From the time the very first Jewel Match was released (long time ago!), I've been a fan. I especially loved Jewel Match 3 and have played it in "Maniac" mode more than once.
So when Jewel Match IV was released, I was so excited! And then so disappointed. :-( Now there were moving boards, stupid HO games, and the gems had changed (and were smaller).
Today Jewel Match 2-Reloaded was released. I could hardly wait to download it. Surely the developers had finally gone back to the original look of the game. Regrettably, I was wrong. Essentially, it appears to be a copy of the JM-IV without the extras.
Looking at the reviews, I can see I'm in the minority. Nevertheless, I hope the developers will take note and consider returning to the look of Jewel Match 3 in their next release.
I don't recommend this game.

I love Match 3 games -- been playing them for a very long time. In fact, if the option is available, I will play at the Advanced level.
Maybe that's why I'm hard to please when it comes to a "good" Match 3. This one was not good. I didn't even play it past the first level because it was soooo slow.
Also, unlike others, I could care less about the storyline (to me, that's for HOGs, not Match 3), so I can't offer any comments on that.
I rated Sound, Challenge, and Storyline as "OK" since I didn't play it long enough to offer a considered opinion.
I don't recommend this game.

I LOVED the "old" Jewel Match games -- especially JM-3. So when Jewel Match IV came out, I was so excited ... and then so DISAPPOINTED. The TINY icons, the moving boards, the HO sections ... this was NOT the Jewel Match that I had grown to know and love.
Then when I saw that JM: Snowscapes had arrived, I crossed my fingers in hopes the developers had returned to the old style board.
Wrong.
It's basically a repeat of JM IV (except it doesn't appear there are any HO sections -- I didn't play it long enough to find out). I almost wanted to cry.
I admit it. I'm a Match 3 fanatic and the FEW that have been offered lately have, for the most part, been extremely disappointing. It seems the developers don't think adults play Match 3 as most of them are based on very childish themes. The one recent exception is Artifact Quest. There's not a lot of challenge, but at least it harkens back to the more standard style of Match 3.
Needless to say, this is a no-buy for me.
I don't recommend this game.

First, let me say (without bragging, but rather from experience), I am an expert Match 3 player. These are my favorite games and I play them regularly. I do mix in a few HOGs but just for variety.
Secondly, I have played all the other Jewel Match games and especially liked Jewel Match 3 (I've even played the Maniac level).
Not so much Jewel Match 4 (this is based on playing the free trial). The drops are slow and, for me, the story line gets in the way, The hidden object sections can be confusing when you're "building" something and there are no hints for this part of the game.
I was really looking forward to trying this 4th game in the series, but I must say I'm a little disappointed. Sometimes I think the developers try too hard to please everyone.
I am going to recommend this game as I'm sure there are others who will enjoy it. In fact, many of the reviewers have already given it five stars. But for me ... I'm not so sure it will be a buy.
I recommend this game!

Match 3s are my favorite so when a new one comes out, I can hardly wait to play it.
Like others, I played the trial of this game and thought, wow, pretty good Match 3 game. So I bought it. Bad move. The bugs and vines are horrible! Especially the vines. It's nearly impossible to clear them. About the time you think you've got them whipped, you have to pause for a couple of seconds to find a match and boom! The vines eat up a bunch of the squares you've just cleared.
I'll keep plugging along, but I'll probably only play for short bursts in hopes of getting past those nasty vines. Hopefully, they will eventually be replaced with another (less frustrating) obstacle.
Not recommended unless you REALLY like a challenge.
I don't recommend this game.

Now this is what I call a genuine Match 3. I don't have to build a town or listen to a story or put together artifacts. All I have to do is match the jewels, whether it's 3, 4, or 5 at a time (depending on your selected level of play).
The only negative thing about the game (and it's a big one) is the music. It's TERRIBLE. And what makes it even worse? It repeats over and over and over (obviously, I turned it off).
As far as I can tell, there isn't a timer. You just keep playing until you've cleared the board. I could be wrong, but I'm at Level 24 and haven't run out of time yet.
I recommend this game!

Playrix has put out some GREAT games. This is not one of them. As one reviewer said, almost identical to Call of Atlantis (and perhaps Rise of Atlantis? Been awhile since I played it). Once you've played one of these types of games, you know what to expect and thus ... boring. Definitely not a buy for me.
