Having really enjoyed "Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's Black Cat" except for the strategy guide, I bought this one after playing the trial. In at least two respects this is a major improvement over it's predecessor. Unlike the Black Cat game, the strategy guide in this one keeps your place and, also, unlike the previous game, this one has voice-overs that I thought were well done. As with the previous game, the graphics are very good and the HOG scenes are good, somewhat challenging, and there are enough of them for my taste.
Now for the negative aspect, which for me was a deal-breaker. I was really liking the game until I got to the Voodoo shop and saw where the player is required to interact with a ouiji board. Had I known what a planchet (sp?) was in the previous HOG scene, I would have become suspicious as soon as it was put into the inventory. Due to my Christian beliefs, I am uncomfortable with occult themes so I immediately stopped playing the game. I wish BF would post warnings to indicate occult themes because the video did not show any. Had it not been for the occult themes and, especially if the player was not required to interact with them, I would have given the game 5 stars. Sorry, but I cannot recommend any game with occult themes. (Just my humble opinion).

I liked everything about the game except for the strategy guide not saving your place. Having to click through all of the previous pages in order to get to the page you want every time is really annoying! Otherwise, I loved the HOG scenes which were a bit challenging at times, and the graphics were very good. I would have preferred voice-overs, however. As far as length, I thought it was plenty long enough for the price. I was really pleased that I came across no occult themes-at least none that I saw. Would I recommend the game? YES!

Sorry, but this isn't for me. I liked the actual game-play, itself and the graphics are very nice as are the voice-overs BUT, AGAIN, there are occult themes-pentagrams, etc. When I got to the dead body lying on a pentagram, I quit and uninstalled the game. That is why I'm giving the game only 2 stars. PLEASE, Big Fish, don't give us SO MANY occult-themed games! Remember, there are those of us who have Christian beliefs and, therefore, cannot and will not purchase such games. I am just asking for a few more games with subjects I can feel comfortable with.
I enjoyed this game as much or more than all the others I've played. I loved the voice-overs, especially that of the hotel owner. I loved the entire game-the hidden object scenes were great and there were enough of them, and the overall game-play was really enjoyable. For once, it was a game without any real occult references which is a big plus for me and, yet, it was kind of spooky, which proves a good game can be made without the occult. And the addition of the match 3 game was a great idea! I think this game should be ranked in the top 10 for the best game of 2010. It was that good!!! Two thumbs way up!!
