I remember how much I enjoyed the Book of Desires and once again these developers have brought us a game that most defintely is a winner in my books.
As I always say, sometimes less is more and while the game does not offer all the bells and whistles we see in recent CE games, it does offer just the right amount of extras to wet the appetite.
Our opening cut scene shows a Native American conjuring up some sinister force against an unknown victim. Our story begins with a nightmare and our heroine suddenly fleeing into the night looking for her boss, only to find him wounded and babbling something about a map, a mysterious client and an evil spirit that is stalking him. And so our adventure begins and our task, find the missing detective and fight the evil curse.
The Case of Shadows offers stunning graphics, wonderful hand-painted artwork and great ambient sounds and effects.
I loved the Hidden object scenes, interactive and some with puzzles to solve and even collectables to find. What thrilled me were the mini-games that I came across during the demo, not the quick to solve puzzles we see so often, but some actually intricately designed that require some patience and just the right amount of challenge to make them interesting.
Our adventure requires us exploring and finding tools for our inventory. We are equiped with a journal and a map that unfortunately does not allow for travel. Nevertheless, there are collectables as an extra treat (50 scorpions that were not so easy to find) and trophies to earn that actually require you to perform tasks. A game that I will play leisurely and enjoy the thrill.
A very well put-together game that not only offers the fun factor but a dark tale that will no doubt bring chills to my spine. Bravo to the developers and thank you BFG for this game that is definitly on my to-do list for tonight. Right after everyone turns in, I will put on the old sleuthing hat, turn down the lights and turn up the volume; what a great way to start off the week-end!
I recommend this game!

Redemption Cemetary is back with a vengence and this time the Developers have really upped their game mechanics. Our story begins on the subway with our cute puppy at our side when suddenly the train stops and we find ourselves at the cemetary which is where our mystical adventure begins. Our dog is taken hostage and the ransom is our help to free three lost souls who have all been taken by untimely deaths. Helping us on our mission are four ravens, each holding a power of the elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire.
There is so much going on, it made my head spin. We have the usual visual and sound styles which have become a signature trade mark for these Developers. Graphics are sharp and artwork well done. Voice-overs are good and as always, similar music soundtrack that is unobtrusive. Game features three play modes and this time blackbar tips are disabled. You are eqipped with a notebook, your ravens and an interactive map that will indicate areas of intrest and will allow you to travel.
There are collectables which you need to retrieve to earn items for your puppy, mini-games to play in order to activate your ravens' powers and puzzles to solve along the way. The HO scenes are interactive and easy on the eye. There are other mini-games to play which vary in difficulty and have enough of the fun element to make this game enjoyable.
As always, our favorite developers have made sure that nothing is left out and they really have gone all the way in this game. Is it enough to earn 5 stars? That is a matter of opinion which will differ according to personal tastes.
I personally found it all too much and wasn't actually thrown over by the game during the demo trial. The storyline was a bit ambiguous and did not excite me. The mini-games for the ravens were quite annoying and broke my game concentration. I would have preferred a Match3 game instead. Collectables were too easy to locate and I really would have preffered morphing objectswhich are a favorite of mine. Trophies are available and I have yet to figure out how to obtain them as I only got through the demo.
All in all, Salvation of the Lost proves to be a very good game but it really comes down to personal taste and preference. For me, sometimes less is more and I found the extras to be distracting rather than entertaining. However I do applaude these developers for their contientious efforts to ensure their games will please everyone. I congradulate them on their continous efforts and progress that they show with each game they put out. I also appreciate them contacting us through the forum and taking notes on our opinions. It all comes down one fact; you just can't please everyone all the time. KUDOS to them for trying though.
I recommend this game!

When I first read Treasure Island I was hooked and since then I love stories that have Pirates in them. Thrill, adventure and romance. While this isn't exactly a romantic Pirae story, it definitely is a spooky story set in the town of Pilgram's Hook. Having left as a chld from this island, you suddenly receive word from your twin brother who cries out for your help. Your adventure begins as soon as you arrive only to find that the island has been taken over by something siniter that is calling at you from deep beneath the ocean.
A wonderful HOPA with extras like collectables, morphing objects, achievments, interactive map and wonderful ambient sounds that make the game come alive at your fingertips. Graphics are relative sharp, but alot of fog and cloudy weathers make for a grim scenery. I love the artwork and after having played the demo, I was absolutely hooked on the game.
Three gameplays to choose from, you can use your map to jump to areas of interest. Voice overs are a bit off as they just could not get the accent right. Nevertheless, the haunting music in the background allong wih the call of the ocean makes for a spooky atmosphere. As with all HOPAs, you have your adventure, your interactive map and a variety of mini-games that were reletively easy but interesting to solve.
The demo trial went by very quickly and as only three chapters are shown in the SG, I really dont know how long it is but I really dont care. This game had me at the first 15 minutes and tonight I definitely have a date with whoever or whatever is calling me to the sea.
I recommend this game!

I really wanted to love this game and have been waiting for a long time for the next installlment. Sadly, I felt a bit let down.
The Empress of the Deep is an enchanting story about a young girl who awakens only to discover she has been asleep for many years. Her mentor and protector, Jacob guides through two games as she discovers her true identity as Empress of the Deep. As with all fantasy, we have a nemesis, Anna's twin sister who is inflamed with intense jelousy and hatred. Her one goal is to stop Anna along with the entire Kingdom. Our story now picks off where we left Anna, in a deep slumber as she is making her way to the lost people of her Kingdom. Once again Jacob appears and Anna finds out that her twin has summond up a giant Collosus who now threatens mass distruction. In order to stop it, Anna must resurrect the Phoenex and to do so, she needs to find the four mystical relics. Hence, our story begins.
The one feature that enthralls me about this series has always been the stunning graphics and artwork. Here we do have the beautiful artwork and most of the time, the graphics are sharp. They do tend to get blurry at times, especailly in the Hidden Object scenes and during some of the cut scenes. There are voice-overs and again the zen music that unfortunately made my eyelids feel heavy. I kept getting zoned out and that seems to be the biggest problem with this game. Its the same music from the other two games, but for some reason, it really became an trance-like, making the game feel slow.
There are three modes of gameplay that can be changed at any time, game features include a journal, a map and an amulet that will store some items that you need to find. The hint system will tell you where to go and what to do. The map does indicate areas of interest but sadly, you cannot use it to jump. However, there are portals later on in the game that will take you to certain locals.
There is a crystal that collects these odd fairies and once charged, will open up areas. There are gates to unlock, mystical items to collect and frequent HO scenes that are slightly interactive. One paticular scene I came across was to locate morphing objects. The HO scenes are packed and surprisingly difficult to play. SOme objects were very well hidden and obscure. I atually had to use the hint and that really is rare with me. The mini-games I came across during the demo were too easy which was a disappointment. I recall that the first of the series was far more interesting and challenging. This game has you constantly walking around and searching for objects. With the zen music playing in the background and the lack of direction, gameplay got a bit tedious after a while.
There is also a bonus section which you can get access to only after completing the game and it offers you a ZEM board game of Match 3. This I thought was sneaky and if I am ot mistaken, we got to play this Match 3 during the game in the first of the series.
I really would have liked to give this a 5 star but sadly I found this game to be dissapointing. Its beautiful to play but very slow and not as challenging as I would have liked. I think that the bonus game is a feable attempt to entice us to buy the CE which is even more disappointing. I loved this series but sadly this third installment did not thrill me as much as the first game. It seems that this game was rushed, graphics change often from sharp to blurred, gameplay is too slow and the challenge is mostly in the backtracking and finding objects to use. However, having played the first two games, I am eager to find out the outcome of Anna's Journey. Will she finally find her family and save her Kingdom and will this be the final chapter of Empress of the Deep.
I recommend this game!

Spring has arrived and what a wonderful way to spend it by gardening with our old friend Austin. Our story continues as Austin, feeling rather homesick, decides to visit his parents only to discover that the garden of his childhood has been neglected. With your help, he decides to hold yet another jumble sale to raise money and bring back the garden's former beauty. And so the fun begins with this delightful and amusing Hidden Object game.
With stunning graphics and amusing interactions with Austin and his parents, you venture off to play a series of Hidden object scenes to raise money and start your landscaping your garden.
Easy play, lots of HO scenes, some tasks that need to be done, and extra coins to find, a real treat for those who love non-complicated hidden object games. I especially love decorating and as an extra treat, you get to earn achievements along the way.
A great time for the family or a guilty pleasure to enjoy on your own. Gardenscapes and Barnyarn games are really a joy to play.
I recommend this game!

The story begins with a very chatty woman in a coporeal state who finds herself in a bathroom. Is she deaf or alive? That question leads her to discover the mystery behind her condition and all we know is that there are two sinister looking men responsible and a sister who needs to be saved.
Actually the story could have excited me had it not been for the game mechanics. Way too much hand holding for me. As we help ELiza through her adventure, she constantly tells us what to do, where to go and how to do it. Plarkles everywhere and non-stop banter from our presumably dead heroine. After 30 minutes of playing, I gave up. Just too easy for me and personally, too many HO scenes for my taste.
Graphics are mediocre and a voice-overs are just a bit over the top. I just wished Eliza would just stop talking.
FOr beginners who want to get acquainted with Hidden Object Games, this may appeal to you, for gamers like me who have long since grown out of these types of games, it becomes a tedious and annoying feat to play.
I will pass and not recommend this. Another game from the archives that just is not worth the time or effort.
I don't recommend this game.

I wan't a fan of the first game in this series nor am I a fan of this paticular game. Everything seem to run so slowly. The graphics were outdated, voice-overs were just Ok and there seemed to be alot of silent gaps throughtout the game which just made gameplay more tedious. I wasn't paticularily enthralled by the storyline and if you dont know who Claire is, it really does'nt matter. Her previous partner died and his daughter has now been kidnapped. Claire finds herself trapped in an abandoned shopping mall and ends up playing cat and mouse with the kidnapper who seems to be a disgruntled villain from her past.
A straight forward HOPA with emphasis on Hidden Object scenes that are repetative and slightly interactive. There is a map which only allos you to travel. However I found myself doing alot of backtracking because the map is a bit vague. Mini-games were too simples and by the end of the demo, ı really was ready to call it quits. This game lacks inovation and technique. I vaguely recall that the first game was a bit more interesting than this with some twists involving Tarot cards. This however lacks complete imagination and in my opinion needs to go back into the archives of lost games. Sorry, but it a no from me.
I don't recommend this game.

At first glance the game looks simple and slightly dated, reminding me of the older versions of HOPAs that first came out. The graphics are sharp but no annimations or special effects. There are no voice-overs, alot of ambient sound and a music that at times boarders on garishness. There are two play modes to choose from and upon chossing hardcore, I was slightly disappointed that there were sparkles for HO scenes and click penalties.
Our story begins with a car crash, an invite to join an old crone for tea and biscuits and suddenly we lose consiousness. Upon waking up, we discover our daughter, Maria, gone and our houseguest is a witch who has a devious plan involving the kidnapping of children. Equiped with only a journal and a very weak hint system, we embark on an adventure that involves a series of Hidden Object scenes that are interactive along with a variety of mini-games that get more complexed as we move on.
Despite its simplicity, the game become more challenging as we move forward. HO scenes are juck-piled, mini-games, athough sim in the task, many become time consuming and even frustrating, offering you a challenging gameplay. Finding inventory items are a times difficult due to the dark graphics, but nevertheless, the game runs smoothly. We suddenly find ourselves in a dark and mysterious world involving black magic and our search for Maria is not as easy as we first thought.
By the end of the demo, I was completely enthralled with this game and enjoyed the many puzzles that need solving. Had the developers applied voice-overs and extra features, this game would have ben outstanding. Needless to say, as a SE version, it offers you a creepy storyline, nice graphics, fun HO scenes and entertaining mini-games. With 5 chapters to complete, I can say that at the rate I am going, I will be spending the next 4 to 5 hours, providing I do not skip any of the puzzles. Lost Tales: Forgotten Souls is a pleasant surprise which many may enjoy.
I recommend this game!

At last, the adventure continues and Trix is back to his old tricks again. I forgot how much that nasty puppet head gave me the willies. This series is a favorite of mine and this latest installment picks up where we left off.
Poor Felicia needs our help once again. Her father, the famous Puppet Master has disappeared and we agree to help Felicia find him. Trix is back to hinder our investigation but this time we have our own little mechanical puppet head who helps us out. Unfortunately, he too gives me the creeps, no matter how cute his head looks. Regardless of that, I have named his Max and he helps me with those far away items.
Once again our famous developers with the bunny logo brings us an execellent HOPA with their trademark graphics, familiar music and possibly the same actors doing the voice-overs. Love them or tolerate them, they continue with the same visuals and I actualy am getting quite fond of them. I still think the first puppetshow games were a little more exciting, but nevertheless, this one does offer some cool extras.
Game features three play modes and hardcore player will enjoy disabling the black bar tips to make the game more challenging. You can also change your level of difficulty during the game. You have a journal with clues, stories and characters. You have an interactive map that will allow you to travel and you have the puppet head helper who retrieves those far away objects.
As always, a standard HOPA that offers adventure, lots of interactive hidden object scenes and m,ni-games that vary in difficulty. Not very challenging gameplay but entertaining as you ponder on. There are collectables whereby you need to locate 10 dolls and then there are the hats that you pick up along the way, fix them up and place on the head of your little helper which makes him look even more creepier.
I enjoyed the demo and although I am unsure about the length of the game, I will defintely be including this latest game to my collection. As always, these developers do make there games rather easy to play but they do continue to present us with interesting stories, amusing characters and there is on acasion the element of fun. While I do wish they would offer some more intricate extras, I do so enjoy some of their games. Puppet Show is a classic and although I still prefer the earlier ones, Destiny Undone is a definte buy for me.
I recommend this game!

During the first 15 minutes I thought that this game was your standard HOPA but to my great delight, as I continued the game complexities made it more and more interesting.
Our story follows Daniel's quest to find his parents who abandoned him and fled for their lives. Having turned 25, he discovers that his parents are on an island that was once struck by a meteorite. Habitants of this island now possess special powers and there is a war amongst the clans. Daniel now must discover his powers and find his parents.
The graphics are stunnings, sharp with fantastic use of colors. There are voice-overs and the music is subtle in the background. Game features a journal that keeps your notes and a list of tasks along with cut-scenes that can be replayed. There is also a map that will allow you to travel and also indcates available tasks. As you move forward, you will also recieve an amulet that will open locks and collect gems that will allow you to control the elements.
The Hidden Object scenes are unique and fun to play. There are interactive puzzles within each scene as well as additional actions that are required to find some objects and others need you to travel through a time portal where you have a second HO scene to play. If you are stuck, you can also select an item and play a word jumble game on the analyzer. ALthough some items were difficult to spot, they were deffintely a break away from your run of the mill HO scenes.
As you follow the story, meet up with characters and solve puzzles, you come across some very entertaining mini-games. One paticualrily brilliant game that was in the tunnel which got me hooked. Having completed the demo, I am now anxşous to take advantage of the Spring Fever discount and spend this grey Sunday morning with this game. Unfortunately there are no extras like morphing objects or achievements but in my opinion the HO scenes and the mini-games make this game a definite winner.
I recommend this game!
