless fun. And, I use the term "fun" quite loosely. I didn't find anything about this game "fun".
So, the family is finished with their trip to Rio and are off on their next adventure to .... Istanbul. Unfortunately, one or more of them thought they would be riding ............ camels. Go figure. LOL.
The graphics were good. The music appropriate for Istanbul. Catchy. Not boring. Didn't put me to sleep - which is saying a LOT these days. No voiceovers.
Of course, this is a game of HOG after HOG after HOG. It is, after all, an HOG game. The objects weren't too difficult to find but did get progressively harder as you leveled up. The mini games are between each HOG level and are the same old, same old. I didn't see anything new.
In each HOG level, there are up to 3 gold coins that act as various types of bonuses. Keep your eye out because they will accrue throughout the game and as it gets harder, you will need these tokens. There is also a hidden camel. 60 to be exact and 59 "coins". Not sure what those are but it was made mention in the Achievements.
I haven't been impressed with these games ever since I realized the game repeats itself on a loop several times. For instance, are there really 60 sites worth seeing in Istanbul? Probably not. Therefore, you will go back to the beginning and work your way to the end at least one other time, maybe even twice. I disliked that in previous versions of this game and it's why i won't purchase any more.
Also, I passed 15 of the 60 levels. 1/4th of the game I passed during the hour-long demo, and that includes the 14 mini games between those levels. That's a total of around 29 levels. So, this would be a fast game for me. Another reason why I wouldn't purchase it.
I think it's great for beginners and those who like a good adventurous trip around the world but can't get there in real life.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Blue Madonna: A Carol Reed Story
Local painter Christina Falk asks Carol for help regarding some strange recent occurrences. When Christina is found dead, Carol is drawn into a 600 year old mystery.
Ok, so I get the instructions and how to play the game ... sort of. But when I left the house (finally found the way out) and click on the Museum on the map (where I'm supposed to go), I keep being told that I don't need to go there until "tomorrow". What, then, am I supposed to do until "tomorrow"?
The graphics were horrible. I don't know how old this game is but the graphics lead me to believe it's older than I am and I was born pre-computer age. The voice overs were so tired and stilted and had no inflections whatsoever. "OH NO THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!" would have the same tonal quality as "oh, I forgot my sweater".
Amanda wants to enter her sticker book into a contest to win $5,000 but her brother destroyed it. Help Amanda rebuild her sticker book.
This is a match 3 game. At the top of the page is a "leader" board which indicates how many of what particular items you need to match. For instance, 25 lollipops, etc. You also need to destroy all the brown tiles.
You do earn bonuses, however, use them in the level you've earned them. Otherwise, they go bye-bye. Use them or lose them! Would be nice if they accumulated from level to level.
I think this would be a great game for children. Adults, experienced M3 players .. not so much.
Not a purchase or a recommend. This game is slow-moving and terribly boring.
