I'm most definitely not a Hidden Object fan that takes you from this room to that room to another room to find an object. And I'm not big on "stories."
Thus, this game was right up my alley. The hidden objects are all right there in the scene (along with a couple of sparkling areas). I found it very similar to the Road trip and Vacation Paradise games, both of which are included in my favorite games.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the promised Second Edition -- and hope it arrives soon.
I liked the initial version of this game and was pleased when a second one was released. Although not timed, it has plenty of challenges to overcome! And for those who enjoy them, a storyline is included.
IMPORTANT: One thing that players need to do at the very beginning is to "upgrade" TOOLS (before scenes) because you'll need them when you reach a level where the chests are blocked (mentioned in other reviews).
The game-board layout is NOT the same as the first "Crime Stories: Days of Vengeance." It loads differently (falling icons) and the graphic quality is not nearly as good. To me, it has a childish quality to it.
When I saw it listed, I was really excited as I love-love-love the original Crime Stories (working on my third repeat). Very challenging. But this one? A huge disappointment. Thank goodness for the trial option because it's definitely a no-buy for me.
P.S. Developers need to realize that ADULTS play their games as much as the kids and design them accordingly.
I've enjoyed ALL the Clutter games -- some more than others. So far, this seems to be the best one yet. LOTS to choose from and many, many challenges.
However, I'm puzzled (excuse the pun). I want to turn off the timed option, but it seems once you start the game, there's no going back. I've clicked on every symbol there is and they're all related to game features. What am I missing?
I tried the first Road Trip (USA) and liked it. Then Road Trip-Europe came out and I really, really liked it! So when this latest one came out (USA II-West), I was excited.
However, I've been disappointed. Way too many screens with irrelevant information. Plus, IMO, the graphics are not as good as earlier versions.
I enjoy this type of hidden object game far, far better than the "story" ones and hope BFG offers more of them in the future.
I definitely like challenging Match 3 games -- like SpelunKing. However, the part I DO NOT like about this game are the "puzzles" you must complete to collect the talismen needed before you can move to the next mine/level. Although I've collected the satchel and cleared all the squares, I'm currently stuck in mine/level #5 simply because I can't complete the final puzzle.
Note to Developers: Please consider adding a workaround.

The developers just don't make games like this anymore. At least that's the way it seems. I'm a Match 3 fanatic and have been so disappointed with the offerings over the last year or so. That's why I'm on my THIRD playing of this game. And I've been challenged every time!
If you are one that gives up easily, you probably won't enjoy Caribbean Hideaway because as you progress, the levels definitely get harder and harder and "strategy" comes to the forefront. For me, this is what I look for!
It's been a long while since this game was first released, but if you're looking for a challenge, I urge you to give it a try.
Why can't Match 3 developers just come up with simple, yet challenging, games? Seems nearly every M-3 game I've tried lately contains this little trick or that little gadget, a stupid story line, and a bunch of "fancy" sound effects.
I don't think I'm speaking for just myself when I say I enjoy Match 3 games that are just that ... matching icons. Not building cities or gardens or collecting trinkets.
One of the most challenging M-3 games I've played (and continue to play) is Jewel Match 3 in the "Maniac" level. It's nothing but matching jewels during a set time limit.
Anyway, I've sounded off enough for this time. Here's hoping some of the Match 3 developers read my comments. :-)
I love, love, love Match 3 games. While I do play HOGs, they are primarily an occasional diversion. Thus, when a new M-3 shows up, I'm very excited (especially since there are so few of them) and ready to give it a trial run.
Unfortunately, this game is definitely not a buy. In fact, I only gave it about 10 minutes of playtime. I think it COULD be a good game, but the matches were way too slow. For someone who only plays M-3 occasionally, it would probably be ideal. But for me ... definitely a thumbs down.
This game reminded me of another Match 3 that I didn't like. The other one had growing vines (can't remember the name) -- this one has increasing spider webs. To get rid of the vines/webs, you have to match next to them. But what if there aren't any matches? Answer: the vines/webs just continue to grow and before long, you have no open squares left! So what do you do? Sit and wait for the time to run out and then try again ... and again ... and again.
To some, this might be a challenge. To me, it was pure frustration. I'm just thankful I found out during the "free play" and didn't spend my money.
