This solitaire game plays very similarly to a game of bowling in that there are 10 games (or rounds) you need to play with the highest score possible in order to pass the "Tournament".
The graphics are nice. In "options" you can choose from a variety of card backs. The music reminded me of "Every Beat of the Heart" - lol. But, with bells or cymbals included. Or, maybe that song was just in my head - lol. The sound effects were diminutive in that I didn't pay that much attention to them
There are 2 types of "Tournaments". In one, you can replay your hand - any hand. In the other, you have to replay the entire game. You have to play the first type in order to unlock the 2nd type of game play.
In a "Tournament", there are 10 hands/rounds of game play. There are "x" number of "special" cards in each hand/round. You MUST use those special cards in order to get a perfect hand/round. That's what determines your score. If there are 4 special cards and you only get/use 3, you do not have a perfect hand. You can then choose to replay the hand or continue to the next hand/round without having a perfect score, which lowers your overall Tournament score.
Sounds confusing, I know. Solitaire is NOT my best game to describe - lol. But, it is not and is quite entertaining, if not for the monotony and boringness (is that even a word?) of playing the same type of solitaire over and over. The types of "games" you play never varies, making it ...... boring.
You can earn bonuses that will help you during your game play, as well as purchase them during the game. They are a mulligan (go back a card), shuffle, and a joker. They DO cost so purchase them and use them wisely.
So, that's it in a nutshell (or not). This won't be a purchase for me because it was just monotonous playing the same type of game all the time with no change-up. It's strictly "high/low". There is no story line - which could be nice. I think I already own the best solitaire game on the BFG site anyway - lol.
If you like a game of solitaire that doesn't take a lot of thought, or you are just getting into this genre of game play, this would be a great game to try.

Well, I've now played both the CE and SE demo versions of this game and I still really like it. Not "love" it, but really, really like it. I even played the beta game and I seem to enjoy it each time I play it. Hmmmm. Maybe if I play this demo again I WILL love it. lol
A little boy is shoved into a basement room and told by his "step-father" to stay there because "they" will be there to "get you soon". Uh-oh. That sure doesn't sound like it bodes well for the little boy. Then, a man walking down the street feels compelled to make a call ...... to Child Protective Service. Giving nothing but a report of possible child abuse and the address, the man hangs up. Why is Kevin (the little boy) saying the words as the man in the phone booth is???/ Hmmmmm. Your character, the CPS worker who took the call, rushes out to the given address and is told by Kevin's stepfather that he hasn't seen him in a while. Yet, your keen eyes see things in the living room that make you suspect that isn't quite the truth - a child's backpack, a tray of partially eaten food and a dusty picture. You leave with an apology for disturbing the stepfather but .... in actuality ..... your investigation has just begun!
The graphics of the game are really very good. I was impressed with the realism of everything, especially the characters. Music was good but I tend to tune it out so I can't comment more than it wasn't annoying. lol Voice overs were great! And LIP SYNCING! Love a game with moving lips! Sound effects were equally also spot on!
There are 3 modes of difficulty - no "custom" setting here. You have a diary filled with your notes (it does NOT light up, sparkle or go "BOO" when something new is added), but it does contain useful information and your new "task" is shown above it after you've completed the current task. There is a transportable map, which did come in handy.
The HOGs (hidden object games) were the usual - silhouettes with interactive properties. Nothing was too difficult to find or figure out what to do with. The mini games were varied between same-old, same-old and fresh and fun, even the not-so-fresh ones. I wouldn't say there is an over-abundance of either HOGs or mini games.
The concept of the gave is fairly simple. You find Kevin locked in the basement and basically break in and rescue him. You try to call the police but guess what? The Police appear to be involved in whatever is going on! NOW your adventure really takes off running ............. with Kevin in tow. First stop, a motel to rest and think.
Who exactly is Kevin? He told you he DOESN'T have parents? Why not? Why is the step-father raising him? Or is he? Maybe he just "has" him??? Who is "coming to get him"? and who are the men in black masks chasing the CPS Investigator AND the boy? All these questions, and I hope more, will be answered in the game.
I have progressively enjoyed the game each time I play it. Although I did not think it was CE worthy .... for me. It is definitely interesting and feels like a television or movie ... with a young boy (who has some telekinetic abilities), a CPS worker who is on the run with him, fast trains, car chase scenes and much more.
I decided when the CE was released to wait for the SE and I'm glad I did. This isn't an HOG or mini game heavy game. This is a very classicly made Adventure game. Enough with the games and puzzles - concentrate on finding out about Kevin and trying to get him to safety. It's not a difficult game but I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good story with a lot of adventure going on.
Come along and let's save Kevin and find out what else is happening in Paranormal Pursuit!

This is a unique twist of the old match 3 game.
The graphics are good. The colors easily identifiable. The music soothing and quite relaxing. There are no HOGs or mini games to break up the monotony of game play.
After each "dragon board" is completed, you receive a "dragon card" bonus. You can also purchase these during game play. I never figured out how to access them to use them.
The goal of the game is to place 3 dragon scales on the game board and to continue strategically 3 more colored dragon scales until you destroy a group of 3 or more like colors,
While this a match 3 game - albeit a twist of one - it IS a game of strategy. The levels get much harder as you level up. I don't do well on strategy games and, therefore, dislike them. So, no purchase for me (sad face). However, I encourage everyone interested in match 3 games to give this one a try. Maybe there's a bit of dragon trainer in you!
In the opening scene, Death talks about how important it is that when it's your time, you must go. If you try to run, the innocents cannot be born and there will be a rift in time.
Graphics were just ok. I really dislike that magic blue crayon DEVS seem to need to try to represent a snowy evening. Ugh. Voice overs were great. LOVED the voice of Death. Can't comment on the music. It obviously didn't make much of an impression on me.
There are 3 difficulties: casual, advanced and hard core. I choose to play the demo on casual and opt for the Tutorial so I can get a good idea of what the game has to offer.
There is a diary of sorts. You must find Death's missing pages of a book. Death gives you several tools during the game to use in your endeavors. One is your interactive map (in the form of a crystal ball). I found the map so intricate it was difficult to use and so just "transported" through the hint button. There is also an amulet that allows you to speak to the dead. The hint button (which is on the LEFT side of the screen) did take a bit to recharge. There is a "task" tab located ON your Inventory tab.
The HOGs (hidden object games), while interactive, were simple list items that were not terribly difficult to find. The mini games were some old variety and some new fun, fresh and innovative varieties. I did find them to be on the easy side. IMO the mini games outweighed the HOGs.
Death is seeking the assistance of your character, a Detective, to locate those people running from their fate, trying to "cheat" Death. Not only must you find those people, but you need to find evidence of their nefarious plans for cheating Death. Good luck.
The first story involves a young woman, her boyfriend and missing women. One of these characters is "cheating" Death. Who is it? And how is he/she doing it? Even though it becomes obvious fairly early on, that IS your task.
I do own the other games in this series. I was unimpressed with this one. Immediately, there was no sense of "let's go here and do this", necessitating the use of the "hint" button a few times. The story seemed disjointed and didn't flow well ..... until you got to the end. There was no indication of how many people you had to find "cheating Death" but I would venture to say not that many as I found a good 1/4 (or slightly more) of the collectibles when playing the CE demo.
I was terribly disappointed in the CE version when it came out. Now, maybe I'm in a better mood .... or I simply have one too many free games I need to purchase. But, considering it's probably a very short game, it wasn't too bad. I admit to being curious as to how others will try to cheat Death.
So, yes, I will probably use a coupon to get it. I would only recommend this game for beginners, as it was extremely easy. Unless you have a PCC you absolutely have to use.
If you don't know what a "cryptex" is, it is a circular thingy that generally has runes or codes or something of that sort that you need to have a specific "entry" or "order" of things in order to open it or make it work. THAT is a VERY generic explanation of one.
This cryptex is also circular and is made up of an assortment of colored and different-shaped gems. (HOW PRETTY!) The goal of the game is to make matches of 3 or more of the same shape and color gem to destroy them. As you do this, the empty part of the cryptex "wheel" will fill up as a new wheel (s) comes down on the top level. Your goal is NOT to let the cryptex wheels get too high or ... game over.
There were no bonuses for getting matches of 4 or more. There WERE obstacles to keep you from making matches. Huh. Doesn't seem very fair.
There are 2 modes of play. Timed mode - where you are given an optional tutorial (TAKE THE TUTORIAL) and Free mode, where you just keep playing until the cryptex wheel gets too high - or you just don't move fast enough - and the game is over.
This game is soooo not for me. I found myself trying to fill up the empty spaces left behind from making matches instead of trying to make more matches. I levelled up with no problem, but it was stressful. I don't like my match 3 games to be stressful. The Free mode was just too boring.
I also like my match 3 games to have a bit of a story behind it. A "reason" to play the game.
For the above reasons, this will NOT be a purchase for me. But, it IS unique and for that reason I will recommend it to anyone who likes a challenge and/or likes a match 3 game.
I chose to play the "dice" mode of play, which was very interesting.
The storyline was a bit weak. A young man enters someone's home to find it deserted. He makes his way to the attic (?), finds an open box and is sucked into it. A "guide" informs him that to get out of the "game" he must perform certain tasks. Then, we roll the dice and make our move, as indicated by the number on the dice, and play whatever is there.
This is a game of HOGs (hidden object games), find the difference, jigsaw puzzles and a vast variety of other mini games. Whether you "skip" the game or pass the game, you continue to move on through the board game you are sucked into.
The graphics were okay although the items you needed to find in the HOGs were almost impossible, as they were tiny or too well-blended into the background. The various other games were none too difficult.
If you like a game with lots of mini games and HOGs but not a strong story line, this will be for you. There is a "hint" button. I found the game too boring for me. The "story" didn't seem to go anywhere. You just ... played games.
Not a purchase. Nor would I recommend it for anyone who didn't have an expiring coupon to use.
Sorry (sad face)
I don't recommend this game.

Magic Maze
Explore mysterious labyrinthine passages, sniffing out riches and mowing down the monsters that try to stop you from escaping!
Your little animal (?) character is plopped down in a maze. The goal is to find 3 different colored stones (1 each of red, blue and green). You do this by making your way around a maze ---- sounds simple enough doesn't it? NOPE!
Because, scattered everywhere around the maze are small, medium and HUGE bunny-looking monsters you have to blast your way through to pass. There are also obstacles such as pointy, spiked things that can, and will, shoot up and and grab you where the sun don't shine - lol. had to turn it down immediately at the "Options" choices. Sound effects too had to be turned down right away. After that, I was on my WAY!
Don't despair, totally, yet, because there are also bonuses. You can/should blast open any crates you see - and they are EVERYWHERE - because they contain all sorts of bonuses (although I hadn't figured out what they meant by the end of the demo). There are also chests (wood, silver and gold) that you can open with keys you get when you destroy the bunny looking monsters. The closer to your colored gems AND the exit, the bigger the monsters get AND the more shots it takes to destroy them.
Don't mistake the large number of small, medium and large gems you find for your 3 colored gems, because they aren't them. Your 3 gems are properly guarded by a whole regime of monsters.
There IS a map on your screen so you can tell where you're going as well as a legend that lets you know when you've found your gems and how many lives you have left. You get 3. You can lose them very quickly as you level up. But, you can restore a low-life heart ... somehow ... I just haven't figured out how I did it yet.
I made it to Level 10 before I lost all my lives 3 times in a row and the demo ended. This is a GREAT game if you like mazes (I do), if you like blasting things (I really don't) and if you like finding treasures (I do). Unfortunately, the blasting of the gun was way too much for my sensibilities so this won't be a purchase for me. But, I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who meets the above criteria (everyone but me).
All the makings of a great Halloween-inspired game. That's what I thought when I played the CE version when it came out and I STILL feel that way now. Even though Halloween is over. lol
The opening scene shows a little girl in a snow globe looking thing, all alone and crying for help. Uh oh, already doesn't bode well for her.
The graphics are absolutely PERFECT! No complaints regarding color use, clarity or anything else. Down to the individual blades of grass. And the way the colors blended so well into each other - PERFECT! The voice overs were also PERFECT! Totally in sync with the lip syncing (pet peeve of mine). Body movements, everything. Music was unobtrusive. Sound effects were PERFECT, from the crows cawing to the sound of the babbling brook.
There are 4 levels of difficulty - casual, experienced, masterful and custom. In "custom", I was a little surprised that we could only change the recharge time on the "hint" and not the "skip". Hmmm. But, to appease us, I suppose, the "hint" could go all the way down to ONE SECOND!
You get a diary, of sorts. It contains images that you click on to get more info about THAT particular item/picture/image and movie clips of the cut scenes. A map that has way too many legends (undiscovered area, open area, locked area, you are here, here is a task) Your inventory will contain a lot of PLUS items. You also get a crystal ball (seeing eye) in order to keep in touch with someone throughout the game - however, I didn't during the demo.
The HOGS (hidden object games) were varied and interactive. None were difficult and there was no apparent alternative game to play. The mini games were fun, some old, some new, ALL so much fun. Don't give up! Some require a little patience and perseverance. Of which I have NEITHER. IMO mini games were more prevalent than the HOGs but not by a whole lot.
GUESS WHAT GANG??? You get ............... a HELPER! The cutest little helper you could ever imagine in a scary-cute based game. AND, you get to give it/her/him different types of clothes/items to use so it/she/he can better assist you in finishing your tasks (what? Are you lazy?) and reaching things you can't. I LOVE this thing/gal/guy. Gotta keep you guessing about something, haven't I?
You have been sent to Blake's Mountain, Ireland. As you're reading the plea for help to find the children who are disappearing, your carriage falls through a rotten bridge and is hanging above a river of water. You fall into the water and swim downstream to find a mother and daughter in distress. Of course, there's also a creepy looking huge scarecrow you have to pass, and an equally spooky looking house. Someone is in this woman's house and she is SCARED. But, all you see is a shadow ..... of a pumpkin??? OH NO! All I can say, is BEWARE of that creepy scarecrow by the river!!!!!
The ONE thing I wish they had added. I sooo wanted to thank my little helper whenever it/she/he helped me. Just give it a little tickle in the .... nope! Just ..... Awww.
This game had me at the little helper, who I DIDN'T know was going to be my helper until later. But, when I saw it/she/he early on, I was HOOKED! No, maybe it was the creepy and spooky atmosphere. Or, maybe it was ... does it matter? I WAS HOOKED! And continued to BE Hooked! This game is MINE!
I encourage EVERYONE to try the demo. It's cute, fun, not really difficult but definitely has that creepy-cute flair. Come along and help ME help the children of Blake's Mountain!
Nebuchadnezzar so loved his wife, Amity, that he built her beautiful gardens. Ishtar, the Goddess, loved the gardens so much that she bestowed Babylon with peace and harmony. Until Nebuchadnezzar's attention fell away from the care of the beautiful gardens and more and more onto war and destruction. Angry at the downfall of the beautiful gardens, Ishtar destroyed Babylon and left everything in ruins. \ The goal of this game is to rebuild not only Babylong's palaces and buildings, but to replant and care for the gardens so that Ishtar will once again be pleased. But, if only it were as easy as all that. Not a chance.
This is a typical match 3 game in that you match 3 or more like flowers (it IS all about the garden). Match 4 or more and get bonuses in the form of coins, manna (to use spells such as fireballs), water, pest repellent and more.
You use your coins to rebuild the ruined Babylon. But, you must also plant 7 gardens AND keep them pest-free and watered sufficiently to please Ishtar. If Ishtar isn't pleased with your gardening skills, she will reign down her destruction ..... again.
The music was very relaxing. The graphics were superb. But, I am NO gardener and even in this beautiful match 3 game (which I loved) I couldn't keep up with the plants and flowers enough to keep Ishtar's wrath away.
I recommend this game for anyone who likes match 3 games, who likes gardening especially and who can multi-task. So, basically, anyone but me. LOL. Unfortunately, I dislike angering Ishtar so this won't be a purchase for me. But, I do think everyone should give this remarkable game a try.
You're on a train ride with your daughter. In a matter of seconds, as you look out your window you see a reflection of a pock-ed mark (ghost?) man reaching for your daughter. But, when you turn to the aisle where you saw him .... he's GONE! Then, the train has some kind of accident on the tracks. It didn't derail (although I thought it should have) but kept on going. Everyone is ................... gone ................ except you. Where did everyone go? More improtantly, where is your daughter???????
The graphics are appropriately spooky and dark. Creepy dark. There are no voice overs which adds to the creepiness. The sound effects are equally ... well ... creepy. Trains on the tracks .... train whistles ..... soul-wrenching screams in the background. Whew.
There were only 2 levels of difficulty to choose from. I played on "regular". The hint button takes a while to recharge. There is NO map. NO diary/journal. NO extra anythings to help you along. You. Are. On. Your. Own.
I LOVE IT!
The HOGs were standard lists with some interaction. The mini games were not difficult.
I LOVED that the demo didn't end before my time was up, but rather my time was up BEFORE the demo ended. I LOVED that there were no special anythings to help me in this game. I LOVED that I was on my own and had to THINK. I LOVED all the creepiness of the game. And, everything the other reviewers disliked about the game seemed to me to give it that extra dark and creepy ambience that games today are sadly lacking.
The more and more I wrote this review, the more I realized I had to change my rating from a 4 (I REALLY liked this game) to a 5 because I really LOVED this game and can't wait until bonus punch Monday to purchase it.
Throw away all your expectations of what this game SHOULD have, or SHOULD be "by today's standards" and just enjoy the game. You truly won't be sorry.
