Final review after finishing the game:
The Story: A hurricane has hit an island. go, clean up! Marsh! Marsh!
The Good:
+ 60 levels
+ interesting idea
+ challenging (missed gold on 10 levels by just a few seconds, thus motivating you to improve just a little)
+ apparently you can move on to the next level even if time runs out - never came even close to that
+ rebuild a (your?) house
The Neutral:
o only three levels with "special goals" (= rebuilding other structures than an inn, a sawmill or a house)
o how did all those people get stuck on a cliff???
o and how do those gems fit into the general rescue theme? Couldn't they have found something else?
o I have been rewOrded at the end! *lol*
The Bad:
- the house was finished by level 41...
- ...thus my motivation took a nosedive...
- ...and I didn't bother finishing with all gold (in the end I had 50 of 60 Gold levels)
Bottom Line: If you like games like My Kingdom for the Princess or Royal Envoy try this one.
I recommend this game!

The skinny: First game in the series, with updated graphics and a new culprit. 5 persons to talk to, three locations (high school, Eloise's house and Maxine's diner), the usual check list is present on Junior level and Ned is the only person to call.
I read the book and found that it was very different to the game for a long time. In the book, Nancy witnesses the "murder", does a smooching session with the school jock while her car explodes (yeah right), Brenda was cut and every suspect has a different motive (for example, Connie has a problem with shoplifting). Also, there is a Russian Embassy involved (conveniently located in Middleofnowhere, USA) and the town is called Bedford.
That said, the game offers the usual ingredients of dialogs and riddles. The riddles usually consist of word puzzles, and none of them have to be solved. Not that great an idea if you ask me, but as we all know, "the developer who shall not be named because otherwise this review will be turned down again" were still learning with this game.
About one riddle, I cut "the developer who shall not be named because otherwise this review will be turned down again" too much slack. I thought that they'd actually managed to put a secret message into the Periodic System of Elements. Like "Carbon", go 1 to the right, find an "N" for the message. Well, maybe in another game.
One really not logical thing: Unless you enter the code first you cannot find the box - even if you know it's there.
Bottom Line: It's not bad, but there are way better games in the series.

Bright, colorful, sweet, christmassy. Sometimes the items are a bit small and hard to find, especially those golden fir cones. However, sometimes they also stand out from the scene so you can click items without even looking at the list - the pizza ingredient level comes to mind.
Special mention goes to the music track of the game. It's just two pieces, but I found myself happily whistling along while solving the levels.
For me there were a bit too many Find the Differences scenes. One riddle ("Find the bag for your country") did not make sense to me - I never heard that we are known for weight lifting.
Bottom Line: It's a wonderful Christmas game. Need something to cheer you up? Get this game. Three stars for limited season appeal, outdated graphics and sometimes way too small objects.

Review after finishing the game:
The Good:
+ good graphics
+ quite good videos
+ hidden objects true to time period
+ a sizeable number of locations in each, ahem, location
+ magic powers (although they aren't used much, "Smash" in only 2 occurrences)
+ "Area clear"
The Neutral:
o voiceovers only during the intro
o only four locations
o big map could have been filled better (read: additional locations, please)
o "Area clear" sign delayed in many screens
The Bad:
- BRUTAL ENDING!!!!
- objects that you will need later on can sometimes not be picked up the first time you visit a location
- BRUTAL ENDING!!!!
- some dark objects hidden in dark corners of a hidden object scene, some items are very small
- did I already mention that the ending was brutal?
Bottom Line: Quite enjoyable until the cliffhanger end. Grab it up in a Daily Deal when the sequel is out, can not recommend it before that.
I don't recommend this game.

Final pros and cons after having finished the game:
The Good:
+ Setting - I liked the movie Twister and it was interesting to learn more about the topic.
+ Good riddles - the number placement to fix the camera was actually pretty easy, then again, I solved a legion of those on this site (in the Online Games section) already.
+ P.G. Krolmeister was very quirky.
+ Land Rush!
+ As usual, little things you find that remind you of old cases - like "Watching Waverley" on TV.
The Bad:
- Date and weather symbols puzzle! Had to look that one up in a walkthrough since the instructions weren't clear at all.
- Phone hints not really helpful this time. "Put three blue circles in corners", or even worse, "Do not use the corners!" Yeah, right.
- Scare factor: Zero. (Only one "frightening" scene, and they already gave away that one in the demo and the trailer.)
Bottom line: Save for one puzzle it's actually an easy game, and might be even a good one to begin. Interesting stuff that I can recommend.
I recommend this game!

Review after finishing the game:
The Story:
Nancy infiltrates a college (as done in the books too) to find out who is getting a bit too bonkers about a scholarship the school hands out to the top student.
The Good:
+ graphics, videos
+ challenges start out easy and become harder later on
+ twists and turns
+ excellent quality for voice-overs
+ air hockey
+ logic trainer
+ lunch game!!!
+ merit and demerit system...
The Neutral:
o ...which is easy to avoid - you really have to mess up to be expelled
o some challenges can be avoided easily, e.g. to avoid Paige set the clock to 11:01 instead of 11:00
o I have played scarier Nancy Drew games
o if you got a bad memory the Simon says challenge can be annoying
o Like the Moon Lake game, no real surprise who the culprit is.
The Bad:
- You still have to take notes for some riddles (music notes)
- Had to consult the walkthrough on the silverware puzzle - the forks and spoons were just too pixely to distinguish one from the other, especially since some were fairly even in size.
- Two puzzles in the basement not logical for me.
Hint: Listen to Nancy's comments after the credits, they are really funny.
Bottom Line: Great Nancy Drew game, which can be really challenging. If you are into school stuff, definitely check out this game! Not for beginners though.
I recommend this game!

Review after finishing the game:
The Good:
+ Graphics vastly improved over Part 2
+ good videos
+ voiceovers (however: not for all characters, couldn't they find a child speaker?)
+ starts out scary (however: the witch loses her scare factor very soon)
+ as usual you have to earn your search list for hidden object scenes...
The Neutral:
o ...however: you only search by word now - no more fragmented or picture scenes
o had to give up frustrated on two riddles (two slider puzzles)
o some micro lags, especially in the main menu
The Bad:
- guidance through the game sub par, and becomes more confusing as more areas open up
- -> it's not a good sign when you have an empty inventory and you have to run around like a headless chicken trying to find a scene with something to do
- hint system outside the (skip-able) riddles and hidden object scenes useless, since it usually just repeats the text from the card below
Bottom Line: Good sequel with better visuals and less diversity than earlier games in the series. Still recommended, but I wouldn't hold it against you if you are waiting for the Daily Deal.
I recommend this game!

Final review after finishing the game:
The Good
+ high quality videos with perfect voice-overs
+ great visual style (I can deal with motions going on in every scene)
+ humor
+ lots to do for boni
+ a CE packed into a regular release
The Neutral
o Nothing really new in the game. You more or less have the same tasks as the first game. (One big scene, three smaller ones, same amount of objects to find, find 5 ghosts, piece together a gadget, solve riddle, mini game, rinse and repeat.)
The Bad
- Mini Games are hit and miss. Ideas recycled from the first game (Tower Defense, the Bakery game has become a hair salon game...). Some games are easy, some games are - for me - impossible to complete (Tower Defense - unfortunately, the walkthrough provided on this site doesn't really help either.) Some games aren't explained well (see: usage of surgery objects).
Bottom Line: If you loved the first one then definitely buy this game. If not, play the first one, then this one!

Finished the game earlier today, so here is my skinny:
The positive:
+ graphics, visual style definitely above par for a casual game
+ engaging storyline
+ ...which was not as creepy as advertised for me, maybe I've seen too much already (as far as babies go a certain season cliffhanger on "Private Practice" was far more creepy than anything offered here)
+ Morphing Objects - and now for something completely different, embedded into the storyline...
+ -> which solved the junk pile scene problem and magically returning objects to already solved scenes problem all in one go
+ Integration of real people (although there was more interaction on 13th Skull)
+ Integration of older games of the series and remainders of solved puzzles
The neutral:
o Strategy Guide: Helpful at times, but sometimes not. Scenes were not always recognized, leading to wild leafing through pages. Same for any object that might have been missed but is used in a given scene.
o Some riddles borderline impossible to solve without a peep of instructions. For example I was changing around domino numbers randomly before I remembered that I liked to solve such a puzzle all the time (with words) when I was younger.
o I don't mind being called a "professional woman" in German in the asylum but it became tedious after the 25th time.
The negative:
- Guidance through the game is sub-par. It's not always clear what to do next.
- Final riddle is impossible to solve since the organ drowns out the given clues.
- DOOR TOKENS! Position it off by as little as one pixel and you get an error. Since this is CE only, way to punish early buyers that shell out more cash!
- Lots of senseless running around towards the end. (see. door tokens)
Bottom Line: A good game that fits neatly into the series with some negative points. I am ready to have this storyline complete now though. 4 stars out of 5.
I recommend this game!
