I bought this game on accident, confused it with another but decided to keep it anyways and Im glad I did because I really enjoyed it. Let it be known, I haven't been a huge fan of ERS for awhile but this game was quite enjoyable. It has 3 subplots and each story is an hour give or take so this game took me a little over 3.5 hours. Not bad.
The storyline in this game is weird. I still can't figure out what gangsters really had to do with it because not all the stories were mafia related but I enjoyed the 3 stories and kind of kept an open mind on the rest of what was going on. Unlike some other reviewers, I felt like the SE had an actual ending. Yes, it was not an efficient ending BUT compared to other SE's I own by ERS this is a definite upgrade. After saving the 3 souls, I felt accomplished so I didn't really care about the rest because as I said the beginning was confusing so the way it ended made perfect sense.
I give this 3.5 stars but rounded to 4. The music repeats and gets annoying. I did like the "new" hidden object scenes but it also had the list. They were spread out quite nicely. I enjoyed the 3rd story the best. I thought the artwork was the best done in that chapter. There was lots to do. I would have liked the puzzles to be a little harder. They were alll so easy even on the most advanced mode. It was like here turn these 2 knobs and WAA LAA you've solved it! which is why I knocked it down to 3.5 stars. Other than that though, it was a pretty enjoyable game. Kudos.
I recommend this game!

Im finding myself drawn more to games that are unique and this one definitely is!! It plays as a normal hidden object game except you can "pull the curtains" and the whole scene changes and you are in an underworld of evil so to speak. At some point in the game, it actually gets dark because its night and the demon world is there all the time. It's your duty to find and rescue your friend who is a journalist. This game took me approximately 4 hours give or take. It was sooo fun, I wish it had lasted longer but the SE wrapped up quite nicely. No need to get the CE to figure out what happens.
I have the 2nd one in this series and I understand it more now from having played this one. This one leads you right on in. I could never get this one to work on my computer but now it does randomly and I am very happy about that :)
There are two modes of difficulty. The music goes very well with the gameplay. There are lots of scenes since you have two per room because of the curtains. The hidden object scenes vary from interactive to putting back the item to just normal lists. There are a lot of different mini games. I did skip a few, not because of difficulty but just because I wanted to keep going with the story and some repeat. Like it has a lot of puzzles that are the ones where you are trying to make all the boxes/shapes stand out or in. I can usually get those after repeated tries but sometimes its just too much so I skip.
There is a puzzle to solve the game and its kind of tricky...took me awhile to save my friend.
All in all, this is a great game. Enjoy!! Love Orneon & their games xx
I recommend the 2nd one in this series too! I like it even more because it has elephants! my fav!
I recommend this game!

I LOVE elephant games but this one failed a little for me. I usually love this series but the last two have just had the worst storylines. Detective games should be scary and keep you on edge the entire time. This one did not have me on edge. I played on advanced mode. I am sooo thankful I didn't buy the CE as this game only took me 3 hours roughly to complete. I did skip a few mini games but even if I had played them I would have been at 3.5 hours...
The live actors were nice and so were the voiceovers. I would have liked some better character development. The evil guy wasn't really that scary and his intentions weren't really that clear except for him wanting to be beastman. This left a lot of questions. Maybe the bonus chapter summed it up but his plan definitely didn't scare me or make me care about saving the town.
The mini games were unique. The hidden object scenes were lovely as elephant games usually are. I would have like an option to lock the inventory so it didn't keep going down. I really like games that have that function. I would really like a mystery trackers game that was out of the snow...and didn't have weird cloaked guys running around. Im starting to feel like I am just continually playing the same game...same bad guys...Id love a REAL LIFE mystery, something truly scary, evil and that could happen...I just feel like this story line was played out and the game didn't really develop the characters enough for me to care who I was saving or what I was doing...
I did like the helper though...fire lizard and elf.

I usually like BLAM! games but this one fell a little short for me. The story line is really dumb and not scary and it should be considering there are lots of spiders and personally spiders creep me out but there was nothing creepy or scary about this game. Just large mechanical spiders walking around. Maybe if they had been REAL large spiders walking around, I would have been scared but these looked soooo fake! The story line about the black widow, I haven't seen done much but they just didn't do it well IMO.
The music and graphics were quite nice. Nice atmosphere.
The voiceovers were the WORST I have ever heard!!! They are sooo slow. Its like the people forgot what they were saying mid-sentence and then started up again. I speak faster when Im sleeping for freaks sake! The story line drug on and on because of this. Yes, I could have turned them off BUT its the kind where they are giving you objects and the characters are moving looking for stuff so without the voiceovers and the slowness of them and so therefore the slowness of the scene, it would have been even weirder with them off.
This game was kind of short which was fine by me. IF this had dragged on, I probably would have rated it lower from sheer boredom. I can't name just one reason it was so boring. There is just something missing for me. Its H0 heavy especially near the end. I played the scene twice without even leaving the room...not okay. Also, there is a puzzle at the end which in my opinion was quite hard to solve the game. I ended up skipping it. I hate when developers leave the hardest puzzle til last. In this game it wasn't needed anyways to "destroy the evil plan". I kept hoping there would be a plot twist...nope.
The pros for me are...the inventory box had a button to keep it locked and upright at all times. I love that. And the music/graphics were great. The H0 scenes were interactive so thats a plus but the horrible voiceovers, bad story line and boring interactions killed it for me.
It was OK...not the worst game I've ever played BUT this developer's other games are 5 star awesome games, so this one just does not do them justice.
I don't recommend this game.

WOW! Elephant Games just has me in awe with what they can do! Its breath-taking to play this game. The statues are so life like, I feel like I can reach into the screen and touch them. Some were friendly and had green eyes and they helped you do tasks around the palace and others had red eyes and were evil and wanted you dead or at least hurt. The battle between the archer and the huge statue in the beginning at the plaza was intense! It looked and sounded real. Just amazing.
The bonus chapter was short BUT it was so well done graphically that I have no complaints. It showed what elephant can do and what they can do just blows my mind! The things they are capable of as developers leads me to believe we are going to start seeing even more games that blow the mind and by this time next year they will have released some games that make this look old school because if this is the same developer who released Samhain a couple years ago, WOW they have come a LONGGG WAYYY!!!!!
KUDOS!!!! And I LOVEDDDD the fact you got a choice at the ending! After my choice though I felt kind of bad and wished I had chose differently. BUT next time I play it, I'll just choose the latter and get a new close scene!!! YAY Cheers
I recommend this game!

This developer continually puts out high quality games that have the most amazing graphics. Characters that are so life-like, I feel like I can reach into the screen and touch them and plot-lines that are not overdone or cheesy. They bring something new to the table that amazes and baffles me and I hope they make more and more games and challenge themselves to make even more stunning games.
That said, on other sites I've seen this as a CE but on Big Fish, its offered as a Standard Edition, WITH A BONUS CHAPTER! What a great deal! I really enjoyed the main game and the hidden object scenes are absolutely beautiful with great attention to detail. The premise of the game deals with other worlds and wanting to change past mistakes. As always its LOVE that makes the main character crazy, a love lost and wants a chance to fix it. The main game wrapped up quite nicely but the bonus chapter definitely solidified the story for me. The voiceovers were done very well. The whole game was just a joy to play. The music was tasteful and I can't wait to play again...
The only thing that confused me were the achievements...There are achievements to "ask another player to join you". I have NO idea how you'd be able to do that. You can switch between hidden object scenes and Monaco (card game) but nowhere in this game does it have a place to ask another player to join you. I am thinking this might be part of the Collector's Edition that was not offered at Big Fish but I am not quite sure.
All in all, I am not sick of the carnival theme. This has everything one needs to have a creepy carnival, clowns, weird guys, monkey helpers. I definitely recommend this game. It was sooo fun to play!!!!
I recommend this game!

This is perfect game to play after a long and drawn out hidden object adventure game. This is the light version of that and plays very nicely. It is quite linear, not a lot of back and forth going on. Once you leave a scene, you can go back to it as its not roped off but the tasks you need to do are forward and not in the old scenes. It has beautiful music, one of the best aspects of the game. Because the music is so beautiful, it makes the game a real delight to play.
This took me about 2-3 hours and after the last game I played, I welcomed something sweet, short and to the point. This game is a little strange though as objects from the past and present are combined into one. The hidden object scenes have a neat little feature that adds to the cuteness of this game. Love the sound effects it gives off too.
I would recommend this game to anyone who likes the developer VAST (Im a huge fan), wants a time filler game inbetween a big saga game or just wants a to the point, linear, light game to fill their afternoon. I really enjoyed this one. Cheers!
I recommend this game!

I like this game but I also dislike this game hence the average rating. Its another drab, dreary game and the hidden object scenes reflect that. Every one of them is grayish, dreary and drab in some form and the items are sometimes hidden in dark crevices or are so small you don't realize they are there. However, they are HIGHLY interactive, a huge plus for me and very time consuming. There are puzzles within some which makes them more enjoyable but the problem is there are too many of them!! and it makes the game tedious and longgggg. So longggg in fact that it took me a long time to play it due to the tedious hidden object scenes. Because it took me so long to play this game because it felt more like a chore than a game, I lost track of the plot somewhere and I think too that the plot wandered off because it just went on and on and on and on.
There are 6 diamond portals? to open and it takes a long time to find each one. The hint button is the best part as it shows you what scene you need to be in and you can jump there. It also has a map showing where these diamond portals are but know that you'll hit 10 hidden object scenes just getting to them making your task even more tedious.
I personally became so sick of the hidden object scenes I had to take a break from this game for awhile. The mini games were ok and easy to solve but the hidden objects were just too much. I was on the hardest level and there are sparkles and every time Id see them, Id cringe knowing Id hit another hidden object scene. You also get to play each scene multiple times. I think I played one up to three times.
Also, and my BIGGEST pet peeve about this game were the sound effects!! In some hidden object scenes there were flies and the buzz would linger the whole time and since the hidden object scenes took awhile, the whole time it was BUZZZZZZ. Highly obnoxious. And in other scenes, like the electricity falls in one scene and it stays there all game. Every time you go through that area, its this huge annoyance. I hate games that have annoying side effects in their drab games. I get it, its in a trash dumpster but the fly sound effects gotta go. Same with crow sounds, electricity buzzing and other noises that just don't belong in hidden object scenes.
I could take this game or leave it. I would have liked it better if it was shorter, less hidden object scenes and less drab and gray scenes.
It did have an ending that satisfied the story but it took me a longggg time to get there.

This is one of MY most frustrating, boring and just plain blahhhh games that I now own. I think I remember getting this as a buy 1 get 1 free CE sale a longggg time ago and I really hope this sucker was free because I would never purchase this for a CE let alone an SE.
For a CE it has no collectibles, no morphing items, no map (it needs a map to jump!!!), a diary that doesn't always write everything you encounter down (so you have to take notes), a "making of" which is really just a lot of pictures drawn together and some wallpaper. You can't see any of the extras until you play the entire game. The bonus chapter is a continuation of the first part of the game. The main game does have an ending but talks about another trial you have to do...and thats what the bonus chapter is, this other trial. So although it has an ending, it also doesn't have an ending if that makes sense. I don't understand why I didn't do it in the main game, had I, there would have been no reason to make this a CE. The bonus chapter revisits all the sites you saw before except for one part which you will realize playing the main game where the bonus will take place. The bonus chapter is alive and colorful which was a nice difference from the dreariness and drab of the main game.
This game has more hidden object scenes then I felt were necessary. Its a game where you do a Hidden scene, then go to another scene and do another hidden scene and so on. I would have rather seen more puzzles than hidden object scenes, but thats my personal preference. You revisit the same hidden object scenes at least twice if not more and all of them are drab and gray and dreary.
What really just annoyed me was the plot. It became clear after awhile what was going to happen, that part is ok but the corniness of the music and the "philosopher's stone" amulet thing was just too much for me. The plot went off course somewhere in the middle of the game.
I did like though that there was an option to turn off the voiceovers. I kept them on because they were ridiculous and it was worth a good laugh. There are real actors in this that you "save" throughout. All of the actors had the same voice except for the women who still had a ridiculous voice at that. There was just no reason to have the voice sound the way it did.
All in all, the plot was predictable, overdone and boring. This is a new developer I assume since I've never heard of WorldLoom before and it was a good outcome considering what other devs give us. It was in widescreen and had custom options but it was just too dreary, too much back and forth (needed a jump map) and the ending/voice overs made this game too corny and lame to really recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

Besides the beautiful, lifelike graphics, there is nothing appealing about this game in my opinion of course. This is played like an adventure game but its wayyyy too easy even on the hardest mode. I do like however how you can customize the gameplay but there's nothing real special about this game. I have no issue with religion type games so I don't know why the ending had so many people worked up. By the time I got to the ending I was just so glad it was over that I was fine to happily kill someone.
This developer has me a little confused. They obviously want to do adventure games but are trying to appeal to a hidden object player as well since in the easier modes, it tells you what items you need to pick up but this either or kind of gaming doesn't work for me. Some games do a nice cross over between genres but I really want this one to just be adventure and to be harder. All the games by this developer, I like at the beginning and then somewhere down the line, the plot gets murky, it gets easier and then bores me to tears. Id like for this developer to produce an adventure game like "legend of crystal valley" instead of a wishy washy half/half game.
However, the graphics in this game are beautiful. The snow looks and sounds life like and the plants/bushes/objects look great. This game does get dark in a few places and I missed finding 2 angels but honestly until I heard the brother's confession, I had no idea what I was really doing and even after I heard his confession, I had no idea what was really going on in the game or what happened. Beautiful graphics but bad gameplay and plot. Sorry.
I don't recommend this game.
