Your librarian friend wants your help as a journalist – he’s found an ancient book that is still unfinished. Can you save the world in the book before their story ends?
I did find it difficult to work out the logics of the story, it jumped about a fair bit and often it didn't make a lot of sense, so I found I had to use the hints far more often than I usually do. To top it all off I missed out on the griffin key, the one that unlocks the leg cuff. There was no way of finding it or returning to see if I'd miss something. I went over and over the area and the story at that point, but no key and so, even so close to the end of the game I had to give up. This shouldn't have happened. Usually if one misses something you can go back and find it, but not this time, hence only the three stars.
Above all I liked the nice modulated voices. No unpleasant American accents here (sorry folks). All the characters were nice and the scenery lovely. It wasn't a hard game but it was entertaining and involving. It was a good length and there was a map to travel by and a baby griffin to fly up and get the high up things. All in all a very enjoyable way to spend some spare hours.
It's all that a hidden object game should be. Relaxing, interesting with good HOGs, games with challenge, but don't leave you feeling like an idiot. Vanishing objects to find, good graphics, a strong story that will, no doubt, bring about more of this series. If they are all as good as this one then we will have many hours of enjoyment to look forward to. Wish they were all as good as this
I recommend this game!

Strange Cases: The Faces of Vengeance
Agent Claire Ellery must rescue her young ward, but this masked kidnapper has set deadly traps in the abandoned mall!
I am three quarters through this game and am hanging on, but I am very tired of chasing 'tarot cards' before playing a HOG as I can see not purpose for them. I get sick of finding or creating 'shapes'… what shapes? There is a misleading game with clocks where the hour hand is shown as the minute hand and visa versa… I couldn't work this out and had to skip it to find out what was going on. It's not well organised and is irritating.
I don't recommend this game.

Nightmares from the Deep: Davy Jones Collector's Edition
Escape the cold incarceration of Davy Jones' brig and discover the otherworldly origins of his galleon in this thrilling Hidden Object adventure.
I loved this game, it does have challenge and plenty of areas to find. It has a map, but you can't travel by it, still the hint button will take you to the next place of interest. The story is clear and uncluttered and follows in a straight line, so you don't forget what you are aiming for. Loved all the skeletons most of them amusing. The HOGs were good and varied. There are hidden items to find and most of them obvious, but don't be fooled, because some are a little less easy to find than you expect so you tend to forget them. All and all I had fun.
Maybe I'm in my second childhood, but I love fantasy because there is nothing sombre or depressing or dirty about it. Emberwing is a happy game with lovely scenes and a nice woman and her son. It would seem they have a connection to dragons and you meet some lovely dragons along the way. The HOGs can be tricky, but I got through them without using the hint button, which is my personal test. You are not cheated by the epilogue being too short, it is just as challenging but, once again, a pleasant place to be. I think this is worth the money :)
The story line is good and the game is excellent but for one thing… no 'expert detective' would be frightened of a snake or squeak every time something happened and would certainly not pick up a hot dish with a wet cloth… for some reason she didn't get burnt! The makers must not make their female heroins so stupid and childish… BUT once I turned her off and read the conversations instead all was fine and I really enjoyed the game. It was fun and relaxing and kept my interest.
Once I found I was expected to comb coarse grass with a hair comb I began to suspect that most of the items I was to use would not really match the job they were supposed to do and this was the case. The visuals were good, the HOs reasonable, but not brilliant as there was some cheating there. I found that the use of the hints and map became necessary as time went on and, in the end, I was, sadly, glad it was over.
BUT, you have to get past the fact that all scenes are of rooms that are totally destroyed and are therefore, dreadfully dirty, drear and haunting. Once underway the story unwinds nicely and moves along well. The map will transport you, There are many different situations and there is very much a mystery, although I think a lot of people will suspect most of it from just about the beginning. I did find it hard to keep going amidst so much ruin and there was little to relieve it. The worse bit of all, is just as you are really settling down to it you find it is PART 1 of 3 separate games and now one has to wait for the next instalment. No bonus game, which I found unsatisfactory and also I discovered that in a couple of the HOGs one shell was not the one required and a toy weapon was not right, although there was selection of 3 toy weapons. From my point of view there was nothing very scary, more morbid than anything. Nevertheless, I would seriously not advise it for the young, I suspect the content in later episodes will definitely be 'adults only'.
