I had high hopes for the newest installment of this classic series. What I found was a gorgeous graphics covering a dated game. The Art Department gets A++ for their attention to detail and inspired color choices. The rest of the crew let me down. The game is not up to current standards in casual gaming. Nothing new or clever, even the map does not allow you to transport to the site you wish to go to. The story is OK, linear without creativity. The game challenges were easy, again nothing new. The Strategy Guide inexplicably does not appear, silly for the preview, so there is no way of knowing length, etc. or location of the ridiculously overused "morphing" objects. Needless to say, I won't be buying. However, if you are a beginner or a gamer not interested in challenge but a beautiful excursion, this is a great choice.
I don't recommend this game.

I just finished the entire game and bonus. What an extraordinary experience in gaming. Even if no one reads this, I just want to go down as saying there isn't another game out there that takes on the animation that this game does and not just for the sake of it. Animation enhances the story and game play taking the game to another level completely. Bravo to the developers. Keep this level of creativity coming and I'll buy what ever you have. Again, extraordinary!
I recommend this game!

I play HOH games all the time and have been surprised by how much I am enjoying this game. Perhaps I have Olympic fever, but I have been playing this game for days. What saves the game is the bright graphics, sufficiently challenging HOH pictures that change the items with additional plays, and the ability to come in and out of the game with no problem. I have read other reviews dissing this game. I urge you to give it a try while keeping expectations reasonable. I have really enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

This is the one game you should buy this year. Breaking the mold on the typical adventure game, City of Fools is simply the best game of the year. I had no expectation when first downloaded, but quickly purchased, then couldn't stop playing for days until I finally completed it. This is a tough game, but worth the rewards. Constantly entertaining, witty as can be, complex, and challenging. Can't wait to play this again and again. Highest recommendation possible!
I recommend this game!

I know I am late to the review party, but I just finished the game and am simply amazed. It is extraordinary in the amount of detail where not even needed - no skimping on scenes or detail here. Very good voice acting and animation, even in sea creatures that tickle the fancy. The story line is well done with creepy- but not scary characters. I have to say I loved playing this game and even felt totally satisfied after the main game. But don't be fooled. I am on to playing the bonus chapter ASAP!
I recommend this game!

What a disappointment. I had expected this game to be less pedestrian and more challenging than the demo would indicate. I was truly bored. I guess it didn't help that I just finished Final Cut - a game that is complex and intriguing. While I agree with other reviewers that the game is a progression from the past installments in this group, the leap just isn't enough for me. Even for the beginning player, there are far better options than this.
I don't recommend this game.

Played the entire demo as I used to live in the UK and love the UK TV shows. This game, however, is a nightmare. Impossible junk pile searches, no story line to speak of, tedious to say the least. On the plus side, I was happy to see a bright screen rather than gloomy effects that we see so much of lately. This could have been a gem, but misses the mark by a mile.
I don't recommend this game.

I've probably played 100+ HO and Adventure games since joining BF and own more than 3/4 that many. Playing a game and enjoying it as much as I did this one means that it has found unique ways to make the genre different. ERS creates many games and seems to have a formula that works but the desire to create something new. While the story was familiar, the trek to the end did involve beautiful games, games that were new, gorgeous scenes, wild characters, thinking puzzles, and down right fun. Give it a go, you will have a great 5+ hours.
I recommend this game!

After sticking it out for 40 minutes, I had to mercifully put this game to rest. I kept wondering what about the game the folks at BFG found valuable enough to bring it to us. The graphics are bright, HOG has a different approach then many, the cartoon characters a departure from the norm, but that is where the positives end. The negatives firmly overwhelm these positives from the very first minute of the game. When a game opens without the option of full screen, it generally means trouble. This was followed by really tiny items to find. I found myself thinking... make the screen larger and the items larger developers! Add to this disproportionate dialogue and generally sluggish movement and you get a game that is annoying at best. Not a buy for me.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm passing on this game for one reason: it is nothing new. With all the games available, to be a buy for me it has to offer something new. A new concept, new art design, new puzzle ideas, something new to compel me to move forward in the game. Unfortunately, Ghost Encounters: Deadwood offers none of these. It is fine, an OK game that is fairly linear with bright graphics, less bright HOG's , some spookiness, but nothing that says "I'm an inspired game". I'm going to pass.
I don't recommend this game.
