Just as I was really getting ready to settle in for a couple of hours entertainment, it was over :( A nice selection of games, including card, shape finding and drop 3… I enjoyed it. Nice graphics too. Just wish the game had gone on for a while longer, it certainly had the potential to do so.
You thought this would be just like any other investigation. But now you find yourself lost in a mysterious mansion brimming with strange creatures, comatose colleagues, and mysterious tentacles around every corner…
It's not just me, I thought it was, but it isn't… this is another game that is so lacking in logic that you would be lucky to manage to follow it through without contestant hints. the hint button alone barely gives you any real understanding of where the story is going and just when you think you have a handle on it, it goes off at another tangent that leaves you feeling lost again. The scenes are good, the graphics are great, but there is nothing here i find the least bit inspiring, which is sad.
I found this game in every way entertaining and time consuming. It is challenging, but not to the point that you feel you are a total failure, which so often happens in games that become lost in their own confusion. The hidden object games need some thinking and it is well if you can remember where the found items go. I used the hint button only to find my way around when there were too many choices, other than that I could depend on my own memory. A wide variety of scenes, but each section is dealt with before you move on, which means you are not stuck travelling back to the beginning to chase down something you have missed I found it exceptionally diverting and a lot of fun
I can never go past the Midnight Mysteries. In my opinion they have everything, the scenes are clear, the storyline easily followed and the collectable clovers along with finding the crow for another hint all go to make this game most enjoyable.
I am not left feeling like a total dork because I fail to follow the story or can't find my way, everything is compact and sensible, but loses nothing in the game
There is always one hint, but if you keep your eyes open for crows you can amass even more as you go along. The hint crow takes you along to the next point and never leaves you with the 'there is nothing here' frustrating sentence.
The collected clovers have a count down and an indication that there is one in the scene, so you are not left feeling you have probably failed to find it.
All and all, I feel the Midnight mysteries are among the best of the HO games and this one didn't fail my expectations
The scenes are good and the story is fine, but you do a lot of going back and forth trying to find what you are supposed to do next or where to find the thing you know you need.
There are no collectables or extra games.
Hints will only say "There is nothing to do here right now", so you are pretty much on your own unless you find the Bigfish walkthrough, which you might need sometimes.
I didn't get the CE and after finishing this one I felt it wasn't really worth paying the extra.
If you like being on your own and relying totally on your memory then you will enjoy the game.
It should have been a tremendous achievement, but the tunnel through the Ridge of Leviathan became the site of a great disaster. What really happened that day?
I don't mean the game itself, but the number of times one is meant to use an item in the most improbable way. Just one example is opening a cushion with a potato peeler. If your brain works along these lines, then you will not doubt enjoy it, but when it came to opening the side of a shopping trolley with a tin opener unstead of finding a way of tipping it over, I began to balk at the game. For the rest, it is interesting and the scenes are pleasant, but also pretty ordinary. The beginning of the game promised so much more but it became yet 'just another game' There are three modes of play, a map and a stratagy guide and collectables, which all go to saving the game from disaster. Maybe my brain is too logical, but when I find I have to resort to hints to find out how to open a cushion I begin to feel I am certainly not 'with it'. However, saying all that, it has its good points and I'm sure many people will find it fun and enjoyable.
where I thought I might give it a miss, I have found this to be a very beautiful game. The scenes are all fanciful of course, but clear, colourful and really lovely. The story line is good. No evil beings other than a sister I haven't met yet. There is, eventually a map when the game gets really underway. The diary is useful and the hints fill quickly in casual mode. There are three modes to choose from if you want to be really challenged. Lots of magic and a Key Master who leads you along the way. If you love fanciful and charming, then this is for you.
It's challenging, but not impossible. The cut scenes not too long, the various places fairly straightforward. I was drawn into the game and happy to play along... relaxing and interesting.
